It took The Avengers a week before they had an actual conversation with Percy. Not because they didn't get the opportunity, there was just always this awkward tension that made it feel like an impossible mission.

Defeating an army of outer space creatures, that stuff was something they understood. Kill, duck, slice, fight, work together and survive. But to have a conversation with a teenager... That was unknown territory.

That and well, Percy is not the everyday teenager who cares for likes on Facebook, biggest concern is the test at school and his biggest question is when and where to hang out with the gang.

No, that was not Percy Jackson. Percy Jackson was according to the Avengers an isolated teen with a mysterious past filled with death. School? He didn't go to one. Friends? They were dead.

So who was Percy Jackson exactly? A nephew of the famous Tony Stark. Son of Sally Jackson. That and the many incidents, like the blown-up schools. That's how The Avengers saw Percy Jackson.

But Steve Rogers saw the familiar pain in Percy's eyes he had seen at the centre for soldiers with PTSD.

That conversation after a week started with a scream.

Percy screamed in fear, blood, death, NO! Annabeth's light in her eyes that died out. The blood that came out of her chest as she had tried to breathe...

"P... Percy, please... Move on..." Tears streamed down on Percy's face as he held the love of his life close. "No... Annabeth, you'll survive..." "Percy... Please... I will always love you..." Annabeth's eyes started to roll away. "Always..." She whispered in her last breath and her body went limp. Annabeth Chase was gone. "NOOO!" A scream echoed over the battlefield, stopping all the fighting surrounding the two lovers. Percy laid Annabeth's body down on the ground and stood up.

The look in his eyes frightened the monsters and demigods. The tears were still there, the anger spit like fire and the hurt dripped down.

It was Steve Rogers who pulled Percy from his past in battle. The scream was loud, but the walls were so thick and strong that only the people with good ears would have heard it.

"Percy!" Steve shook the boy, his hands wrapped around Percy's arms. The soldier looked at the boy in pain. The tears that streamed down Percy's face, the fearful screams, the tossing and turning. It was terrible.

"Percy!" Steve kept him down and the demigod seemed to calm down. As Steve loosened his grip, Percy opened his eyes. A broken and dark look came from them, shocking Steve to the bone. Without one word, Steve wrapped his arms around Percy.

Percy didn't know how to react... But his body did. Tears kept falling from his eyes and eventually he also wrapped his arms around Steve. Like a child hugging his or her parent.

"Percy, whatever you've been through, I'm here for you now. And the rest of the Avengers and me, we are and will be your new family."

This shocked Percy even more. "I just..." Steve let go and looked at Percy who was looking down. "Percy, we all have something. Your uncle also has his things. You just don't know them yet."

Percy looked up to see two caring blue eyes. Wisdom was held in them. Time. Battles. Experience. "Tomorrow we are going to jog together," Steve said with a grin. "Sure," Percy said.

And with that, the conversation was over.

Many emotions rushed through Steve Rogers as he walked back to his room. The sadness for the boy, but the happiness that finally he had spoken.
