One shot

Sally Jackson was frantically walking around the apartment, waiting for her son to get home from the Giant War. She hadn't seen him in almost a year, though it felt like forever. She just wanted oh so desperately to hold him in her arms. Paul was anxious too, but not as much as her. She'd made eight batches of blue cookies which were all piled up on the table, and a ninth batch was in the oven.

"Ms. Jackson."

She turned around and saw an iris message which showed Chiron looking solemn.

"Chiron! Where's Percy? Is he okay?" Sally demanded.

Chiron bowed his head and sighed. "I'm afraid that's why I called you. Sally, your son has perished in battle."

"WHAT?!?!" Sally shrieked, clutching her heart and tears pouring down her cheeks.

"I'm sorry." Chiron said. "If you would like, I'll let you and your husband into camp for the funeral."

"O-of course I'll be there." Then she broke the connection and crumpled down in a heap, sobbing.

The door swung open and Paul immediately attempted to soothe his wife.

"H-he's d-d-dead." She wailed.

At the funeral, the grieving couple watched in silence as the flames turned the blue cloth shrine to ash. Annabeth was standing in front of them as were the rest of the seven. They were the last ones to leave.

Annabeth went with them to Percy's cabin. It felt like a holy place and none of them said a word.

Then Tyson entered, face red and wet like the rest of them.

Once they'd collected all of Percy's stuff, they went home and laid down on their bed.

Sally always knew Percy would probably die a young and painful death. But if only it ended differently.

She got up and went to her desk. She sat in her chair and typed into the typewriter;

"Look, I didn't want to be a half-blood."
