[9] - Demigods mercenaries

This one's particularly long so yeah, take your time guys.

——————

Annabeth walked through the streets of Olympus. She smiled and greeted the gods walking by. After the Giant War, she and the others were offered partial immortality. Surprisingly, Percy accepted too. But he had disappeared a year later leaving everyone clueless. She had broken up with him but they were still on good terms, before his disappearance.

Being the official architect of Olympus, she has recreated gods and goddesses' temples on Olympus and in Camp Half-Blood. She was successful and her mother was proud. "Annabeth!" The heroine turned around and smiled at her friend, Piper.

The brown-haired girl became her mother's protege and after a while, being with the goddess of love wasn't so bad. Aphrodite had surprisingly taught her many useful things about her powers too.

"You're heading to the meeting?" She asked and hooked her arm through hers. She nodded her head in reply.

"Do you think Percy will come?" She asked quietly. Percy's disappearance was covered up as a quest that lasted for eighteen months. Each meeting, they had hoped he would appear but was disappointed. Annabeth shrugged.

"I hope so," she said. Piper nodded her head and they walked to the throne room together.

Upon reaching, everyone was already there. Jason kissed Piper and she smiled. "Hello, handsome." He smiled and held her waist.

"Hi, Annabeth," he greeted. She smiled and waved. Jason helped his father with his kingly duties along with making up with Hera. He and Piper's relationship was going smoothly. Everyone was already there except for one person.

"Where's Clarisse?" Annabeth asked. Everyone shook their heads. It was unlike the daughter of Ares to be absent. She was usually the first and never missed any one of the meetings. Just then, the door burst open.

The daughter of Ares was ranting and cursing in ancient greek so fast that even being gods they couldn't keep. "I'm going to kill that bloody idiot!" She said and sat beside her father.

"What happened to you?" Frank asked her half-sister seeing as she was dressed in assassination clothes which were covered in blood.

"That idiot happened," she answered deadpanned.

Zeus cleared his throat and everyone quietened down. He was about to begin when the throne room doors burst open again. This time, it was a hooded figure. They could only see the grin on his face and the rest of his face was shrouded in darkness.

Clarisse narrowed her eyes at him. "I would call you son of a bitch but your mother is an incredible woman," she said at him. He shrugged and strutted into the throne room. Everyone stared at him wearily.

"Business is business." His voice was smooth and velvety that seemed to swoon the ladies in the room. It was familiar too, to Annabeth at least.

"If you mean stealing my kill then yeah, business," she retorted and glared at him. He shrugged and threw something at her. Everyone shouted but Clarisse was unfazed as she caught the dagger.

"Souvenir," he said a tone of mischief. She glanced down at it and was impressed.

"I'm keeping this," she stated pointedly and slipped into her boot.

"Who are you?" Annabeth asked as she narrowed her eyes suspiciously. He turned around and grinned at her. He looked at everyone's faces and was mockingly offended.

"You don't remember me? I'm hurt," he said and pouted.

Clarisse snorted and leaned on her arm. "Your hood is up, how would they recognise you?" She asked and rolled her eyes. The man shrugged and smirked.

"Answer her question," Poseidon said. He like the others were losing their patience. The hooded man glanced lazily at Clarisse who rolled her eyes. He sighed and glanced down before looking back up.

He pulled down his hood and everyone gasped. He looked so much different eighteen months ago. His hair was as tousled as always. His jawline and cheekbones were more defined and it looked sharp enough to give a paper cut.

"Miss me?"

The whole room was speechless as they let the information sink in. "Can you be any more dramatic?" They looked at the person surprised. Zeus stared at the demigod unamused.

He tilted his head and smirked. "You're the king of drama. What do you think?" He asked. Clarisse grinned and stared at the king god. Everyone was just surprised and shocked.

Zeus and Clarisse knew where Percy Jackson was the whole time?

