Chapter Twenty Four

I've been tagged again, people. I promised myself when I started writing that I would never post a chapter that didn't have a part of a story, so yeah. I've been tagged by @Demi_Witch Hunter.
So I have to write 5 things about myself.
I cannot comment the tag.
I have to complete it within a week.
I have to write out these rules.
And I have to tag 15 people. (I'm sorry)

I am a boy with brown hair and blue eyes.
I am in eighth grade and on the basketball team, in the band, as well as a school rep with a part time job as a fanfiction writer on wattpad.
I love Pokémon with a passion although I think the new Sun and Moon ones are pretty dumb. I mean, Palossand, really? It's a freaking sand castle.
Don't laugh, but I have a bedtime. Nine o'clock. I know it's kind of early, but my mom is a doctor and she wants me to get proper sleep. Bedtime in my house is like a religion.
I have three book ideas swirling around in my head, but I'm waiting until I finish one of my two ongoing fanfics before I start it. I've been trying to get one of them over with but I can't just rush a story.

Percy's POV

The Death Eater, with me, Annabeth, and Sophia in tow, had shadow travelled us to only the gods knew where. One minute we were having the time of our lives, the next, death eaters attack and we're kidnapped. Again. There are only two brightsides. Every time I escape with my friends, he'll have to shadow travel again and again, meaning eventually, he'll fade out of existence. Problem solved. The other thing is that now that I've been kidnapped, Annabeth says I can tell Sophia that we're demigods. And let's face it, she might well be a demigod, too. I just can't decide whose kid she'd be. I mean, she's probably not Zeus or Apollo. Not only do Zeus's children usually have striking electric blue eyes, but Sophia's way too good to have Zeus as a dad.

Annabeth had the Death Eater up by the collar of his shirt, growling in his face, "What do you want with us, Hades Spawn?" The Death Eater's mask had slipped off, revealing a shaggy head of black hair and dull eyes that were so dark they looked almost black. He smiled, "I only wanted Perseus to lead us into a new era where the Death Eaters ruled the world. Although I must say. The hot blonde is a bonus." Annabeth judo flipped him to the ground with a sickening crack. I winced, my own back sympathizing his pain. Annabeth smiled sweetly down at him and gestured for me to put him in the celestial bronze shackles that were ready and waiting for me on the wall. We were in my old cell. I knew because there were two pairs of shackles and my blood was still spattered on the wall and floor. They must not have very good janitors.

Sophia's eyes widened when she took in her surroundings and she frowned. "Why'd you call him Hades Spawn? Why are there already blood and shackles? How did we get here in the first place?" All of a sudden, a hologram of a winged shoe appeared over her head as Hermes got off of his cell phone just long enough to claim his daughter. Sophia looked bored and unimpressed, "And now there's a shoe floating over my head. That's just great." I should've realized sooner. Not only was she nimble and had a razor sharp wit, but she had the same brown hair and mischievous eyes as the Stoll brothers. I guess most Hermes children have sandy blonde hair, but not all genes come from the gods. In my best Chiron impression, I said, "All hail, Sophia-Grace Lander, daughter of Hermes!" Annabeth smiled, "I know Percy's been dying to tell you are secret for a while now. I guess now that you're a demigod, we can." Sophia backed up a little, "Demigod? Please. I prefer the term omnipotent celestial deity. Now seriously, Annabeth, what's the big secret?" I sat her down against the wall, keeping my eyes on the all too confident son of Hades restrained in celestial bronze. "We've already told Ginny, Harry, Ron, and Hermione. And we're about to tell you. We're all children of the gods. Me, Annabeth, Luna, Nico, Professor Snape, and even Connor. Descendants of Greek gods that I assure you are entirely real," Annabeth said, "I'm sure Percy is dying to tell you about how big of a hero he is, but that can wait until we're safely away from that son of Hades over there." I rolled my eyes. If it were my choice, no one would know about my adventures. It was just a collection of stories about every time the Fates decided my life was too easy and boring.

