Extra Scene: James Potter and the ElectroKids of Olympus
The crossover of crossovers to end all crossovers.
There's a Harry Potter meets Michael Vey somewhat of a prequel to this in Shockwave as well.
James thought he'd had life all figured out.
He had two best friends, Ace and Zoe, who he would follow to the ends of the earth and back if they so much as blinked twice if you're in danger.
He had a brother and a sister who, despite all his claims otherwise, he loved with all of his heart and then some. A brother who he was very proud of for finally dating Hunter, by the way.
His parents were heroes. His whole family was made up of heroes. They had provided him a legacy and a name to uphold, and he was going to uphold it no matter what the cost.
He had a wonderful girlfriend who he knows he doesn't deserve but at the same time she thought he was perfect for her and who was he to argue with that?
So yeah, his life was all figured out.
Of course, if some silly mortal is dumb enough to think that, the Fates were duty bound to laugh in the face of his stupidity.
"Tyler and Riley Vey," Zoe introduced to him, "Dallus Liss and Wade Vranes. Electroclan Jr., James Potter."
"Electroclan?" James repeated warily, "Demigods?"
Honestly, he couldn't see it.
The twins were athletic enough, with brown hair and blue eyes that reminded him of Ace, but lacking the aura he felt whenever he was near the demigod kids.
Dallus was even lankier than Hunter, his dark hair sweeping over his eyes. Only Wade could pass as a fighter, but even he seemed far too gentle for that.
"Half Legacies," Zoe mused toward the twins, "Dallus and Wade are children of blessed clearsighted mortals."
"Dallas Liss?" James wondered, "Liss Liss?"
The younger boy scowled at him. "Dallus with a U. Yes like the city in Texas, no my father wasn't completely brain dead enough to not know how to spell it, yes he did think he was being funny."
"Ace Grace," he couldn't help but snicker a little, "Dallus Liss."
Tyler and Riley moved to either side of Dallus, glaring protectively.
"Sorry, I'll stop, promise," James grinned, holding his hands up, "Peace?"
"That's just the way he is," Zoe waved with a roll of her eyes, "He means well. He's just stupid. Don't even worry about it."
"Hey!" James cried, falling against her, "That's not nice."
"What are you, five?"
"If it gets you to stop bullying me, then yes."
"It doesn't."
"Darn."
"You remind me of Uncle Percy," Riley told him, face softening, "This is how Zoe and Ace fight, too."
"Ace," Tyler murmured, "It's so weird. Sometimes I just can't get over the fact that he exists."
"Right?" James agreed out of pure instinct, slightly confused by the strange wording of the statement, "How could Aunt Piper ever settle for Uncle Jason?"
"That's not what I-"
"Tyler!" Zoe cut in quickly, slinging her arm around his shoulders so hard that he choked a little, "Why don't you take Charlie and go find Rose and Scorpius?"
The boy pouted at her, folding his arms but leaving anyway, the other three legacy kids following.
"Gah!" Zoe breathed out, "That was close."
"What was close?"
"Nothing you need to worry about."
James rolled his eyes with a fond grin, bumping her shoulder affectionately. "You never change, do you?"
"Hey," she smiled back, "This is for your own wellbeing. Dad told me it blew Uncle Harry's mind when he tried to figure it out, too."
"So," he started, "Electroclan Jr, huh? I feel like Mom mentioned something like that once."
"Yeah, she met their parents once. The twins are a year older than Luke, Dallus is a year younger, and Wade is Charlie's age. They live in Idaho, but they're at Camp a lot. Tyler and Riley's mom is the daughter of Aphrodite."
"Idaho? Is that like a town?"
"It's a state."
"No way."
"You're in Muggle Relations. What the Hades have you been doing with your time?"
"Shut up."
_______________
"Woah," James gaped, staring, "How are you doing that?"
"This?" Dallus shrugged, making the cup glow brighter, "It's nothing. Especially not compared to what Milo can do."
"Milo Valdez? What can he do?"
"Like, I could melt the cup if I felt like it, but he could literally blow it up."
"Since when can he do that?!?"
"Aren't you a wizard?" he asked, unimpressed, "Shouldn't you be used to this kind of thing?"
"Okay, hold up, but Milo is Milo. I'm honestly surprised he can tie his own shoes."
"I think he uses Velcro."
"Ah."
"But anyway," Dallus said, stopping his power, "You can do the same thing as me. What's the big deal?"
"I use a wand," James told him, pulling it from his robes, "And a spell. You can just, like, think it and it happens. Are you sure you're not a demigod?"
"I inherited it from my mom," he muttered, brushing his hair from his eyes, "And she's not really a goddess, no matter what my dad might say."
"Your dad sounds kind of dorky."
"He really is," Dallus groaned, shoving his face into his hands, "Just wait 'til you see him in his clogging shoes."
_______________
"Mom!" James whined, completely unashamed even with the four younger kids watching him, "Don't make me!"
"James Sirius Potter," Ginny said threateningly, shaking a disapproving finger at him, "Your Aunt Fleur is only going to be here for a couple days while Bill is overseas with work. The least you can do is try to keep her company."
