Chapter 10: "Nice House"

"The Mikaelsons?" I clarified. Could she be related to my mom?

The girl raised an eyebrow, "So you have heard of us?"

I shrugged, "Sort of. I don't know anything about original vampires or anything, but my mom's name is Hope Mikaelson. Are you related to her?"

The girl's eyes widened in disbelief, "Oh my gods! Luke?!"

I nodded, "Yeah."

The next thing I knew, I was being suffocated in an extremely tight hug. Suddenly, Skylar cut in, "Uh, guys, I'm still here."

The girl pulled away and said, "It's so good to see you. How have you been?"

"I'm sorry," I confessed, "but who are you? Like I said, I know jack shit."

"Right," the girl said, "I'm your mother's aunt, Rebekah Mikaelson."

"So that would make you my great-aunt?"

Rebekah nodded, "Yes, but that makes me feel old. Just refer to me as your aunt, or Rebekah, if you want."

"Look, I'm sorry to ruin this beautiful moment," Skylar said, "but we only found you because of this map Chiron gave us for our quest. Do you know why?"

Rebekah nodded, "I have an idea, but we shouldn't talk here. Let's go somewhere more private?"

"Private?" I asked, "What's more private than this?"

I gestured to the completely empty part of Philly that we were in. My aunt explained, "For Supernaturals, this is just as exposed as the middle of Times Square on New Year's Eve. We have to go somewhere protected by magic in order for us to truly be private. Come on; we'll go to my place."

She led us down to the bay, to this old abandoned factory. But once we were about fifty or so feet away, the factory turned into this really nice modern mansion.

"This house is protected by various spells, as well as the Mist," my aunt said. "We'll be free from eavesdroppers here."

I'm not gonna lie, this house was easily the nicest house I've ever seen. And I live in Manhattan. It was probably worth at least a $100 mil or something, but don't take my word for it.

As we reached the front steps, I noticed that the house didn't have a traditional lock on its front door like most houses. Instead, there was a digital keypad and a strange-looking hole next to it. My aunt typed a code into the keypad before the hole opened up, and some sensor popped out of it. She pressed her thumb onto it and then said a phrase in a language I'd never heard before.

The screen on the keypad displayed a text that read ACCESS GRANTED, and the door opened. "After you," my aunt said.

The interior of the house looked just as good as you would expect it to look. You could tell it was made with the nicest things money could buy, yet it had a rustic feel to it like it was a mix of different centuries of architecture.

The moment my aunt closed the door, it automatically locked, she said, "Tell me everything. From the moment you found out what you were."

"You have anywhere to sit?" I asked. "This may take a while."

Time Skip

"...and after Argus dropped us off, we followed the map to Old City, where we saw you," I finished.

Shit, that took a long time, I thought.

"Well," Rebekah said, "it's good that you know who you really are. You should know it took a lot out of your parents to watch you grow up without them. But they kept tabs on you, and made sure that you didn't get yourself into too much trouble. You know that time when you almost got kicked out of elementary school for 'being too troublesome?'"

I nodded, "Yeah, but they didn't because my grandma got a doctor's note defending me because I have severe ADHD."

My aunt shook her head, "They were going to expel you either way, but your parents sent me to compel your principal into letting you stay. Your parents have been protecting you ever since you were born; you just never knew."

I didn't know what to say. I mean, I know now that my parents didn't want to abandon me, but they had no choice. Yet, I never knew that they still tried to help me.

Suddenly, I heard someone come down the stairs and into the living room, where we were sitting. A tall man with dark skin, shaven hair, and a very well-kept beard walked in. Looking at us and then at Rebekah, he said, "Rebekah, who are these demigods? Why are they in our home?"

"Is it really that obvious that we're demigods?" I asked.

The man nodded, "Yep."

Rebekah stood up and introduced us, "Marcel, this is Luke and his friend Skylar. Kids, this is my husband, Marcel Gerard."

Marcel, my uncle I'm assuming, reluctantly waved at us, "Hey, guys. Rebekah, can I talk to you for a second."

Rebekah facepalmed, "Marcel, this is Luke. Hope and Percy's Luke."

Marcel's eyes widened, "Oh, shit! My apologies."

"They're here on a quest to repair Supernatural relations with Olympus," Rebekah explained. "Apparently, a map Chiron gave them led them straight to me."

Marcel nodded. Turning to me, he asked, "So, Luke, how long have you been at Camp Half-Blood? Your parents never told us that you'd arrived."

I shrugged, "A week or two. So, do I call you Gramps or something?"

Marcel looked like he almost had a heart attack. "What?! A week? They let you go on a quest as important as this one with only a week of training?"

I nodded, "My dad didn't like it either. He almost went toe to toe with Zeus over it."

Marcel chuckled, "That sounds like Percy alright."

"You didn't answer my question," I said. "Do I refer to you as Gramps?"

Rebekah suddenly burst out laughing, and Marcel's face turned extremely red. He quickly said, "N-no. I'm old enough to be, but no. I'm your Uncle. You're mom's adoptive brother."

"Wait." My mind was putting together something. "You're married to Rebekah, who's my mom's au----"

"Yeah," Marcel cut in. "But we're not related in the slightest. I'm adopted. Also, we're vampires. Shit gets really complicated if you really think about this stuff. Look at demigods. They date each other even though they're technically related. Just don't worry too much about it."

"Okay," I said skeptically.

Changing the subject, Marcel said, "You two can stay here while you guys are in town."

Rebekah nodded, adding, "You and Skylar should go get yourselves cleaned up and comfortable. I'll take you to see the heads of the werewolves and witches here in Philadelphia tomorrow."

"What about the vampires?" I asked.

"It's us. Marcel and I are the heads of the vampires, and you have our support," Rebekah stated.

"Oh," was all I said. I mean, what could I say? It makes sense that Rebekah is a leader. After all, she is one of the "Originals."

"Come with me. I'll take you guys to your rooms," Marcel said.

Skylar and I followed Marcel up to two of the guest rooms. Skylar claimed the first one, and I the second.

"I'll leave you to it," Marcel said, closing the door.

Looking at the bed in front of me, I realized how tired I was. Fighting a monster really took a lot out of me.

'Might as well nap now, I thought. Tomorrow's gonna be a busy day.

With that, I dropped my bag on the floor and passed out on the bed.

AN: Hey, guys, I'm sorry for the delay. I know I haven't been the best lately with updating regularly, and I am working on that. I will try my best to meet my promise of a new chapter every month, but sometimes that may not be the case as my life has gotten very, very busy recently. If I am not able to meet the monthly update, I will definitely try to have the next chapter done in two months. Again, I am extremely sorry for not being more regular with my updates. There will be a lot happening now that Luke's quest has officially begun, and I can't wait for you guys to read the rest.

See you next month (hopefully),