I walked over to the son of Hades, marveling how much he looked like Nico. The same pale skin, black hair, and even the near black eyes. As far as I was concerned, Hades hadn't broken his sacred oath and his only children were Nico, Bianca, and if you count his Roman aspect, Hazel. For a prisoner, he seemed way too haughty, as if we were the ones chained and not him. I drenched my words in charmspeak and looked him in the eyes, "What's your name?" He didn't hesitate, not even for a second. He wanted me to know the information, I could see it written all over his face. "Steven. Steven Umbrano, son of Hades, and at your service." I was uncomfortable. He must have something planned if he's just going to let us wander free and interrogate him like this. Annabeth was quietly telling Sophia about what it meant to be a demigod and blah blah blah, and I wished Annabeth was here instead. She made a much more terrifying captor. "Why do you want me, of all people? What's your business with the wizards?" He tutted, "No, Perseus. One question at a time. I suppose, since you are my oh-so-nerve-wracking captor, I will have to let this slide. You already know this part. Not only are you the grandson of Kronos and Voldemort, but you are the most powerful demigod of the generation. With you on our side, no one will be able to stand in our way. And as for the wizards, they are but pawns. I am going to bring honor to Hades's name by taking over Hecate's pet community." I was startled. His evil plan reminded me vaguely of Antaeus and how he killed people in Poseidon's name.

"Hades has a throne on Olympus now! He helped in the wars and is honored. He doesn't need his son to take over Europe!" I said in a desperate attempt to get him to stop before it was too late. He laughed from his chains, the maniacal sound echoing through the small confines of the room. "And who was the one to get him honor? You, a son of Poseidon who, by the oath all of those years ago, should not even exist!" Annabeth strode beside me, crossing her arms over her chest. "And how do you exist, son of Hades?" He chuckled again, the sound sending shivers up my spine, "I was born before the pact. Zeus struck me with a bolt when I was only fifteen. I had no idea of my demigod heritage, no anger. A perfectly innocent soul. I was sent to the Underworld. Hades rescued me from certain destiny in the Fields of Asphodel. I came back through the doors of death, right under my father's nose. He taught me everything I know about my powers, but now I was angry at Zeus. How could he just kill children like that when he cheated on Hera and created children that he just left to die? He thought he was above the River Styx just because he was the King of the Gods. This is just as much honor for Hades as it is revenge against Zeus. Once I take over the Hogwarts and the Ministry of Magic, I will storm Olympus and send Zeus to Tartarus as he had his own father. I will install Hades as the King of Olympus."

I couldn't exactly blame him for wanting to get Zeus off of the throne. He was an arrogant god who thought that he could break the rules and cheat on his wife without consequence. He might be a better option than Kronos, but he is totally unfit for rule. I couldn't forget all of those times he petitioned to kill me just because I was born. He tried to murder the children of his brothers when he had so many of his own demigod children. Any one of the members of the Olympian Council would be a better ruler than Zeus. Save Dionysus, Aphrodite, and Ares, of course. But that was no reason subject the wizards to almost certain death against the gods.

"I totally understand," I said, "Zeus has tried to kill me more times than he can count. Hestia is the eldest, and extremely fair and powerful. She would make a good ruler. So would Poseidon and Hades. But we can manage that without the wizards. There are other ways of revenge without trying to use people who've never even heard of the gods. Please. Don't do this." I couldn't see emotion past his guarded eyes, and I thought that I had gotten through to him. But at that moment, he disappeared from his chains into shadow. His voice rang throughout the room, blaring in my ears.

"Did you think it would be that easy, Perseus?" He taunted from nowhere, "Did you think a couple of heartfelt words would stop me from toppling Zeus from the throne? There is more to this than you can understand. There is more to this than you could possibly even imagine. This is only the beginning. And if you will not surrender, than we will have to force you to your knees." An evil cackle came from the doorway, and we turned just as he slipped out of the room. I hated that sense of foreboding that suddenly flooded my body, and I had Riptide uncapped before chains appeared out of thin air and the trap was set. I could do nothing but watch as the chains clamped painfully around my wrists and the tendrils of godly metal weaved themselves over the walls like shiny snakes. Sophia, Annabeth, and I were plastered to opposite ends of the room. Sophia faced me fearfully and Annabeth, who was beside her, reassured her that it was going to work out. As I watched Annabeth, I saw the gears turning in her head and the twinkle in her eye when she found the solution.

