Chapter 13: The Hunt gets into trouble
Percy woke up to blazing white lights above his head. He grunted when pain hit him. Pain. Pain was good. It would mean he was still alive. What did he do though? The last thing he remembered was jumping his ship across space to get to Nebular's fleet. Then...
"Ugh," he muttered, the bright lights overhead burning themselves into his skull.
"At last, you're awake." Nebular said from beside him. "That was pretty stupid. What you did." She said. "What happened? All I remember hitting the controls to jump my ship across to your fleet then I don't know anything else." Nebular frowned and pressed her palm to Percy's forehead. Percy felt the feeling of cold mercury seeping onto his skin. Then it was gone. Percy felt something within his mind twitch and respond to the light. 'Whoa it's bright here. Someone please turn off the lights.' It said mentally. Percy blinked. "What did you do?" He asked. Nebular cocked her head to one side, studying him. "It appears Artemis' magic that changed you to a girl stayed in you. Thus creating a separate consciousness. An aspect of sorts. We will have to see what gender you aspect will be. What powers it will have. It mannerisms. I've accelerated its growth within you and placed my technical knowledge within it. It won't be affected by your dyslexia, but it will have slight ADHD. Percy felt his mouth move, but he couldn't control himself, nor the words that came out. "It is currently listening you know." Percy said. Nebular laughed. "Wow it certainly grows fast. I estimate three hours before it will be able to decide its own gender. Four hours for it to decide its appearance and for you to be able to change aspect." Nebular patted Percy's shoulder. "Get some rest. I have some new shit for you once your up and ready." Percy nodded and lay back on the bed. "Oh and Percy?" Percy looked at Nebular. "You're going back to Earth once we're done. Going back to the Hunt. Artemis needs your help. She didn't know her hunters have been pranking you." Percy protested weakly. Nebular's eyes blazed coldly. "It's not a request Percy. It's an order. One of the last few I will be giving you." She said and sighed. "Get some good rest. I'll wake you in five hours." She left the room and the lights dimmed. Percy closed his eyes and slowly drifted off to sleep.
<Sometime later>
Artemis paced anxiously around the Throne room. "Artemis sit down. You're giving me a headache." Zues rubbed his forehead tiredly. "Yeah little sis. Why are you so anxious over Percy? Usually you wouldn't be so worried over a boy. Why are you so worried now?" Apollo asked suspiciously. Artemis whirled around and a sliver arrow thudded into Apollo's throne as usual. "I'm worried because..." Artemis' tried to find an excuse. How do I tell them Diana has fallen in love with him, thus imprinting part of her feelings onto me? Artemis thought. "Because...?" Athena prompted, a smirk on her ever-knowing face. "Because if he isn't well, Poseidon will kill my hunters!" Artemis came up. Apollo shrugged and accepted that. Artemis knew he couldn't detect a lie because she was being truthful. It was just that it wasn't the whole truth. Zues however, frowned and looked at her. "Something is exiting in our solar system!" Athena said. She and Hephaestus had worked together again to create a huge telescope to view Nebular's fleet as it dropped out of another dimension.
A television came up. It showed the space just beyond Jupiter. It was calm and black at first. Then it rippled. A huge rift opened and Nebular's fleet popped out. It was of staggering size. A huge flagship stood in the middle, lights on the hull showing the words "JUSTICE". Smaller ships ranging from carriers to battleships, cruisers to destroyers to frigates, swarmed the space all around the mighty ship. The huge fleet silently made its way around the Red Giant. "That's one big ass fleet." Poseidon said, awestruck. Multitudes of one-man ships filled the space around each ship. This was a force truly to be reckoned with. The fleet slowly spread itself out, encircling the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. The flagship blazed a path through the belt. Smaller asteroids bounced off the ship with shimmers, whilst larger asteroids were simply vaporized. Tiny human ships, probably the rebel group Athena had been hearing about, flared from the asteroids and rose to meet this giant. They were easily swatted aside. Once clear of the belt the lights on the outer hull dimmed. The ship seemed to blacken and blend in with space. The rest of the fleet spread out quickly, some entering the asteroid belt to hit human rebels, others descending into Jupiter's and other gas giants' cloudy atmosphere. The gods and goddesses were so engrossed in watching the fleet that they didn't notice Percy walk into the room.
All the gods and goddesses stared. "Percy!" Poseidon hugged his son. "I was afraid you might loose your life." Poseidon said. "I'm too tough dad." Percy said. "Yes I was also afraid you might loose your life because that would be just one handsome man lost." Aphrodite said while batting her eyelashes at him. Percy cringed internally. So did his aspect. "Alright Percy. Let's go. The hunt wants to apologize." Artemis said forcefully and flashed both of them out of the throne room...
...and into a devastated campsite. "What happened here?" Artemis said shocked. The entire campsite was empty...
What happened to the hunt?