The son of Poseidon placed his hands in his pocket and smirked at their expressions. "You could add a little lightning and thunder for effect," he said. Now they were confused. Zeus not blasting the demigod for talking back to him? The world was going to end.

"That's so not Prissy's style," Clarisse said and flicked at the air as if it annoyed her.

"Back up. How is it that the two of you know where he was the entire time?" Hermes asked extremely confused. Everyone nodded their head in agreement.

Percy shrugged and sat down beside his father. "La Rue and I were paid to do our job. Zeus just happens to know what we do," he explained briefly.

"And what is your job?" Athena asked curiously.

Percy glanced at Clarisse who seemed to be having a silent conversation. "We don't give information freely," he said as if he has said a thousand times. Athena was baffled at his answer. She was a goddess and he was a puny half immortal. Since when did he work for money?

"Back to the meeting, please," he said and looked at Zeus. The king god rolled his eyes.

"There's another war coming." The room seemed to erupt into chaos once he finished. Zeus sighed and stared at the other two assassins exasperatedly. They chuckled and continued watching for a while before deciding to interfere.

Clarisse dropped a small round object on the ground letting it roll to the middle of the room. Once it stopped, it exploded giving off a loud 'bang' sound and sparks to appear. Some of them yelped jumping from their thrones.

The duo snickered. "Never gets old," she commented and they grinned.

"As I was saying," Zeus said and glared at everyone who looked down embarrassed.

"There's a war coming and it will be the last one. Ever," he added. What did he mean by ever?

"This last war is against the two most powerful being in the entire universe," he said. Everyone widened their eyes and Artemis asked the one question everyone had on their mind.

"Who, father?"

Zeus glanced at the two assassins as they paled. "Chaos and End." The sky outside immediately darkened and the room temperature dropped tremendously. Saying those two names were dangerous because one is the Creator and the other is the Destroyer.

"Oh damn," Percy said.

Everyone stared at him stupefied. That's all he has to say after knowing that the first two beings to be ever created were having a war against each other. Thoughts ran through them a thousand miles per hour that even the Flash would have been jealous.

"Shut up."

They stared at him confused. "We didn't say anything," Athena said offended.

Percy sighed and stared at them. "You were thinking and it's irritating," he said. Clarisse and Zeus rolled their eyes.

Just then, a portal appeared. Percy shot up from his sear and looked around frantically before vapour travelling out of the throne room. Yes, he learned how to vapour travel. Very handy on many occasions. Everyone was confused while Clarisse laughed. She pulled her hood up and her face was shrouded by darkness. Someone stepped through the portal followed by a few other people and it closed soon after.

The man at the front had black hair and silver eyes that seemed to shine the brightest in the room. He had a lean built and wore a cloak but his hood was down.

"Ah, Dauntless. I wasn't expecting to see you here," he said surprised. She smiled, "You're not the only one with connections, Lord Chaos."

The whole room gasped. The man standing in front of them was Chaos, the Creator. "Have you seen Divergent by any chance?" He asked. Clarisse pointed at the door.

"You just missed him," she said. No one seemed to notice the undertone meaning of that statement. Chaos raised an eyebrow in surprise. Divergent was here too? Interesting. The throne room door opened and Percy was being held by the arms by two other people.

Chaos stared at him unamused. Percy huffed and wrenched his arm free. "You weren't even trying," he stated. The demigod shrugged. He sat at where he was sitting before.

"I assume you have told them about the war," Chaos said to Zeus. The king god nodded his head in reply.

"And End wants to do it here," he added. Shock ran through them as to why the Destroyer wanted to have the battle here.

All in all, this was too much information for them to bear. Let's start from the beginning. Firstly, Percy had disappeared for eighteen months and Clarisse and Zeus knew where he was the entire time. Based on their clothes, they had a pretty good theory as to what their jobs were.

Secondly, there was news saying that there was going to be the last war.

Thirdly, the Creator came to Earth to announce that their planet was going to be used as a battlefield and he knew Percy and Clarisse by the names Dauntless and Divergent.

