Chapter 3: The Salvatore School Pt. 1

Hope POV:

"Will you stop that. It's getting really annoying," I said to Percy, as he tapped the window of the car.

I knew that he had ADHD, but it was still ticking me off.

He shrugged, "Can't. It's either this, or the pen. And you hate the pen."

I sighed, "Ugh, fine. Just keep it down. We'll be there in a few."

"You know," he started, "you never told me what you meant by 'us.'"

He was really getting on my nerves. Note to Self: never be in a car, alone, with Percy Jackson.

"And what did I say?" I retorted. "I'll tell you once we get to the school. It''ll make more sense when we get there."

He whined like a baby, "I hate surprises!"

I don't know how, but that got me to laugh, slightly.

As I pulled into large driveway, I said, "We're here."

By now, it was early morning, 7 AM. Dr. Saltzman's probably awake by now.

After getting our belongings out of the car, I took Percy to Dr. Saltzman's office. To be honest, it was mainly my belongings. All Percy brought was a backpack, and a medium-sized suitcase.

Once we were outside Dr. Saltzman's office, I said, "Wait here."

I opened the door to see Dr. Saltzman preparing for the start of classes tomorrow.

He looked up and said, "Hope, how was New York?"

I nodded, "Good. While there, I became friends with a guy named Percy Jackson."

"Percy Jackson? Why does that name sound familiar? You were saying..." he trailed off.

"Last night, a group of vampires attacked me, after I told them that I wouldn't make them daylight rings." I explained. "One of them tried to compel Percy to go away, after he found us, but it didn't work. And then he knocked them all out with a few punches. He's a supernatural. What he is, I'm not sure of yet."

Alaric pondered this. He asked, "Is he here?"

I nodded again, "Yeah, he's waiting outside."

"Well," he said. "Let him in."

When I opened the door, Percy wasn't standing where I told him to wait. Instead, he was on the other side of the hallway talking to Landon.

What am I going to do with him, I thought as I walked over to them.

"Percy," I called out, "come on. Dr. Saltzman's waiting. Hi, Landon."

Landon nodded, "Hope. Anyways, nice meeting you Percy."

I led Percy into Dr. Saltzman's office and told him to sit down.

Dr. Saltzman started, "I'm Alaric Saltzman, the headmaster here. You can call me Alaric, Dr. Saltzman, Mr. Saltzman, whichever of those you prefer. This is a school for the supernatural. A place were-"

Percy cut him off, "Supernatural?"

Dr. Saltzman explained, "Witches, Werewolves, and Vampires."

Percy asked, "And you think I'm a 'supernatural?'"

I said, "Those guys you fought off yesterday, they were vampires. They're extremely hard to injure or kill. Only a werewolf bite, or wooden stake can kill them."

Percy looked confused. I continued, "And you managed to knock them out with your bare hands. No human could do that, let alone resist compulsion. A mind controlling ability vampires possess."

Dr. Saltzman then said, "Here, we teach young supernaturals how to control their abilities, so they can live as normal a life they can. Since we don't know what you are yet, Hope will give you some physical tests to complete. After that, our... uh shrink will give you a mental exam."

When Dr. Saltzman said that last part, Percy's face morphed from a look of confusion, to a look of worry.

He hid it very well, but not well enough. What was he afraid of? He's an eighteen year old who's been living as a normal teen his whole life.

After that, I took Percy outside, to the football field.

"So," he smirked. "What are you?"

I replied, "I'm a tribrid. Only one of my kind. I'm a vampire, witch, and werewolf."

He asked, "How's that possible."

"My mom was a werewolf, and my dad was the original vampire-werewolf hybrid," I explained. "And my grandmother was the original witch.

"'Was?'" he noticed.

I nodded, "My parents died about two years ago. I don't like to talk about it a lot."

"I get it," he said. "Sometimes, even though we move on, it still hurts."

Noticing how dark the conversation turned, I changed the topic. I said, "Start with some sprints to the school and back. Do ten of them."

Percy saluted, "Yes, Coach Mikaelson."

Percy started his sprints and kept a relatively constant speed. Before he started his sprints, Percy and I were about 80 feet from the school.

Within two minutes, Percy had finished his laps, and he was barely sweating.

I told him, "So you're fast, and you have a really high stamina."

He explained, "Yeah. At my summer camp, that I used to go to, we had a lot of sports competitions between the cabins. So everyone eventually got fast and got a high stamina. That was a given."

I pondered this for a few seconds before saying, "Makes sense. Let's start next test."

Time Skip

After a series of tests including long jumps, an upside-down handstand, and log lifting, I made my verdict. Percy was an extremely fit witch.

Now back in Alaric's office, I said, "Dr. Saltzman, Percy's a witch. He could be a werewitch, but I'm not too sure about that."

Percy interjected, "Witch? Don't you mean wizard?"

Dr. Saltzman shook his head. He said, "In this case, being a supernatural, it's a general term. Hope, could you go get Landon. He offered to give Percy a tour."

"Sure," I replied.
