CHAPTER 3 - The Mission

Right now, 10 million years later all the way in Chaos Planet (don't comment. Chaos's idea.) I was in my new room, sitting on my bed, doing some paper work Chaos asked me to do.

It was definitely not fun. Something about a higher income for Klugners (again, don't comment).

My dyslexic and ADHD brain was just making sense of what the paper said when Luke burst into my room. Let me get one thing straight. No one comes into my room apart from me.

No one.

Why?

Well...because...I dunno!

So when Luke burst into my room, I was more than surprised. Specially when he jumped onto my bed and hid behind me.

"Castellan, I'm gonna kill you." I growled at him.

"Don't worry about killing me. Silena will do that for you." Luke said holding up a bag of makeup. Silena's prized makeup, to be more exact.

Pretty soon, Silena burst into the room too.

Now, you might be wondering how the hades Silena and Luke were here. In fact, Bekandorf, Zoe, Bianca, Michael, Lee, Castor and Ethan were here too. After I became the commander, Chaos introduced me to my new team. When I first saw them, their faces were hidden in a hooded cloak and when they took them off, well...you could guess how surprised and happy I was.

Now, after thousands of years of working together, we knew each other and our moves and techniques back to front.

"Percy, if you're helping that son of Hermes, I'll have no choice but to kill you too." Silena said in a dangerously calm voice.

"I'm not helping him." I said, moving out from In front of him, shooting like an apologetic look.

"Percy! Man, I thought you were my friend!" Luke said. "Guess I was wrong then."

"Yeah, guess you were wrong." I said watching Silena charm speaking Luke into slapping himself. Then she charms peaked Luke to give her makeup bag again.

Soon afterwards, Luke woke up from his daze.

"Hey!" He looked at me incredulously. "You were just sitting there while she was charm speaking me into slapping myself?"

"Pretty much." I said, grinning.

Luke shook his head and lunged at Silena, trying to rip away the make up bag from her but eventually, the bag flew from both of their grasps and smashed onto my bedside table where I kept my alarm clock, three framed photos and other random stuff. And out of all those items, one of my photos just had to crash and fall to the floor.

Luke and Silena froze and looked at the photo that was now on the floor, face down.

I slowly put away the paper work and got out of bed. Kneeling down next to the photo, I carefully and slowly picked it up and looked at the front.

The glass was cracked but fortunately, the photo behind it was perfectly fine. Unfortunately, it was the picture of me and Annabeth.

We were at the camp canoe lake laughing at something, not knowing that the Stoll brothers were taking pictures of us.

I softly brushed my thumb across Annabeth's laughing face as a tear dropped onto the cracked glass.

"Percy, are you alright?" Silena asked worriedly, sitting by my side and draping an arm over my shoulder.

"I'm so sorry man, It's my fault that it cracked." Luke said coming to sit by me too. "And- hey! Is that Annabeth?"

Silena shot him an unbelievable look but I smiled and answered Luke. "Yeah, that Annabeth. We're seventeen in that."

"Wait! Your eyes in that picture! Both of your eyes! They look fractured and...broken." Luke said suddenly. Silena pointedly stared at him as if blaming him silently for his tactlessness.

"It's...complicated." I muttered. The picture was taken right after the Giant War so the eight of us, Annabeth piper, Jason, Frank, Leo, Hazel, Nico and I were pretty much broken.

"Hey, what happened after I...you know, died?" Luke asked me.

"Nothing much really. It was all fine." I said, hoping to avoid anything to do with talking about the giant war.

I hadn't told them about that yet. No one knew about my whole life apart from Chaos. No one even knew that I loved Annabeth. It was still too painful to talk about. Even after all those years. Whenever, Annabeth was mentioned, I felt tears brimming up in my eyes. No one talks about my mom though, because they know that it'd be too painful for me.

Just then, Ethan burst into the room. "Luke!" He said, grinning. "I need to show you something. Now! C'mon!"

Luke groaned, got up and followed Ethan out of the room leaving Silena and I alone.

After a moments silence, Silena said, "You love her, don't you?"

I looked at her surprised. "Yeah. I do." I whispered softly.

"Did you two get together after the war?" She asked carefully, though I knew that she was barely controlling herself and trying not to squeal in delight.

"Yeah." I whispered, my eyes already filling in tears.

"And you had to leave her. Unable to tell her where you're going?" She guessed.

