Slender man

We all looked between each other, sitting in the Poseidon cabin, my cabin. My name is Perseus Jackson, but I prefer Percy. This is a demigod camp, full of people with crazy battle senses and bad back stories.

"What should we do?" Leo asked lazily, laying upside down, legs against the wall.

"Percy, search up something we can do. We all know you got a phone." Thalia groaned, sitting up, looking at me pointedly. I chuckled nervously as the others laughed at me, but I pulled out my phone, searching up fun things to do.

"What's the first result, seaweed brain?" Annabeth asked me, looking at the screen. "Who's Slenderman? Why you trying to scroll past it?" Annabeth asked, snatching my phone.

"No, anything but Slender man!" I said, taking my phone back.

"What's Slender man?" Jason asked me, looking at me curiously.

"How have you not heard of him?" Nico asked, snatching my phone from Annabeth, probably to get an image. Once he did, he showed everybody. "It's a faceless monster, takes away children." Nico said incredulously.

"I don't believe it, sounds like every fake story!" Leo said, flipping off of the wall, taking the phone. Are they playing toss with my phone or something?

"I've had kids at my old school do it and disappear within a week!" I said, looking at them carefully. "And the ones who weren't taken, they were crazy! Their eyes were always bloodshot, always said that he was faceless! Let's just find something else." I insisted worriedly, and the ones who didn't believe me laugh.

"Oh come on, we survived two wars, fought multiple monsters, and some of us have been to the pit, I think a faceless man will have no effect on us." Annabeth challenged, and I wanted to run, I wanted no part in it, but most of them wanted to, I couldn't wuss out.

"Guys, kids were taken, this isn't the best idea." Hazel agreed with me, she could see how clearly I didn't want to do this. I'm glad she agreed with me, I wasn't sure who else did, Nico did, so did Will and Frank, but the rest wanted to do it.

"Most of those reports are probably fake." Piper said, raising her eyebrow. "Leo, gimme your computer." She said, and Leo complied, and Piper did her quick research session. "They're probably all runaways." Piper said, handing me the computer. I typed what I wanted to quickly.

"Here are multiple sightings and drawings of him!" I argued. An idea came to my head, and I frowned, but they wouldn't listen to me unless I prove it! "Look, I'll prove it, I will summon Slender man, and you guys can see what happens." I said, crossing my arms.

"Nothing will happen." Jason said, crossing his arms. The ones who believed me or heard of the stories before looked at me in absolute shock.

"If you summon him, there's no getting rid of him unless he either kills you, or drives you mad! Nobody should do it!" Nico argued fearfully. It was strange seeing Nico like this, so afraid and paranoid.

"Percy, maybe if Nico's so worried," Hazel trailed off.

"I'll summon him if everybody else swears on Styx not to summon him." I crossed my arms, and the ones who didn't believe me were quick to challenge me, swearing on Styx. I made sure to listen closely to make sure they actually swore, and I made the ones who knew the myths were true swear on Styx to.

"Do you even know how to summon him?" Frank asked worriedly, and I nodded.

"Yeah, when I was younger, I had some people try to make me do it with them, of course I left." I said, searching up the link. Fear grasped at me, I shouldn't be doing this, I know I shouldn't, it was stupid and dangerous, but that's my life. I grabbed my headphones and plugged them in.

"You sure you want to do this?" Annabeth asked, sounding slightly worried, and I smiled, rubbing my neck.

"Nope, but I'll survive, if I could survive Tartarus, Slender man will be the one scared of me." I joked, starting the video. I read the instructions, and then paid close attention, I didn't care that the rest were staring at me intently. When I heard the first chime, I closed my eyes.

When I finished, I took my headphones out. It was to late now, I was now open for Slender man to take into his realm. I closed the computer casually, pretending I wasn't worried, and handed it to Leo, trying to hide my shakiness.

"Nothing happened." Thalia said, looking at me with a raised eyebrow.

"You guys won't be able to see him. Usually, it doesn't start right away, it might be a week, it might be a day or two." I shrugged, tapping my leg anxiously.

"Why do you know so much about Slender man?" Hazel asked curiously, and I shrugged, rubbing my neck.

"As I said, previous classmates got themselves taken, I was close to some of them, two killed themselves because of it, they kept seeing him. I looked through their rooms, they had drawings, missing reports, videos, books, they were all paranoid. One of them went to the mental asylum, I think they killed themselves to. The other four were taken." I said, thinking back. Those were bad days.

"Then why did you just summon him if you know he's real?!" Jason asked incredulously, he now believed me. I shrugged harmlessly.

"I go crazy far to prove a point." I chuckled. "Besides, you all swore an oath not to summon him if I did." I shrugged, and they all looked at me in shock.

"You are a dead man." Will gulped nervously, and the room was silent. I could hear the sound of the woods from here, but I refused to acknowledge it, I won't listen to the calls or anything.

"I won't believe it until something happens." Leo crosses his arms stubbornly.