"Sorry," he deadpanned, shrugging, "I have plans with Alice. We made reservations months ago."
Out of the corner of his eye he saw Tyler's eyebrow shoot up, his jaw dropping.
Strange.
"Cancel them."
"What? But mommm-"
"Look," Ginny sighed, "She's not my favorite person in the world either, but you could at least try to be civil. I know you're free, and with your Dad working overtime and your siblings swamped in school work, it really is the least you can do."
"But Alice-"
"Wow," Tyler whistled, "No shame."
"What?"
"He knew you were lying, James," his mother scolded him, "Keep up."
"Wait- Huh?"
"Taylor Ridley," Ginny reminisced, "I only met her once, and for no longer than a week, but Merlin, was that girl something."
"I can read minds," Tyler told him, "Something about brainwaves. If I'm making direct contact with you or if you're holding onto a metal bar like you are right now, I can read your mind. I can also 'reboot' people, so to speak. Like blanking out their thoughts for a second."
"You keep a pretty good poker face," Riley added, "But no matter what you're thinking, he can see it."
"Mothers know everything," she continued, "And ours literally does know everything. But not the same way Uncle Ostin does. Tyler and I? We never lie to her, and not just because we are absolute angels."
Wade broke down into a coughing fit at that.
"It's because she can literally see into our hearts and souls," Tyler whispered, eyes widening, "I'm still figuring out my powers, but she always knows what we're thinking. She always knows when we're lying. I respect her enough that I know she'll respect our privacy, but she always knows when it's necessary, so we just never do anything to make her use her power."
"Wait. So what am I thinking?"
"You have a deadline for your job tomorrow that you haven't even started yet, you need to get your girlfriend to make last minute reservations and pass them off for planned to get out of hanging with your Aunt, and 'bloody hell' are you craving a Pumpkin Pastry right now."
"James!" Ginny exclaimed, "You have a deadline? And you're just hanging out here?"
"But Uncle George is bringing over the Pumpkin Pastries!"
"Go!"
_______________
James didn't notice it until around four days into their stay, but Riley sometimes did weird things.
Not weird like that time Rose pulled three all nighters in a row trying to do gods knew what.
Not weird like watching Hugo try to fly on a broom and somehow getting hung upside down and stuck in the Quidditch Post somehow.
Not even weird like the time Ace flirted with Professor Dumbledore on a dare.
And he did it back.
It was a subtle kind of weird that if he hadn't started looking for it, he never would have picked up on.
Little hiccup like sounds during conversations out of nowhere.
An odd wink instead of blinking.
Her head sometimes tilting aggressively to one side before immediately righting itself when she thought no one was watching.
One afternoon he couldn't take it anymore.
He pulled Tyler to the side of a hallways, lowering his voice.
"Is your sister... hexed?" He asked warily, "Because if she is, we can get it looked at. St. Mungo's is the best hospital in the country."
"What do you mean-" Realization bloomed on his face, "Oh. That. I can't believe it took you this long to notice."
"Your mom is right," Tyler nodded, putting a finger to his chin, "You are kind of slow. And also you're just like your Uncle Ron."
"Hey!"
James composed himself, and asked again. "So what is it?"
"Tourette's Syndrome," Tyler said softly, "Or TS. It gives her ticks that she can't control. Her's is less severe than Dad's, which is why it probably took you so long to notice, but they're there."
"And these ticks," James repeated, "What are they?"
"Gulping," Riley cut in out of nowhere, scaring him half to death and shocking him with electricity to boot, "Twitching. They get worse when I'm stressed or when I use my powers. What of it?"
"No," James gasped out after he managed to restart his heart, "I was just curious."
"Ask me next time."
"Yes, ma'am."
"But anyway," Riley murmured, sliding down the wall so she could sit, "It was one of my Dad's biggest concerns before he agreed to having kids. Fifty percent chance to pass, after all. I know it's weird. Kids tell me that in school all the time. But I really just can't control it."
James took a seat next to her. "It's not as weird as you might think. Definitely not the weirdest thing I've ever seen, either."
"So what if you twitch a little? Wink instead of blink. Let your head jerk. If it happens, it happens," he cheered, "And if you can't control it, does it really matter? What makes this any worse than all the people who are weird on purpose?"
Riley had to laugh a little. "My family is weird and loving enough as it is, but now I'm the curious one. Give me an example."
"For starters," James beamed, proud of himself, "I know Hunter sometimes leaves the house in two left shoes just to diss his Grandmother. Or Emerald, who makes gems pop up in a pile so that Emily can lie on them in dragon form so Milo can pretend to play dragon slayer from atop Festus. And then there's Uncle Percy, which, do I even need to say more?"
"Compared to them, you're probably about as normal as anyone could possibly get."
"You're a good guy," Riley sighed, running a hand through her hair, "A nice mix of Uncle Percy and Aunt Abigail."
"Aunt Abigail?"
"Wade's mom. She's so awesome. She's a nurse for the army and can literally make you feel better with a touch."
"Then consider me flattered."
Tyler brought his fist down gently on James's head. "Still a little slow, though."
"Your sister is so nice to me. Why is she the only one?"
Oh James
