Chapter 33: The Trickster and The Sun
"Atlantis, Maia, this is your cousin Nico, he is a son of Hades so keep that information on the down-low." I told them as I introduced a suddenly shy Nico to my daughters.
Atlantis instantly started to chat with Nico despite him not saying a word and started to drag him around the camp talking, and talking about the places and their history.
"Father, is it safe for Nico to be here. Him being a Son of Hades." Maia asked her face serious as she stared up at me.
"We'll protect him from the horrors for as long as we can. Age twelve he will be claimed regardless, at then I will let him make a decision. Don't worry Maia, he's family." I said placing a hand on her shoulder.
"Where are you going?" Maia asked knowing I would be leaving shortly.
"I need to have a chat with Apollo and Hermes. Please watch over them and make sure Atlantis doesn't saying anything." I said fully knowing her little sister can sometimes become too excited and slip something up.
Maia just nodded, put her bow against her back with arrows, and calmly walked toward her sister and cousin.
Once making sure they were okay, I teleported back to Olympus, finding the mischievous gods weren't that hard. They were hiding behind a bush near Aphrodite's palace.
"You guys did something didn't you?" I asked behind them very amused especially when they jumped and whirled around with their hands up.
"We didn't do anything?" Hermes said convincingly but he was the god of lies.
"Why would you suspect us?" Apollo said and I rolled my eyes especially when a black poof of a bomb went off behind them and into the air, from Aphrodite's home.
I raised an eyebrow at the two who glanced at one another then behind them at the home, "Uh...We didn't do anything." Squeaked Apollo not very convincing, sure, god of truth who pretty much can't lie.
I rolled my eyes, "Come on." I said and gestured to my own home on Olympus.
"Why?" Hermes asked tilting his head slightly and looked like he just might run off.
"I want to talk about the Gnomes, I could care less about the pranks you do, with or without Loki, as long as you stay away from my home both here and the camps." I said as they started to follow my blue home with hints of sea green.
We walked safely away from the carnage the two gods set up too especially from a very annoyed and pissed off goddess of beauty.
I had to hid a smile as she walked in front of me, the two gods hiding behind me. I coughed trying to hid the laugh bubbling in my throat, her normal straight and perfect hair was now pitch black going every which way.
Her pink silk dress was now black and torn at the bottom, the makeup on her face was no longer see-able because of the black paint on her face that was smeared with a hand.
"You two." She growled at the two gods who ducked behind me. I contained myself no matter how much I wanted to point out how UnAphrodite she just look, especially with everything, including jewelry, now black and very non-perfect.
"What can I do Aphrodite." I asked kindly looking at her with fake concern, I always disliked her especially when it came to her meddling with Annabeth and I, over time it softened but she was still a flirty pain.
"Hand those two over now." She growled with a dangerous glint in her eyes as she glared at the two men, well one in eighteen year old form, trying to hid behind me.
"I'm sorry Aphrodite, please excuse these two adolescents, I need them for some information. Once I'm done I might hand them to you. In the meantime I would plan on cleaning up and then we can talk about punishment." I said respectfully.
She glared at me for a second, then at the two males behind me, "One hour. Then I want them at my home to clean the paint and redo the coloring on the wall they have destroyed." She said putting her nose in the air as some way of showing power or something.
"I will see to it." I said and motioned for Hermes and Apollo to follow, "You guys are idiots." I muttered after a safe distance.
"You aren't going to actually hand us to her, right?" Hermes asked looking worried.
"Crime, meet punishment." I said tone of voice making them shush, decision was final.
"Fine." Apollo huffed and pouted, "What do you want to know about the Gnomes?" he asked once we were in my palace.
"Any ideas what they want?" I asked calmly and relaxed not that worried they might do something.
"I see them sometimes, but they always hid when I fly over." Hermes said picking at some packages in the messenger bag next to him.
"Same here, whenever I fly the Sun Chariot they always hid, they always rubbed me that they were trying to find something." Apollo said with an uncaring shrug.
"Can we go now? We have 50 minutes of freedom from Aphrodite, we can at least hid." Apollo pleaded with me.
I pinched my nose and waved them off, nothing to help with the gnomes, nothing. I shook my head sadly and teleported to the address I gave Castiel the last time.
I heard bickering which I recognized as Dean and Sam Winchester, they seemed to be arguing what to do with the gnome in the cage.
"Do I want to know where Castiel went?" I asked staring at the gnome in the cage who seemed to be trying to bite his way out.
"Beats us. He just left this car and gnome with us. Where have you been?" Dean asked glaring at me and then at the gnome.
"Trying to find answers." I huffed still annoyed at how little I learned.
"Anything?" Sam asked as he stopped reading some sort of article.
"No, my cousins and uncle didn't know anything usefully other than they are really good hiders." I stressed and felt a headache coming on, "Have you looked through the car?" I asked them after a moment.
"When were we supposed to do this?" Dean asked annoyed and seemed to be cranky, probably from being away from either the Impala or something.
"Castiel really did just dump and fly off? I thought I taught him better than that." I muttered the last part but it seemed both Winchesters and Bobby who had been silent heard.
"You taught Castiel?" Bobby asked leaning forward.
"At the time the Archangels were too busy to deal with new angels. I was more of the reliable gods and Castiel found me on accident. He was confused about humans and asked questions. I helped him and we hung out until he just didn't return on day. Figured his superiors found out and banned him from talking to me." I said with a shrug.
It still seemed to shock the Winchesters but Bobby didn't look too surprised at the answer, I ignored them in favor of searching the car.
It was a truck, one of those that has that metal box in the back even if the whole thing look ready to fall apart.
"This latch.." I muttered, it was a number lock and seemed way more precious than the whole beat up truck.
"Do you have a code?" Sam asked getting over the previous information and instead looked at the lock.
"I have a better solution than an unknown code." I said and with little effort, got solidified water from air and put it all around the lock before freezing it.
"What's that suppose to achieve?" Dean asked yet wary by what I had just done.
I stood up straight and raised an eyebrow at him, all the while I brought my foot up and brought it down hard onto the lock.
I felt and heard the ice shattering and the click of the lock opening, "Impressive." Sam said as he took off the freezing lock and started to open the chest.
"Really?" Dean look puzzled as he stared inside the trunk and I felt confused too.
Moving softly I picked up the wooden clock that was old yet gleaned in the sun. It was polished but why would the gnomes want this?
I heard rusting all around and swiftly turned, all around were gnomes coming out of bushes and trees, expert hiders.
They were all staring at one thing, the clock.