"And that's what I'm trying to prove, I know he's real. Remember, we all used to think the same thing about Greek and Roman mythology." I insisted, and they all nodded, except Jason, who grew up with the Romans.

"I'm curious," Piper started, "aren't you scared?" She asked me curiously, and they all looked at me, expecting an answer. I knew lying was pointless, I wasn't going to say I'm not because I was the last one who wanted to do the challenge.

"Petrified." I admitted nervously. "But, I mean it could be worse, as Annabeth said, I went through two wars, Tartarus, betrayal, and grew up fighting monsters since I was twelve, and-" I started to say, but stopped in my tracks, realizing what I was about to admit to. "And all of my previous friends deaths." I chuckled, quickly changing my words and hoping they wouldn't notice.

"You were about to say something else?" Annabeth asked curiously, and I shrugged. Of course she noticed, she's to smart not to, so is everyone else in this room.

"What were you going to say?" Thalia asked me, walking up to me.

"Nothing, just lost track of my words." I chuckled, rubbing my neck." No one seemed to believe me, they're raised eyebrows was enough to prove it, but they didn't press.

"Okay, I'm to cramped up in here, let's go for a walk." Leo insisted, standing up and stretching. Everybody nodded, and we all walked out quickly. I was scared though, how long will it take? Will he show up right away?

Small time skip

It's been four days, nothing much has happened, I haven't seen it or had any strange visions, but I've had nightmares, of the video, of kids getting taken. I haven't had the gut to tell them, that Slender man has taken over my dreams, since the first night, at first, it was just the forest at night with Slender man popping up, then it was him grabbing people, and then kids running and screaming, and now, it was him chasing me, in the middle of the forest.

I sat at breakfast, thinking about the dreams, trying not to worry, that's what most of my friends have been saying, they still don't believe it, but nothing has happened yet. Speaking of friends, they were all quick to join me when they noticed how distracted I was.

"Percy? Are you alright?" Annabeth asked worriedly, grabbing my hand. "Is it still about the Slender man thing? Nothing's gonna happened it's been four days." She reassured, and I shook my head.

"As I said, it doesn't happen right away." I insisted, trying not to look into the forest. That's where he resides, and I've been avoiding it like the plague. I know he can go else where, in towns, in buildings, I'm just worried.

"Well has anything happened yet?" Leo asked me curiously, and my silence was enough to worry them.

"Percy?" Nico asked worriedly, and I shrugged.

"Nightmares, since the first night." I said quietly, refusing to make eye contact. "They get worse each night. First, it was just him in the forest, then kids getting taken, then screaming kids, and last night, he was chasing me." I said worriedly, sparing a glance at the trees, I saw nothing, which relieved me more than anything.

"You shouldn't have done it, never go far in proving a point." Hazel said worriedly, noticing my glance towards the tree line.

"You all made an oath not to do it, and that's what matters, we all know Leo would have done it." I laughed and Leo blushed, but nodded.

"Probably." He laughed and the others did to.

"And that's my point, he won't go after you guys, only me since I summoned him, I watched the video and you guys didn't." I said, and they all shared a glance with each other.

"Is there a way to get rid of Slender man?" Annabeth asked, looking at me worriedly. She's afraid of losing me, and she regrets challenging me.

"There's a myth that if you sacrifice the thing you love most, but it's fake, it doesn't work. So no, there's nothing." I gulped. I've read the reports of survivors, and friends of ones who died, and people who tried it to get rid of him.

"How do you know?" Piper asked.

"People who tried it and posted their results, they all got taken after." I said, looking at the tree line again, and froze.

"Percy?" Annabeth asked worriedly, but her voice didn't register in my mind. In the tree line, reaching the height of about 7 foot from this distance, a black body suit, and a white, empty face, in all his glory, Slender man.

"Percy! Snap out of it!" Annabeth whisper yelled, shaking me, but I couldn't move, my eyes stayed on him, but he didn't move.

"I see him." I whispered, still unable to move.

"What did he say?" Nico asked.

"He sees Slender man, he can see him." Leo said in absolute shock. Finally, I was able to advert my eyes, just for a split second, looking at my friends, but when I turned back, he was gone. I looked all around me, he was gone! Nowhere in sight!

"Are you okay?" Thalia asked worriedly. I rubbed my face, once again looking at the tree line where I saw him, but looked back at Thalia, nodding.

"Yeah." I gulped, keeping my eyes away from the trees.

"Percy, we should go get Chiron, see if he can find a way to stop this." Annabeth insisted. I convinced them all to avoid telling anyone else in case they think I'm crazy, but the entire camp just witnessed what just happened. How long was I staring?

"Slender man can not be stopped." I said slowly, "Wisegirl, it's okay." I smiled softly, but she didn't relax.

"Chiron should know anyways." Annabeth said, dragging me to the big house, and the others followed. Annabeth walked into the big house, without knocking. "Chiron?" She asked.

