It is mentioned at some point that Leo looks like he could be a child of Hermes.  He honestly could, with the pointy ears and the funny personality.  Then I realized something...

It is said that Leo looks almost exactly like his great-grandfather, Sammy Valdez.  In fact, he doesn't only look like Leo, but he acts like him, too.  

I think Sammy's a child of Hermes :3

Sammy Valdez slumped down against the tree, the rough bark scraping his back.  This was his thinking place, and only one other person knew about it.  Hazel Levesque, a girl who would always be the love of his life, had shared a badly made birthday cupcake and a single kiss with him before leaving Sammy's life forever.  That was one year ago.

Now, he had other things to worry about.  His life was everything but normal - and more so than usual.  New bullies he hadn't even seen before seem to all want a piece of him.  Once he caught a couple of his teachers talking about him in a language that was, for the most part, not English or Spanish.  

When he saw a middle-age man in nice-but-still-casual clothing climbing his hill, he should have been afraid.  Yet he wasn't.  The man held his gait loosely and without much of a purpose or care.  He seemed docile... almost friendly?  No, that couldn't be.  Sammy Valdez had no friends now that his only one was gone.

But the man's smile was real enough.  He plopped down next to Sammy and sighed.

"This isn't exactly the usual way of doing things, but our satyrs couldn't quite get through to you."  Seeing Sammy's confused expression, he held out a hand.  "The name's Hermes.  But you can call me dad.  I know we just met and all, but... why don't you come with me."

And he did.

So after that he pretty much went to Camp Half-Blood, survived long enough to find a girlfriend/wife in the mortal world, and have kids, grandkids, and a single grandchild (yup, you guessed it.  Our very own Leo Valdez!)