"Yeah." I said, a tear rolling down my cheek. "I miss her." And then the dam broke and tears flawed freely down my cheeks. Silena pulled me into a hug like a big sister would do and let me cry onto her shoulders.

"I miss her, Silena." I whispered through my tears.

"Shh. It's okay, Percy." Silena said to me for comfort. "She'll still be waiting for you, wherever she is and someday, you'll go back to her too."

We just sat there, her holding me close and me, sobbing onto her shoulder.

Then, finally, I regained my composure and wiped away the tears using the edge of my shirt.

I smiled a weak smile at Silena. "Thanks Silena." I said.

"No problem, Percy. And remember, all of us will always have your back."

*******************

I was laying down on my bed, staring at the far left wall. My room was amazing.

The wall I was staring at reflected the fireworks beach back at camp. Sometimes I see people walking there. I saw Grover and Juniper taking a walk in the beach. They smiled a lot at each other but it never reached their eyes.

When it was the Fourth of July for them, I see everyone gathered there. Everyone except the person I want to see most. Annabeth was never there. I see Connor and Travis, fooling about but something was wrong. They were doing it half-heartedly. Leo would help with the fireworks, but I would see him staring out at the sea as if he was hoping someone would appear there. Then once I saw a girl with caramel hair. Calypso. She would walk upto Leo and slip her hand into his, making him smile.

I'd see Frank and Hazel, having a picnic under the fireworks, Piper and Jason. Chris and Clarrise.

I never see Annabeth, though.

But I always see a black haired girl at the beach. Every day. She was no older than six and looked joyfull and happy. Whenever she was at the beach, she would dance around, skip and play in the sand.

Today, as I always do in my free time, I was staring at the wall.

And today, like every other day, I saw the small girl. She walked right up to the water till she was submerged up to her waist. I could tell that she was giggling. The she raised her hands and the water flew up.

I sat up straighter and watched her closer. She concentrated and twisted her arms around in a playful manner and the water copied her movements.

She ran out of the water, completely dry and ran towards the woods, disappearing from my sight. Not a minute passed when she came running back but this time with an older girl.

I got up from the bed and walked over to the wall, putting a hand against it, staring at her.

The girl had blonde hair and although her grey eyes looked broken, she was smiling as she looked at the smaller girl who was pulling her hand and leading her to the water.

But then when Annabeth realised where she was, she stopped walking and stared out at the ocean. The smaller girl stopped tugging at her and asked her something.

Annabeth shook her head and knelt down next to the girl, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear.

The girl begged her further and gave her a cute puppy dog face.

Finally, Annabeth agreed making the girl over joyed beyond measures. They walked to the water. The little girl walked right in but Annabeth stopped at the shoreline and tentatively stepped forward. As the water washed over her feet, a smile began to appear on her face.

Then she walked in deeper, soaking her jeans.

Eventually the smaller girl and Annabeth started a water fight but it only lasted a few minutes because the girl manipulated the water to show Annabeth. Annabeth just stood there, knee deep in the water, staring at the girl.

She quickly got over her shock and ushered the girl out of the water again. The girl touched Annabeth's hand and dried her instantly just as Annabeth collapsed onto the sand.

Then, tears started flowing from her eyes. The smaller girl looked worried. She reached out a tiny hand and wiped away her tears and gave Annabeth a big hug. Then Annabeth broke out of her hug and stood up. She picked up the girl in her arms lovingly. Then she walked away from the beach and disappeared from sight just as Ethan burst into my room.

"Chaos. He wants to see all of us."

**********************

"A mission?" I asked. "Were are we going?"

"Earth." Chaos said. "But you'll have to stay hidden beneath your cloaks. And you may tell no one about your true self."

All the hope that had built up inside me suddenly blew away.

Our cloaks were hooded and only it's owner can take the hood off. They cover our face completely apart from our mouth. We wear them for missions we undertake in secrecy. But the thing was, I didn't want this mission to be held in secret.

"Lord Chaos-" I tried but he cut me off, apologetically.

"I'm sorry, Percy. But if we want this to go according to plan, you have to keep your identities a secret."

"You will leave in ten seconds." Chaos continued after a moment.

"Ten seconds?!" Luke cried in anguish. "How are we supposed to get ready in ten seconds?!"

"All the things you need are in your space ship." Chaos explained. "And I suggest you leave now."