"I can't take this anymore. What is happening? How do you know the two of them and what do you mean End wants to use Earth as a battlefield?" Annabeth asked feeling like her head was going to explode.

"I will explain later. For now, my Elite team are here to help in the upcoming war. Details to follow," Chaos said. Everyone nodded their heads not daring to defy his orders.

"Cl-Dauntless, a word please," Annabeth said and looked at her other friends. Clarisse followed them out as she glanced at Percy. She smirked and made kissy faces at him. In return, he stuck his tongue out at her.

"Divergent, a word too," Chaos said and walked out. Percy glanced at the gods and shrugged. He followed the taller male out. They were a few metres away from the throne room unnoticed and unheard by anyone.

"So, what's up? Dauntless and I finished the mission early so we came her-" He was cut short by another pair of lips on his. He froze but kissed back after a second. His hood fell back as they stayed that way for a while before parting.

"I missed you," the Creator mumbled softly as Percy played with the older male's hair. He missed seeing the two swirling green orbs that captured his attention every second. He smiled and leaned their foreheads together.

"Me too," he replied. His silver eyes twinkled under the light as he held his lover close. It was their secret that no one knew. Ok, maybe only Dauntless knows. She was the one who set them up in the first place. Even though he wouldn't admit it but he was grateful she did it.

"Is it true about what you said earlier?" Percy asked worriedly. Chaos sighed and nodded his head. The demigod didn't want End to have a war here. His family and friends were here. He didn't want to lose them.

"I'm sorry," he said and wrapped his arms around the shorter male comfortingly. Percy nuzzled his face into the Creator's chest as he sighed. Why did it have to them that always have the worst luck?

——————

Clarisse was bombarded by questions once they walked out. She was going to have a headache if they won't shut up soon. "One question at a time," she said and glared at them. They stopped and nodded their heads.

"The two of you work for the Creator? Seriously? How?" Annabeth asked. Clarisse raised an eyebrow.

"Like what Jackson said, we don't give information for free," she said firmly. Of course, how could they forget?

"Fine! When did the two of you start this...this organisation?" She asked not sure how to label their work.

Clarisse thought for a while before answering them. "Fifteen months ago," she said. Wow, that was long.

"And you've kept it a secret until now?" Jason asked. She stared at him deadpanned.

"I am still keeping it a secret," she said. They nodded their heads in understanding.

"We better get back now before they start suspecting," Piper said and they left.

——————

Percy stayed at Camp Half-Blood in his cabin. They both changed out of their clothes seeing as the others didn't know what their jobs were. Shockingly, even Chaos didn't know their identity. Surprise surprise.

He walked in the dining pavilion and the little kids shrieked. "PERCY!" They rushed towards said demigod who barely had time to understand what was happening. He was attacked by kids as they hugged him tightly.

"We missed you! Why was your quest so long?" A little girl, Sam, asked. Percy raised an eyebrow and looked at Clarisse. She shook her head and made a gesture to go with it.

"Uh yeah. It was a very important quest," he said and bent down to their height. Sam pouted but quickly became happy again when her siblings called her. The other kids dispersed too after saying bye to Percy.

They walked to their respective table. Percy sat there alone again until a few other people plopped down beside him. "Said god is not here so we're sitting here," Annabeth said and smiled. Percy chuckled and smiled at them. He missed his friends.

"What did I miss?"

They told him about what happened in the past eighteen months. There was a portal connecting both camps now. Both sides have become on great terms and even shared their resources. It was a nice change to see after a long grudge against each other for an unknown reason.

"Annabeth! Chiron wants to meet you and the rest. Oh hey, Percy," Malcolm said as he jogged over. He widened his eyes and grinned at the demigod.

"Percy! Welcome back!" He said and hugged him. The son of Poseidon chuckled and hugged back.

"Since you're here, you can now take back your role as Camp Half-Blood's leader," Annabeth said and smirked. Percy stared at her unamused.

