Revenge Was Promised

The room was brightly lit, a pristine sparkling white. It was fifty feet in estimated length, one of the larger rooms in the building. A sleek window covered the far wall of the room, looking onto the bustling city of Manhattan.

Cluttered with loose files and stapled documents, a grand oak desk stood powerfully in front the window with four wooden chairs arranged in a small curve before it, looking rather simple in comparison to the tall black leather chair resting behind the desk. Percy had over time learnt that it was one of the ways that Luke Castellan - his boss - used to intimidate all those who sat before him.

"Agent Jackson," Luke's voice echoed around the room. "You're late."

"I apologise, sir." Percy saluted, quickly striding forward to where his boss stood, his shoes clicking deafeningly in the cavernous room.

As he reached Luke, he was passed a folder with the words TOP SECRET neatly stamped on it. He assumed it was a mission brief - of what, he had yet to know. He held it in his left hand, his right resting on his gun holster.

"The Olympians are on the hunt again," Luke stated. "I want you to take out a small group of Demigods based a few streets away from here. We're sending them a message and a warning, they shouldn't have messed with us."

"Understood, sir."

"Good," Luke nodded. "Now go."

"Will do, sir." He saluted a final time, span on his heel and marched out of the office, the mission brief still in his hand. He quickly jogged down the black carpeted stairs and entered Office 0818, flicking a switch on the wall as he entered.

His office was far from eye catching, identical in design to the dozens of others in the building. Beneath the window, an organised white desk was pushed against the far wall with a simple chair tucked under it; a brown cork board was propped on top of a filing cupboard by the left wall, covered with old notes from a previous case. It had originally been a very standard office before Percy came, he had painted the ugly grey walls a brilliant blue as soon as he had been assigned to the office.

He dropped the mission brief on to his desk and sat down, pulling open the folder.

"Target(s): Jason Grace, Clarrisse La Rue, Hazel Levesque, Piper McLean, Grover Underwood, Leo Valdez, Frank Zhang.

Objective(s): Assassinate all targets, collect any plans the targets might have, leave no evidence.

Location: East One Hundred and Fourth and First Avenue.

Key Point(s): Targets are Olympian Demigods except from Grover Underwood. All have 'special powers'."

Percy sighed and closed the folder, reluctantly standing up. He placed the folder in the top draw of his filing cabinet and locked it.

"Today, the tables turn," Percy muttered to himself. "La Rue and Underwood are now at my sword point."

A dark shadow sprinted over the rooftops, powering over air vents and leaping over alley ways. The shadow paused, looking down over the edge of the building it was on. Under it's large hood, a sinister smile danced across the figures lips.

Pulling its hood down for a second, the sea green eyes of Agent Jackson darted about as he pulled on a pair of goggles, carefully analysing as he crept towards the metal panelling of the air vent. He lowered himself inside and crawled sneakily down the confining tunnel.

Small appearances of light briefly blinded the raven-haired agent as he pushed past occupied apartments, relying on the darkness to see. He slowly removed them after glancing inside another apartment room, he had found his targets.

His hand brushed against the hilt of his trusty sword, Anaklusmos, as he stuffed the goggles into his pockets. The bronze sword glowed comfortably in the darkness, he gripped it tight as he fiddled with the lock on the air vent.

"It's not our choice, Grover!" A voice shouted angrily from inside the room, "We follow the Olympians no matter what!"

"That's not what I was saying, Jason!" Grover bleated nervously.

"Then what were you suggesting then, that we abandon our parents?!" A familiar voice cut in, the sound of heavy footsteps striding towards the commotion.

"No! He means that there must be a more logical and less dangerous way of doing this!" More voices added to the argument as Percy finished breaking the air vent locks.

He held the air vent panel in place, using his spare hand to search for water. He found high concentrations of water surging through the walls and smirked, squeezing his hand into a fist. The water bubbled in suspense as he held it back, the pressure building rapidly.

He pointed two fingers towards the yelling, grinning as he heard shouts of surprise. He slid of the panel and jumped silently to the ground, unnoticed by the panicked inhabitants of the room.

He flicked his fingers once again, ensnaring his targets within chains of water, "It's been awhile, hasn't it? Can't say I enjoy seeing you all again, but all's fair in love and war."

Eight heads whipped towards him, seven targets and one witness. Grover gulped, recognising the intruder, "Hey Perce."

At the other side of the room, a stringy haired girl wearing a bandanna widened her eyes, "No way, Jackson? Well, now we're screwed." She mumbled under breath.

He lowered his hood, revealing a young teenager about seventeen years of age. He had a sprawl of raven-black hair on his head and a small grin on his lips. His sea green eyes were clouded darkly, a raging ocean swirling with unbroken waves. There were audible gasps around the room, assumably they had been told who he was.

"It's Agent Jackson now."

"You used to be one of us!" A voice yelled desperately as she struggled against her bonds. It was Annabeth Chase, the one demigod Percy hoped he would never encounter again.

"And then I woke up," he spat bitterly. "Luke was right, you know, about you, and about all of this." He spread his hands out with a disgusted expression, "Olympus will fall, Annabeth. Revenge has been promised, and revenge will be served."

He scrunched up his fists, slowly choking the unaware demigods, "Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to use my sword today, we're not leaving any evidence. But tell me, what are your opinions on suffocation?"

He grinned menacingly as they started to cough.

"You won't get away with this!" A blonde boy yelled, "The heroes always win!"

"Every villain is a hero in his own eyes." Percy calmly looked at him, "Besides, you either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain. I'm quite happy to live, but are you ready to die?"

Percy stepped around the blue faced demigods, picking up all the plans laid on their table. He slipped them into his pocket and reached out with his control over the water, not sensing any other paper in the apartment. Behind him, the Cherokee girl he had tied up yelled out, "Stop!"

Percy paused for a second, quickly spinning around and slicing his hand through the air, covering the girl's mouth with a layer of water. From his pocket he drew a match, he lit it it and dropped it on the floor, "Leave no evidence."

He balled his hands into fists and coldly looked away, finally ending their pain. He struck the match and dropped it on the floor, orange flames flickering as they danced madly around the floor.

He covered his mouth and re-entered the vent, not looking back as he escaped into the night, the building behind him going up in smoke, falling down brick by brick.

Stood on a dark roof on his own, Leo Valdez watched with sad eyes as his family died. The fire had destroyed his watery chains and he had escaped his demise, but there had been no saving the others. Sending a silent prayer to Hades, Leo turned his back on the corpses of his friends and the screaming behind him.

His eyes trailed after the 'Agent' as he escaped, fury filling them as he cursed the traitorous murderer. He sprinted after him under the cover of the unforgiving night, coldly he promised revenge on Agent Jackson.
