Previously on PJD:

They throw me in my cell and I land on the hard cold floor, not even attempting to get on my bed. I don't stop crying for hours. Life without Annabeth is unthinkable. I failed her, failed my mom, failed everyone. They did tell me they returned my mom back home, but I don't know what to believe anymore. But I do know one thing.

I got what I needed to know.

My Wise Girl is dead.

Percy's POV

I wake up in a cold tank, with only shorts on. My bare chest feels cold against glass underneath me. I slated up, groaning and clutching my head. Kronos said they had healed it before but...

Then I realize. I am in a glass box. I've been here before.

A simulation. Outside of the box stands Kronos and a lot of scientists. Kronos walks up to the glass.

"This is a simulation, I'm not an idiot," I growl. Kronos just smiles. The glass doesn't seem to block out any noise from the outside because I hear what he says perfectly clearly.

"If you think it is, you are an idiot," he grins. He places one finger on the glass and taps, then walks away slowly.

"Do it, Cal," he says to one scientist. There's pipes on the back of the glass, and my breathing quickens. I hear rushing water, but it hasn't started entering the box yet.

"What are you trying to accomplish here?" I ask Kronos. He spins on his heel and walks back to the box.

"Well, you've killed to many of our top scientists too easily. Your a danger to us, even though you have all the divergent qualities we do need. Our most powerful. But we've got just as good. Well, almost. Anyway, we don't need you anymore, so we're killing you. Just like in your fear simulation. We can get just as good results from our next subject," he explains with a evil grin. He points over his shoulder and behind him.

Suddenly the water starts rushing in and it is already up to my ankles. I look behind Kronos. Tied up to a chair, gagged, bound down, hair a mess, dirty, but as beautiful as ever. Annabeth. Her eyes are wild and scared, and she looks like she is trying to scream. Tears are rolling down her cheeks. She is staring right at me.

"Annabeth!" I yell, pounding on the glass. The water is up to my knees now. But this is water. Water I can deal with. My kind of water. I sink to my knees, absorbing all the water I can into my energy. Something just makes me feel so powerful about the water. Annabeth keeps screaming, and it's silence haunts me. Kronos is just laughing.

"What, hoping you'll drown faster Jackson?" He asks. I just stand up. It's at my waist now. All I can think about is Annabeth's face and how she is alive.

"The body was fake. We made a replica. But we won't need one for you," he grins. The water is up to my neck, rushing faster. I stand there and we have a stare off. As the water is about to engulf my mouth, I say something that causes him to laugh, but immediately regret it.

"But, Kronos, you better get to work, because you will be needing one," I say, and all my strength goes into the one shove that breaks the glass in front of me and I tumble onto the open floor, sucking in all the air I can.

"Impossible! That glass was unbreakable to ten thousand pounds of concrete!" Kronos roars. I ignore the pieces of glass in my skin and scramble up, grabbing a loaded gun off the floor and killing five men at once. I run towards Annabeth and grab her whole chair, and run out the halls.

Alarms instantly blare and guards fill the halls. I enter the nearest room I see and shut it, locking it. No ones knows we're in here yet. Annabeth is crying and breathing hard, still all tied up and gagged. I look around and grab a gun and a knife off the table and put the gun on the floor, and cut her ropes. The she undoes her gag and we just stare at each other for seconds.

We embrace in a kiss that lasts so long I wish that it never would end.

"I love you so much Percy," she says.

"I thought you were dead. They said-they lied-" I choke up and start crying. She pulls me into a hug now, comforting me and crying herself.

"They did try to kill me Percy. They used the death serum," she says.

"The...death serum?" I ask. Annabeth nods.

"Erudite's work. Each faction has a different serum. Erudite's is death. But I...I'm divergent like you. I was the first ever to survive it, resist it. They faked my death. But they told me you were as good as gone. And then today..." she stops and we are in only the noise of alarms and guards running through the halls.

"Cmon, we need to get out of here Wise Girl," I say. She picks up the gun and I slide the knife into my shorts, and look around. There's a bullet proof vest across the room. I put it on and then Annabeth points to the window.

"Lets go out there," she whispers.

We go up to the window and Annabeth gulps. It's at least five stories to get down.

"We have to climb down. There's no other way. Look, the windows. They are lined up like we can use them as a ladder," she says. I nod and motion for her to go.

"You go first. I'm not risking losing you again," I say. She gives me a frown but goes anyway. She starts climbing down. Alarms are still blaring, but the Erudite streets are empty.

Suddenly, one of her arms loses its hold and she slips down.

"Annabeth!" I cry out much too loudly.

"This way!" I hear a guard yell. I panic, and grab Annabeth's hand, righting it. She thanks me and keeps climbing. She is halfway down when the door handle moves. Then it moves more and more. Then someone starts banging on it and breaking it down slowly.

"They're in there! Go go go!" Yells someone. Then I lean over the window. Annabeth is only about twenty feet to the bottom. She looks up at me and makes a motion. The door is starting to crack now. Then she mouths to me.

'Jump'

The door breaks down, and I do. I jump, slamming the window shut as I do, and falling down. Down into Annabeth's arms. She grabs my arm and we are hanging there. Then I burst out laughing. Hysteria, confusion, love, I don't know. I just do. Then Annabeth laughs too. I put my foot in a window hold and climb to the bottom. Annabeth nears the bottom and jumps into my arms. I kiss her again.

"It's going to be okay. Let's go home," I whisper.

"Your not going anywhere," a voice says. Kronos. I turn around, grabbing a Annabeth's hand protectively.

"Oh yes we are, now if you'll just-" Annabeth starts but he cuts her off, shooting right at her face. I cry out, then quick as lightning I put my knife in front of her face. In some miraculous miracle, the bullet deflects and lands on the ground somewhere. Kronos raises his eyebrows. He is clearly alone.

I raise my gun, and say the words I relish rolling off my tongue.

"Fuck off, Kronos," I growl and shoot him in the chest. He collapses to the ground dead. I take a shocked Annabeth's hand and we run right past him. But Annabeth shrieks as he grabs her ankle and trips her, a knife clutched in his hand. I yell but Annabeth just grins.

"You took Percy from me, bitch," she spits out and shoots him right in the face. He is dead now. Annabeth gets up, and sighs, brushing herself off.

"Let's go Seaweed Brain," she says, and we run to the train, jump on it, and head back to dauntless.
