"A room full of silhouettes

They remind me I should treasure my time

Cause it's hard to look ahead

When you're looking back

...

And we'll never be the same again."

~ Born again by Niels Geusebroek from the album 'Wildfire'

Percy Jackson's POV

Many hours passed like the many flashbacks and memories. I looked at the bracelet Annabeth had given me when I gave her's with 'Wise Girl' on it. Mine, of course, had 'Seaweed Brain' on it. I smiled at the memory of when she gave it to me. The smile, the blonde hair, her comment, "You are my Seaweed Brain, and with this everyone will know." It was also the moment I promised her something...

I looked at her. We were at the beach, standing hand in hand. Sun going slowly but surely down into the ocean. She was looking at the sunset with her beautiful grey eyes. How much I loved her, could not be explained. She made my heartbeat raise. She made me feel complete. Her smile... Ah... "Wise Girl..." I turned to her as I went on one knee, taking out the silver ring I had secretly gotten two days before. "Oh, my..." Her eyes started watering. Her smile getting bigger. "Annabeth Chase, you are my everything. I care so much for you... I love you so much... And I will 'till the end of time. So... Will you marry me?" Her head started nodding. "Yes... Yes, I do!" Her arms flew around me. We hugged and then kissed. We heard applauding and yelling and saw all our friends. I had never been so happy in my entire life... And now I got to share it with the love of my life...

I looked at my engagement ring, still on my left ring finger. Tears leaking from my eyes. The sobs were escaping out of my mouth. "Oh, Annabeth..." I whispered. I started crying. And Gods know, for how long. I wanted to hold her hand... I wanted to kiss her... I wanted to hear her voice... Hear her laugh... Just see her.

I got up and started walking from the left to right. My hands clutching my head. The tears still streaming like waterfalls. Why... Why her? Why mom... Why anyone...

The Avengers, apart from Tony, watched Percy Jackson screen. Crying, sobbing, pacing. It just started to get to them that he was Tony's nephew. But what surprised them more was after an hour, when Tony Stark walked into the room. His face and eyes were red from the crying. Perseus looked shocked at the older man but didn't judge at all. Tony slowly walked to the panel and opened the door. He walked into the cage, looking right into the sea-green eyes. He just took the boy in his arms and hugged him. He whispered, "I'm so sorry..."

The Avengers turned off the screen, giving Stark some private time with his nephew.

...

Stark and Jackson stood a long time this way, not moving, just crying. After that, they sat down, Tony explaining, how he was Sally's brother, her disappearance and being unable to find her somehow. After his story, he looked at his newfound nephew. Percy looked down. "You should not blame yourself for anything Tony..." Percy said. "You couldn't have known. Not about mom, me or... anything." A sigh escaped the demigod's mouth. "Percy, who were you visiting at the graveyard...?" Percy looked at the engagement ring on his finger. "Mom... Some friends... And..." He was not able to say her name. "Someone special I lost as well..." Tears started coming again. "She... She was killed in front of my eyes... She..." Percy didn't say anything anymore and just wiped away the tears from his eyes. Tony looking in shock at his nephew. Questions were raised in the smart man's mind, but now was not the right time to ask them. "Come on. We are getting out of here." Tony stood up at his words. He helped Percy up and they both walked out of the cage.

After a few minutes of walking, it was midnight and Tony brought Percy to a guest room. Percy went in and before Tony shut the door. Stark heard a soft, "Thanks, uncle..." Stark smiled at that and shut the door. Leaving Percy alone. But the worry was not needed, because as soon as Percy hit the bed, he fell asleep.

Tony walked into the main room with a faint smile on his face. Seeing the other Avengers, in a way, Percy had made him realize how lucky he was they were all alive and healthy. "How was the time with your nephew, Tony?" Steve asked smiling at his friend. They may have had some rows, but Stark was still a friend of his. "It was good. He said I shouldn't blame myself for not knowing which I said no word about, he just knew..." Stark sighed. "The kid has lost a lot in a short time..."What?" Banner asked. "He didn't only lose his mom, Banner," Tony said in a neutral voice. "He also lost friends and his girlfriend." "A breakup... That can hurt..." Clint said while making a painful face. "She was killed in front of him." Steve looked at Stark. "Tony... It was not his girlfriend..." Steve remembered the tombstone from the graveyard. "What do you mean? She was not just a normal friend..." Tony said in confusion. "I saw a tombstone, a girl named Annabeth Chase. He was crying over her grave..." "I don't see..." Tony interrupted. "Tony." Steve looked at him seriously. "The tombstone said, fiancé. It had a picture with both of them on it." Tony fell silent. "That was the ring he was fiddling with..." He said in a whisper.

"Tony, you are his official guardian now..." Natasha said. "He has no other relatives to turn to." Tony nodded. "I know." Then he realized something. "Oh god, how am I going to explain this to Pepper?" His eyes going wide.

"Let's worry about that tomorrow. Let's sleep first. Tomorrow we are also going to try to get Fury to leave Percy alone." Banner said. "Good luck with that..." Natasha said silently.

All the Avengers went to their rooms, thinking about today's events, all the new information and new discoveries.

Night and silence fell over Stark Tower.
