Chapter 7: Sorting Hat~Percy

If you look at the picture above, you'll notice it's a picture of all the founders of Hogwarts. I think Salazar is hot and Helga is beautiful. I could hardly care for Godric and Rowena. Don't forget to notice the horcroxes.

The train slowed down and finally stopped. People pushed their way toward the door and out on to a tiny, dark platform. I noticed Harry shiver due to the cold night air. Then a lamp came bobbing over the heads of the students, and I heard an unfamiliar voice:

"Firs' years! Firs' years over here! All right there, Harry?"

A giant man's big furry face beamed over the sea of heads.

"C'mon, follow me-any more firs' years? Mind yer step, now! Firs' years follow me!"

"Who's that?" I asked Harry. He smiled and responded over the clamour that his name was Hagrid. I nodded

Slipping and stumbling, they followed Hagrid down what seemed to be a steep, narrow path. It was so dark on either side of them that I thought there must be thick trees there. Nobody spoke much. Neville, the boy who kept losing his toad, sniffed once or twice.

"Yeh'll get yer firs' sight o' Hogwarts in a sec," Hagrid called over his shoulder, "jus' round this bend here."

There was a loud "Oooooh!"

The narrow path had opened suddenly onto the edge of a great black lake. Perched atop a high mountain on the other side, its windows sparkling in the starry sky, was a vast castle with many turrets and towers.

"No more'n four to a boat!" Hagrid called, pointing to a fleet of little boats sitting in the water by a shore. Harry, Ron and I were followed into our boat by Neville and Hermione.

Then we realized we had five instead of four. I was the first to offer my seat to Hermione.

"Hermione, you can take my place." I offered.

"Where will you go? I don't see many other boats besides Malfoy's." Hermione reasoned.

"I'll swim." I announced a bit to loudly. People turned and stared at me due to the strange solution. People definitely did not think I was normal, not even by wizard standards.

"I'm not kidding." I said seriously.

"It's okay, Percy. There are three girls over there I can sit with." Hermione said pointing to a boat with a set of twins and another girl. She walked towards them and sat in their boat. You could see them chatting from here.

"Everyone in?" shouted Hagrid, who had a boat to himself. "Right then-FORWARD!"

And the fleet of little boats moved off all at once, gliding across the lake, which was as smooth as glass. Everyone was silent, staring up at the great castle overhead. It towered over them as they sailed nearer and nearer to the cliff on which it stood.

"Heads down!" yelled Hagrid as the first boats reached the cliff; they all bent their heads and the little boats carried them through a curtain of ivy that hid a wide opening in the cliff face. They were carried along a dark tunnel, which seemed to be taking them right underneath the castle, until they reached a kind of underground harbor, where they clambered out onto rocks and pebbles.

"Oy, you there! Is this your toad?" Said Hagrid, who was checking the boats as people climbed out of them.

"Trevor!" Cried Neville blissfully, holding out his hands. Then they clambered up a passageway in the rock after Hagrid's lamp, coming out at last onto smooth, dampy grass right in the shadow of the castle.

They walked up a flight of stone steps and crowded around the huge, oak front door.

"Everyone here? You there, still got yer toad?"

Hagrid raised a gigantic fist and knocked three times on the castle door.

Everything happened in a fast-paced loud blur that I could barely remember. My ADHD mind seemed unable to cope with it all so it gave me the simplified version. We were escorted inside, met Professor Mcgonagall, taught what the four houses were, met ghosts and hats can talk and sing. Strange is an understatement.

They started sorting and I was happy to learn Hermione got Gryffindor and she looked happy. Then my name was called.

"Jackson, Percy!" I went into automatic mode.

"Here!" I shouted by accident. Stupid class attendance reflex. "Sorry." I muttered sheepishly while the banquet hall filled with laughter.

I walked up there mustering as much courage as I had and sat on the stool. I was scared out of my wits. I didn't want to be a Slytherin, but I wasn't sure if I belonged in Gryffindor or not.

"This is certainly uncommon." Said a tiny voice in his head. "A demigod. That means you have plenty of courage and potential." The hat seemed lost in thought and in that time I realized everyone's eyes were trained on me.

"Before I sort you be warned, you have many conflicts that you must face and you must one day make a great sacrifice for the sake of the world. GRYFFINDOR!" Shouted the hat. I released the breath I hadn't realized I was holding and went to my table and sat next to Hermione.

There weren't many people left now.

"Moon"...,"Nott"...,"Parkinson"..., then a pair of twin girls, "Patil" and "Patil"...,then "Perks, Sally-Anne"..., and then, at last-

"Potter, Harry!"

As Harry stepped forward, whispers suddenly broke out like little hissing fires all over the hall. I honestly felt bad for Harry. I could tell he didn't like all this attention.

What unnerved me more was the fact that Harry was up there longer then I was and I could tell he was getting nervous.

"...better be GRYFFINDOR!"

Harry looked relieved and happy as he walked to over to where I sat. He smiled and sat. More names were announced and I only payed attention once Ron was up there. He was pale green by now and then a second later the hat shouted, "GRYFFINDOR!"

The headmaster of the school, Dumbledore, said a few random words and the feast started. I ate my heart out while the others talked about lineages and blood.

"What about you Percy?" Asked the boy named Seamus.

"What?" Said me and one of Ron's older brothers.

"Sorry, I meant Percy Jackson." Ron's brother, who I assume is also named Percy nodded and went back to whatever he was doing.

"What?" I asked once more.

"How do you have magic?" Seamus asked once more.

"I'm a regular American muggleborn ." I stated simply, but that was far from the truth. He nodded and we went back to eating dessert.

The rest of the night was a blur of a warning I couldn't remembered, a song I won't forget and a poltergeist I had to be carful around.

At last I went to bed, stuffed and happy. That was until the dream.

I'm sorry I didn't update sooner. Cliffhanger guys. I'll really try to update Monday.