"Funny," he said. She snickered and they went to the big house.

Chiron was already there and was very surprised and relieved to see Percy. They hugged talked and caught up. It was nice to finally be back with his family. Just then, the door opened and the Elite group came in. Walking behind was Chaos. Percy widened his eyes and pulled Clarisse to another room.

"What Jackson?" She asked annoyed.

He huffed and crossed his arms. "Chaos might have um seen...my face," he admitted. The daughter of Ares stared at him blankly before hitting him at the back of his head.

"And I thought I was careless," she said bewildered. Percy huffed and glared at her. Not letting anyone know their identity was their main priority but then he didn't like lying to Chaos.

Clarisse exhaled through her nose and could practically hear her dead best friend's advice to her. "Someone once told me that you should always be honest with the person you love and if he doesn't accept it than he doesn't love you," she said repeating the words Silena Beauregard had once told her.

Percy smiled and nodded his head. "Thanks," he said.

"No problem, Prissy."

"So how am I suppose to tell him?" Clarisse stared at him exasperatedly before walking out of the room. He huffed and walked out too. Luckily for him, there was a lot of people so he slipped past everyone and sat beside Annabeth.

"Introduce yourselves," Chiron said to the partially immortals.

"Frank Zhang, Camp Jupiter praetor."

"Reyna Avila Ramirez-Arellano, Camp Jupiter praetor."

"Hazel Levesque, Camp Jupiter representative."

"Jason Grace, partially immortal."

"Piper Mclean, partially immortal."

"Leo Valdez, partially immortal."

"Clarisse La Rue, Camp Half Blood's strategist and partially immortal."

"Annabeth Chase, Olympus' architect, co-leader of Camp Half-Blood and partially immortal."

It was Percy's turn and he could feel Chaos' surprised look. "Percy Jackson-" He received a kick to the shin

"Perseus Jackson, leader of Camp Half-Blood, partially immortal."

Chaos was smirking. He leaned back onto his chair as he stared at the leader of Camp Half-Blood. Now that he knew his lover's real name, he couldn't help but love him even more. The Elite team members nodded their heads and introduced themselves.

"Eidth, commander of the Elite team." (Luke)

"Iros, co-commander of the Elite team." (Bianca)

"Adam, Elite team's weapon master." (Beckendorf)

"Eve, Elite team's healer." (Silena)

"Stallion, Elite team's strategist." (Zoë)

All five Elite warriors were strangely familiar to some of the people in the big house. It was unnerving as they couldn't place where they've heard them before. Percy glanced at Annabeth and they had a silent conversation.

I'm going to skip this part
——————

Percy was the last to leave the big house and was immediately blocked by someone. "I thought it'll be Peter or Richard." Percy raised an eyebrow at him.

"Richard?"

Chaos shrugged. The demigod chuckled. "Yeah, no," he said. The Creator pulled him away from the door and Percy followed.

"Perseus is better," he commented. Percy smiled at him.

"I'd prefer Percy," he said pointedly. Chaos pulled him close leaving little space between them.

"I'd prefer Perseus," he said and smirked noticing the light blush coating his cheeks. He brushed his thumb lightly across the demigod's lip and kissed it. The shorter male leaned in not wanting to stay out of the embrace.

Chaos loved every part of the assassin. Every time he thought of the young hero, it's like he fell for him harder each time. He never wanted to let go of his lover and hoped they could stay like this forever. Percy pulled back and Chaos was smiling like crazy. "I should probably head out," he murmured and walked out of the big house smiling widely.

Chaos smiled at the departing hero and his head felt like it was only filled with the name Perseus all over.

Percy walked back to the dining pavilion. "Jackson, catch." His hand reached up and caught the small device.

"From who?" He asked. Clarisse shrugged.

"Rachel's cave," he said and left.

The Seven except Percy, stared at the two of them walk away. "Well, that was intense," Jason commented lightly. Everyone chuckled before continuing their lunch.
