CHAPTER 9- The Truth

I woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of a terrified all too familiar scream ringing through out the camp.

By the time I had put on my cloak and had come down the stairs, the rest of the army was already there, clad in a very wierd mixture of pyjamas and their cloaks.

"What was that?" Luke asked me.

"Annabeth." I replied before pushing past him and rushing outside, away from the bright lights of the cabin and into the dark night.

"Where is she?" I spun around desperately trying to locate her position.

Another scream sounded.

"The fireworks beach." Selena pin pointed and together we ran through the forest easily, out into the sand.

Annabeth was laying on the sand, breathing heavily. A stranger in a deep blood red cloak, that looked almost black in the night, stood over her, pointing the circular head of his silver staff at her.

He started muttering something and a glowing light began to seep through the staff head drifting towards Annabeth.

Before I could even think to move, Arial who had been hiding behind a tall tree filled with fright, now ran towards Annabeth and the stranger.

"Stowp you old sot!" She screamed at the top of her voice as she launched herself at the stranger who apparantely hadn't seen her before. The spell he was muttering broke and the vapourous light dissapeared.

It gave us enough time to rush towards them but he saw us and muttered something under his breath. A whisp of light shot at my friends and froze them in place but it somehow missed me completely and I had the fealing he inteded it to.

He chuckled deeply. "Omega." He said, adressing me.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Arial trying to help Annabeth to sit up.

"And you are?" I asked sticking my sword under his chin.

"Someone you needn't know." He said with another laugh, pushing Riptide away from his face easil with his index finger. "Now, Omega. I have something to ask of you."

I pointed Riptide at his chest threateningly.

"Let them go first." I said, jerking my head behind me, my gaze never leaving his face, to where my friends and Annabeth were with Ariel.

He ignored me. "You give me what I want or I..." he cassually pointed his staff at Annabeth. "Take the girl's life."

"What do you want?" I growled.

"Drop the sword."

I lowered it.

"Drop it."

My only weapon clattered onto the sand soundlessly.

"Now." He drawled. "You give me the girl."

"That wasn't in the plan." I growled back.

He laughed. "Oh not the blondie. The little one."

"Not happening, Woodoo Guy."

"You're funny." He laughed.

Annabeth was now on her feet and she seemed to have heard our conversation because she hugged Arial closer to her side.

"No?" The cloaked stranger questioned with a pout. "Well then..."

He pointed his spear at annabwth a green light hit her. She fell to the sand, writhing in pain and screaming my name over and over. Not Omega. But Percy.

I used the winds to lift my sword back into my hands and stabbed him straight through his chest. But where my the Celestial Bronze touched simply dissolved into black dust before reforming when I pulled Riptide out.

I tried to slice him in half at the waist but it was only reduced to black dust before he reformed again.

He laughed deeply. Annabeth was still screaming.

"Stwop it!" Arial shouted, looking scared. She saw me and tried to rush towards me, but I stopped her with a gust of wind. It was too dangerois for her to get close.

"C'mon sweetie." He coaxed. "I've got candy."

"No!" Arial shouted, a tear dropping down her cheek as she tried to force herself out of the little air bubble she was surrounded in. "I don't want candy! I want my mommy!"

"Ive got your mommy." He said. "I can-"

"Shut up!" I shouted, trying desperately to stab him.

"The blondie or your daughter?" He asked, blocking one of my swipes easily with his sceptor.

My guard dropped as he caught me off guard. "That's right Perseus Jackson." He whispered viciously. "What do you get when a baby forms out of mere thoughts out of a dumb blonde? A blondelusional child! Get it! Dilusional! Blondelusional?" He laughed at his own stupid joke. "Yes, she was born from her thoughts. She appeared at the borders of Camp Half Blood. Her mother and father...well, they will die if you don't give her to me."

I looked back at the little girl. Arial. Then at the screaming figure on the sand. Annabeth.

"No." I said. And this time, instead of trying hopelessly to destroy him, I sliced his sceptor in two.

A million shards of multi coloured lights flew off in every direction and the force view me back.

I willed the strongest force field I could muster up to protect Arial right before darkness closed in around me.

When I woke up, light was seeping through the horizon in layers of very light orange and pink.

My whole body was hurting like I had just payed another visit to the Styx but I didnt care about that at all.

Beside me, Annabeth was sprawled out, unconscious. The first thing I did was to make sure she was okay.

My friends were asleep on the sand, now unfrozen.

The cloaked figure was no where to be seen.

And not too far away, Arial was curled up asleep. I staggered to my feet weekly and walked unsteadily towards her. The protective dome was gone but there didnt seem to be anything wrong with her.

I knelt beside her and carefully rolled her onto her back. Her black hair sprawled out behind her and her soft lips were gaping open a little, letting out little tufts of breath.

She was clutching something in her hand. I rook it from her griping little fingers gently. It was a broken glass shard, as large as a phone, from the spear head the red caped dude was holding.

I slipped it into my pockets and snapped my eyes back at Arial.

That was when it finally sunk in. She was so beautiful and- and she was- she was my daughter. Mine and Annabeths. Oh gods. Panic atarted to well up inside me.

Arials eyes flew open and she stared at me. Then when she finally came to her senses, she sat up instaneously.

"Mommy!" She screamed, looking around as if she was lost, not being able to grasp the reality of the world. Tears started ro appeae in her eyes.

"Sh..." I muttered, gathering her up in my arms and hugging her to my chest. "Mommy's okay."

"Daddy?"

"Daddy's okay too."
