Chapter 31
Percy's point of view
The day went by pretty normally, I taught sword classes as usual and partway through the afternoon I talked to Silena for a while. She is picking everything up fairly quickly, so if she decides to go back to school in the fall I can at least be a bit less worried about her. Obviously, I will still worry about her, she's my daughter what would you expect? But at least I'll know that she isn't completely helpless when facing a monster.
I figured I'd take luke to see my mom tomorrow, I knew they were both interested in meeting so as long as I had the time I would do it then. Silena had mentioned that she wanted to come with us since she missed her grandmother and wanted to see her again. I couldn't really blame her since I always used to miss mom when I was at camp. I knew Silena was close to my mom and Paul so it was understandable that Silena would miss them.
I hadn't seen Aphrodite since this morning but I was okay with that, sure it would be nice to see her but I would be fine if she didn't come back tonight. I was on my way back to my dad's cabin after the campfire when somewhat to my surprise Aphrodite Appeared not far away from me. I walked over to her and the other campers kept on going not noticing where I had gone or the goddess that had just appeared out of nowhere.
"Why don't we go somewhere more private," Aphrodite suggested.
I agreed considering that we couldn't very well stay in my dad's cabin together Michael and Luke were there, and even if they weren't the beds weren't really that big, not to mention that dad might be able to sense us there. Aphrodite transported us to her palace on Olympus, While most people might think that everything in her palace would be bright pink or other colours that are commonly associated with love, sure there were some of those colours but not everything was those colours. The walls and most of the furniture were white, and while white is often associated with love it wasn't as bright and girly as bright pink or bright red would have been. The palace also included gold basically the place went against practically every assumption someone would make about what Aphrodite's palace would probably look like.
While I was still looking around Aphrodite's attention suddenly left me and focused on what I assumed was the front door, She said, "I should have known this might Happen," before walking towards it. I was slightly confused about what was going on but as soon as she opened the door I came up with a pretty good guess, She had admitted to me that Ares was still trying to get her to take him back even though she had no intention of doing so.
Due to that, I guessed what was probably happening. I guessed that Ares was probably there and I kind of hoped Aphrodite would be able to get him to leave without him finding out about me. I was sure I could probably handle him if I had to but I would rather not have to. I stayed back preferring not to get involved unless I had too, I could hear Aphrodite trying to tell Ares that she wasn't taking him back since he hadn't really loved her.
Based on what I overheard it sounded like he hadn't cared about her as a person, all he saw was her beauty and not the woman that was underneath. It sounded like to him their relationship had just been little more than meaningless sex and that wasn't what Aphrodite had wanted. Unfortunately, while he was arguing with Aphrodite Ares figured out that she wasn't alone, and he figured out that I was there.
Once he realized that He seemed to get more annoyed and I figured that it was partially because he has never been that fond of me, to begin with, and now Aphrodite chose me over him so I didn't think that would make him suddenly like me. Finally, Aphrodite managed to get him to leave even though he was still rather annoyed because of me.
Once he was gone Aphrodite and I spent the rest of that night together but I knew I would have to return to camp in the morning so I could teach the sword classes and Take Luke and Silena to see my mom and Paul. Not to mention that I would have to get back early enough that no-one would suspect where I was. I knew it would only be a matter of weeks before camp was over for the summer, and Luke and Silena would have to decide whether they were going to stay at camp or go home.
No matter what Silena chose I would be okay with it, although I would like to have her around. Not having her at home was kind of hard to get used to since I was so used to her being there most of the time. I didn't figure I'd seen the last of Ares since he now knew about my relationship with Aphrodite. Him knowing would probably also lead to the other gods finding out and I figured that at least a few of them would have something to say to me about it.
When I took Luke and Silena to see my mom, she was happy to see them as I had expected. We all talked and mom asked Luke a few questions about himself. I knew mom was still far from happy with Annabeth but since I had moved on I think she was starting to let her anger go. It seemed that even though Annabeth had been afraid to contact me and tell me about Luke it seemed like she had been a good mother to him.
Obviously, I didn't know for sure but from what I'd been told by Luke it seemed that she had. It certainly seemed like Luke had turned out to be a pretty good kid so far. I hadn't told mom about my relationship with Aphrodite yet, but I would probably tell her soon, after all practically everyone else knew about it now. It's not that I didn't want her to know, I just hadn't gotten around to telling her yet.
I had been pretty busy lately since I work on weekdays and then quite often spend time with Aphrodite in the evenings, and then I go to camp on the weekends. I talk to my mom whenever I can but I just hadn't gotten around to telling her about my relationship with Aphrodite yet.
Heck, even David had found out. Sure I consider him a friend, but I hadn't told him about her. He found out when one night when Aphrodite and I were on a date we'd gone to a restaurant and it seemed like a pure coincidence that David was also there with his wife for their Anniversary. He'd seen me there but he hadn't said anything that night and brought it up when we were at work the next day.
The next day when we were at work he said, "I guess I know now why you have been so cheery lately. You've found yourself a beautiful woman,"
He sounded slightly amused although I wasn't sure why. I asked him how he knew since I hadn't noticed him at the restaurant and he told me that he'd been there and seen me with Aphrodite. Obviously, he had no clue who she really was, as far as I could tell David was completely mortal so he was oblivious to the fact that she was a goddess, and based on what he said, it sounded like to him she looked similar to his wife, Britney.
To me, she had strawberry blonde hair and had blue eyes, but to him, she had red hair and brown eyes. I didn't admit to David that she is Silena's mother, and the conversation didn't last long before we had to go and deal with a robbery that was taking place. I knew I would try and tell my mom about Aphrodite soon, after all, I don't really have a reason not too.
I'm sure she'll accept our relationship although she'll probably be a bit concerned about Aphrodite possibly cheating on me. I trust Aphrodite and don't think she will but I wouldn't blame my mom if she was concerned, after all before I really got to know her I'd thought the same things about Aphrodite that everyone else does. now though I knew she wasn't the person everyone thought she was and is actually quite different.
Silena's Point of view
Even though I knew that it wouldn't be long before I would go home and go back to school I went with my dad when he took Luke to meet my grandmother. I wanted to see her even though I had iris messaged her and I knew it wouldn't be long before I'd see her again anyway. Unsurprisingly my grandmother took an immediate liking to Luke and as always she had some of her cookies made and set them out so we could have some.
My grandmother had always been a kind person and although I'd always spent most of my time with dad except for when I was in school I was still quite close to her and my step-grandfather Paul. Despite how close I am to dad there were always things that I was more comfortable talking about with my grandmother rather than him, and she had taught me several things that most girls would normally learn from their mother.
Obviously, since I hadn't even known who my mother was before I came to camp, I hadn't really had anyone else to turn to for those things. Sure dad tried but more often than not he either didn't know much, or it just made for an awkward situation. I knew another situation like that would be coming sooner or later, and it would just be easiest to talk to my grandmother when it comes.
After we returned to camp the day went by pretty normally, I had my classes and I spent some time with Jenifer, we eventually had dinner which was followed by the campfire. Some buildings were starting to go up where the new city was going. I think Annabeth was still working on the plans for most of the buildings but what she had completed had been approved by the gods and the building process was now underway. I think there were already older campers who were planning on living there when enough buildings were completed but for now, they'd have to wait.
A/N This chapter was kind of a filler, but more surprises are coming soon, I have some challenges planned for Luke and Silena. PS, just now when I was typing this A/N I almost typed Luke and Christina instead of Luke and Silena, anyone who's read some of my other stories will understand why.
