LUKE'S POV
'What is that, a slice?! With that speed, you'll be killed before even getting into form!!' I snapped at a camper, who seriously did not know how to fight.
'Hey take it easy!' Zoë yelled at me.
'Cathlan wouldn't have taken it easy would he have?!'
Before Percy left for the Camp Jupiter, he gave me the duty of training the campers a little before his arrival. But so far, it wasn't going well.
'Do you wanna die?! What kind of jab is that? You're leaving so much space to exploit. All I have to do is duck in and-' I ducked and sliced at his torso, cutting his clothes.
'Hey!' exclaimed the camper.
'Come here Iroas' Zoë called me.
'Not everybody here is on the same level as you, as you can probably tell yourself. Some of them don't know how to fight, some of them are just scared because a war this big has never happened before'
I sighed. 'Guess you're right'
'But still-' I pointed at a young boy, about sixteen, who was trying to put his sword hilt first into the scabbard 'how do you expect me to teach that?'
Zoë stifled a laugh.
'Well, why don't you let Nico and Ethan teach the sword fighters and me and Bianca will teach the archers. Travis and Connor can teach the campers how to set up traps. Selena can help the Apollo Cabin with healing stuff and Beckendorf can help in the forgery. You just..go and rest up. We will need you at full power for this war. You may not realise this but there are only two people Percy trusts with power. That is you, Luke Castellan and Nico Di Angelo'
I smiled gratefully at Zoë, thanking her for her support. 'Okay' I resigned 'But if you need anything just call me'
'Fine fine. You go'
I looked around for Nico and found him hiding in the shadows. 'Hey creepo!! You're in command for now'
The creepo replied with a thumbs up, and then doubled down with a double thumbs up.
Oh God........
PERCY'S POV
'Welcome to Camp Jupiter, Lord Cathlan' said Reyna, bowing down in front of me. Everybody else followed the praetor's lead.
'No need for all that. I am still a human, I'm not a god'
Reyna straightened up. 'Yes, I am sorry'
I huffed my shoulders. 'You Romans are so like, strict and just always abiding by the rules. Loosen up a little bit, I am not here to kill you or anything'
Reyna laughed nervously, as if she had a thought in the back of her mind that I did, indeed, plan on killing everybody.
'Well, Lord Cathlan, shall we talk in private?'
'Ah yes and please ask Hazel and Rachel to join us'
Reyna arched her eyebrows. 'Hazel Levesque and Rachel Dare?'
I nodded.
'As you wish'
She ordered a centurion to get Hazel and Rachel and then proceeded to walk alongside me, Frank following behind.
We stopped at the center of camp, where two wide stone-paved roads met at a T.
A street sign labeled the road to the main gates as via praetoria. The other road, cutting across the middle of camp, was labeled via principalis. Under those markers were hand-painted signs like berkeley 5 miles; NEW ROME 1 MILE; OLD ROME 7280 MILES; HADES 2310 MILES (pointing straight down); RENO 208 MILES, AND CERTAIN DEATH: YOU ARE HERE!
For certain death, the place looked pretty clean and orderly. The buildings were freshly whitewashed, laid out in neat grids like the camp had been designed by a fussy math teacher. The barracks had shady porches, where campers lounged in hammocks or played cards and drank sodas. Each dorm had a different collection of banners out front displaying Roman numerals and various animals—eagle, bear, wolf, horse, and something that looked like a hamster.
Along the Via Praetoria, rows of shops advertised food, armor, weapons, coffee, gladiator equipment, and toga rentals. A chariot dealership had a big advertisement out front: CAESAR XLS W/ANTILOCK BRAKES, NO DENARII DOWN!
At one corner of the crossroads stood the most impressive building—a two-story wedge of white marble with a columned portico like an old-fashioned bank. Roman guards stood out front. Over the doorway hung a big purple banner with the gold letters SPQR embroidered inside a laurel wreath, the Principia.
The principia was even more impressive inside. On the ceiling glittered a mosaic of Romulus and Remus under the she-wolf Lupa. The floor was polished marble. The walls were draped in velvet, so Percy felt like he was inside the world's most expensive camping tent. Along the back wall stood a display of banners and wooden poles studded with bronze medals. In the center was placed the Twelfth Legion's Eagle, the words 'Twelfth Legion Fuliminata'
In the center of the room, a long wooden table was cluttered with scrolls, notebooks, tablet computers, daggers, and a large bowl filled with jelly beans, which seemed kind of out of place.
Reyna sat down at one side of the table, Frank sat to her right. I sat down at the other end of the table.
'So' Reyna hesitated. 'What is it Lord Cathlan?'
I sighed. 'I'm pretty sure you know why I'm here Reyna. And stop calling me Lord Cathlan, you know full well who I am'
Reyna opened and closed her mouth, unable to think of what to say. 'How do you know that I know your true identity?'
'Rachel told you didn't she?'
Reyna shrugged. 'Yes. You're good'
'Of course I'm good. After all, you know how good I was even back then'
Reyna gave a quick look towards Frank, who was sat there with a confused expression on her face.
'Don't worry about Frank and Hazel. I trust them with my life. After all, they didn't betray me. I would've come here after being betrayed. But.. I would've died before reaching here'
Reyna looked down. 'After what happened, we sent it many search parties to look for you. But never even found a single trace of you. Good to know that you're alive..Percy'
SHORT CHAPTER I'M SORRY!! I was actually on a three day vacation and there was no internet so I couldn't write or anything so excuse me for that!! Other than that, COMMENT OF THE WEEK is in the next chapter and something much more exciting is also happening.