"So what brilliant plan has just been created in your head?" I asked, "Anything that can be put into motion, I don't know, now?" Annabeth narrowed her eyes at me playfully. "Well, Seaweed Brain, if you insist, I guess I could tell you now. It's not quite an escape plan, but for now, we can get out of these chains" She wiggled around until her dagger was strewn from her belt and onto the floor. "Activate Plan Omega." I raised an eyebrow, only to have my mouth fall open in shock as her dagger was lifted into the air. I turned my gaze to Annabeth, who elaborated. "You know how I went to visit my cousin Magnus?" she asked, "Well, he is also a descendant of the gods, just not the ones you're used to. Norse gods, to be exact. He's a son of Frey. He's got a talking sword that can attack and talk by itself. So when we visited Olympus for our rewards, I requested a dagger just like it, although mine can't talk. Jack can get kind of annoying. Plan Omega is a last resort. I'll pass out for a couple of seconds because it needs the energy to be able to cut through celestial bronze." I furrowed my eyebrows, watching as the dagger sawed away at my chains, "Why didn't you tell me sooner? And here I was worrying that it had some magical lasers or Seaweed Brain hunting technology. It's just a floating dagger." As soon as I said that, the blade reached forward and nicked my arm. "Ow!" I yelped. It was like a paper cut. Annabeth smirked, "I may not have allowed it to have a voice, but Hephaestus did give it a mind of its own." Soon, I was free, and I helped the dagger free the girls. As Annabeth took hold of it, she promptly fainted. I caught her just before she hit the ground, waiting for her to come back to consciousness.

"Just my luck," Sophia said, "Just when I find out that I actually have a dad and an entire cabin filled with brothers and sisters there's a nutjob trying to topple some immortal lightning rod!" I shrugged, "It's not the first time. Zeus is pretty unpopular when you look past the 'king of the gods that can kill you with the most powerful lightning bolt in existence' bit." Sophia rolled her eyes towards the sky, not even bothering to respond. There was a sudden intake of breath as Annabeth quickly returned to consciousness. I helped her sit up, my hand bracing her as she took shuddering breaths.

She smiled weakly, "Alright, Seaweed Brain, time to get out of here." I walked over to where Annabeth's flying dagger had carved away a sheet of celestial bronze. I knelt beside it and sliced it into three book sized slabs, taking one and handing the others to Sophia and Annabeth. Annabeth took it without a word, and Sophia silently questioned me. "If we run into any interference you're gonna need it," I explained, "And when we get back Leo can probably give it something better to do than confine innocent demigods." She shrugged and took hold of it.

I crept out of the room, trying my best not to make a sound. And it might have worked, too, if I hadn't tripped the alarms and sent blaring wails through the building. I grabbed Annabeth and Sophia and tried to travel away, but found my powers were still blocked. "Di immortales," I muttered, thoroughly annoyed with Steven, "All I want to do is escape and tell the whole world about his evil plan, and here he is, setting state of the art security all over the place." Sophia scoffed, and I'm pretty sure it was not aimed at Steven. "Yeah," she said, shooting me a sideways glance, "He should be more considerate." Annabeth swatted at the both of us and mumbled, "Will the both of you please shut up?"

Steven's voice once again resonated through the halls, attacking my ears from every direction. "You are clever, demigods, I'll give you that much. But not clever enough. The downfall of Zeus is imminent, and it is inevitable. You will not be saving his sorry behind a third time, Perseus Jackson and Annabeth Chase. No one can save you now." His laughter was the only thing worse than his unnaturally magnified voice. I felt like the floors were vibrating under my feet and heard ringing in my ears. Not a pleasant sensation if you ask me.

We continued running through the halls, occasionally ducking or coming to a screeching halt when balls of light flew over our heads or the walls in front of us shot spikes just as we're about to run past. After all of the classic booby traps were well behind us, we stopped running, panting. I hunched over and put my hands on my knees, gasping for breath. "I get that Pluto is the god of wealth, but how the Hades is he getting all of this stuff?" Annabeth shook her head, tucking a stray curl of hair behind her ear. "I don't know, Seaweed Brain, but this guy is dangerous." Sophia sat on the floor, crossing her legs, despite us still being in the home of a very hostile maniac of a demigod. "He's only a century old demigod. Shouldn't be too hard to escape unscathed and spill all of his secrets to the world," she said sarcastically, "I mean, all he's got is high tech security and an army of dark wizards." I stood upright once more. "Come on, guys," I said, "We've got to get out of here."

As we ran, I continued to try and shadow travel, but could not. Either something was blocking me or I was physically too exhausted to do much more than run. My mind was whirling, but I did not stop to contemplate any of my thoughts. What mattered now was getting out. What matters later is to find out how to stop Steven Umbrano and keep my entire family alive. All at once, we stopped running. It wasn't our choice to stop, let me assure you. We slammed into an unseen barrier and were now on the floor, groaning in pain. "Who knew air could hurt so much?" Sophia grumbled. I rolled onto my stomach and pushed myself back up into a standing position. "Anyone who's ever battled Jason Grace," I told her grimly, "Now let's try to get past this thing." I tried burning away at a single section and slashing at it with Riptide while Annabeth took the less stupid route and tried to analyze our situation. She tapped the barrier with a single finger, sending light shimmering over it. "Forcefield," she muttered, "Not many ways to get past something like this." I paused for only a second to catch my breath when I realized Sophia was no longer with us. She was on the other side of the wall.

"Guys," she said, holding up an open lock, "Side door. This kid isn't that smart." Annabeth and I simultaneously rolled our eyes. We'd been through so much godly this and monstrous that that it was quite a relief to finally have a simple mortal solution to something. But it was demeaning to know that while we were sizing it up with our blades and with our minds, all we really had to do was pick a lock and walk through a door.

Together, we burst through a set of golden double doors and out into the open. I couldn't help but grin, knowing that we could finally get out. I looked back upon a tall manor that loomed over rolling green hills and hedges. I saw portraits of men with shiny blonde hair and cursed. "Malfoy Manor," I told them, "Hermione and Harry told me about this place. Not somewhere you'd want to be." Annabeth grabbed my hand, "We'll worry about Malfoy later. For now, let's just get out of this place."

I grabbed Sophia's shoulder and closed my eyes. I felt the same spinning sensation that I had gotten so used to and we were on solid ground once more. I didn't know how long we had been gone, but it was long enough to have Piper, Harry, Luna, Ginny, Ron, and Hermione huddled on the couch, discussing plans for finding us. What Piper was doing here, I had no idea, but her godly presence was surely much appreciated by the wizards. Nico was alone in the corner with his eyes closed, but I knew that he was taking this harder than anyone. The three of us appeared behind the couch with a soft thump on the carpet. My eyes flashed open and I grinned motioning for Sophia, Annabeth, and Nico, who had spotted us, to be quiet. I leaped over the back of the couch and crashed onto the cushions next to Harry, who was still engrossed in his conversation. "So, Harry," I said, keeping my voice casual, "How do you plan on finding me?" He didn't even look up, "Not sure yet." Ron's head was still ducked and he unwittingly joined our conversation, "Will you shut up for one bloody second and let us think, Percy?" Suddenly, their heads shot up in unison and they shouted, "Percy!" Sophia was unable to keep the smile out of her voice as she spoke. "Wow, guys," she said, "I know I'm not as hot as Percy, but I exist, you know." I could feel the sarcasm rolling off of Annabeth's tongue as she spoke, "I didn't know you all loved Percy so much that you don't even recognize us anymore." Their comments weren't really necessary as Piper jumped on the plushy couch cushioned, using them to propel her over the back of the couch and allow her to tackle Annabeth to the floor in a hug. "Well, Pipes," Annabeth said, her voice tense from having all of the air forced out of her lungs mere seconds ago, "I'm happy to know you missed me." Piper got up, rolling her eyes. We all knew that she was embarrassed by her completely uncharacteristic display, and we turned our eyes away as she promptly flashed out of the room.

Hermione glared at us.

"You three have some explaining to do."