"Hello, how may I help you?" Chiron asked curiously, trotting up to us.

"Percy summoned Slender man and just saw him for the first time!" Jason said, sounding like he was tattling more than telling. Chiron didn't seem to mind though, he just looked at me in absolute shock.

"You've got to be the stupidest person in existence, Perry Johnson." Mr D scoffed, sipping on his Diet Coke. I mocked him quietly, while his back was turned of corse.

"Yes, I know, I had to prove a point that he was real." I crossed my armed stubbornly, which caused Chiron to rub his face.

"Why would you have to prove a point?" Chiron asked.

"Well, we were all bored, so we searched up what to do when bored, and Slender man came up, and most of us wanted to do it because we didn't think he existed except for some, and Percy made us all swear on Styx that if he did it, we never would." Annabeth explained, looking at me sadly.

"And I would make that decision a billion times over, I would rather just me than all of us." I stated calmly. The room stayed silent for a few minutes, everyone just sharing looks.

"Is there any way to stop it?" Hazel asked quietly.

"No, my dear, it's a supernatural being, the gods can't do anything to control it." Chiron said sadly, looking at me like I was a dead man. "Perseus, my boy, don't look at its face, or what's supposed to be it's face anyways. It will drive you to insanity almost instantly." Chiron instructed and I nodded.

"I know the stories better than anyone here, sir." I said and he frowned deeply.

"How so?" Dionysus asked, not in curiosity, he sounded more sarcastic.

"I've had old friends lose their lives to it, and others who lost their minds." I glared slightly, and both Chiron and Dionysus looked at me in shock. "New York kids are kind of stupid sometimes, especially at the school I was attending that year. Doing dangerous stuff was considered cool." I growled angrily, slightly retreating to my thoughts, Bloody Mary, whatever the Charlie one was, the kings throne, whatever horror game they could find.

"And I take it that means you were the cool one." Dionysus scoffed.

"The opposite, I was the kid that hid in the back, every single school, actually. I didn't have much friends." I scoffed. I was only half invested in the conversation, I was saying stuff I usually wouldn't say, but I was still scared of seeing Slender, and of the dreams.

"That's quite surprising." Leo joked, laughing slightly, which dragged me out of the dark parts of my mind, and I mustered a small smile.

"I was, uh, what's the word? A depressing kid." I chuckled nervously. "It was a rough couple years before that." I chuckled, and they were all waiting for an explanation. "My previous step father was shit to me and my mom." I shrugged, Leo doing a double take when he heard me swear.

"How do you mean?" Annabeth asked curiously, also looked worried, she thought I had it good growing up, and I'm about to change her mind.

"He was very abusive, verbally and physically. No, I'm not going to say what he did, it's in the past and I'd prefer to keep it that way." I said, avoiding retreating into my mind. Once again it was silent, until Chiron decided to speak up.

"Perseus, if you, er, get taken, there is no going to the underworld. If he takes you, you go to a different realm, none of the previous people that were taken went to the underworld." Chiron said and I nodded grimly.

"I understand. There is a possibility that I survive, a slim one, but a chance at least." I chuckled softly, rubbing my neck.

"And if you do survive, you won't be sane." Frank said pointedly, and I nodded.

"I manage to do the impossible, hoping in the end, I stay alive and sane." I sighed, shifting my weight anxiously. I felt like I was being watched, but I refused to look at the tree line again.

"You alright Johnson? You look anxious?" Dionysus asked, raising an eyebrow at me. He didn't care, he was just confused and putting the fact out there.

"Yeah, uh, I'm good." I said, until the urge to look back at the tree line was so strong, I looked out the window. I was glad I couldn't see him, I won't look, I won't worry my friends, although they already were worried. I should have just pretended to summon him. "Well, I think that's all we came here for." I mumbled nervously, looking out the window once more.

"So your positive that there is no way to get rid of him?" Annabeth asked again, and Chiron only shook his head grimly. She was the first one to walk out of the big house, probably upset. All the others followed her, but the look Chiron gave me told me to stay.

"So you did all this to prove a point?" Chiron clarified and I shook my head.

"I did it so none of them would. I knew how dangerous it would be, and if I let them do it when I knew it would get them killed, I would be a sorry excuse for a friend." I claimed, and that's when Dionysus finally stood up, looking at me.

"Perseus Jackson," he started, giving me a dark look, "you make sure that nobody else gets hurt from your stupidity." Mr D growled angrily, and my vision turned red.

"My stupidity! I did this to keep my friends safe! Nobody else from camp will get hurt! He only wants me! And I guess you want that more than anybody! For me gone! Yeah, I get it, I'm a pain in your ass, trust me I know! Mr D, you should know Slender man only goes after the ones who summoned him, so don't you fucking worry!" I shouted angrily, storming out and walking to my cabin.

"Percy! Are you okay?" Will asked me. He and Nico were waiting right by the door for me, probably hear what I said, I was shouting pretty loudly.

"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" I smiled, rubbing my neck.

"A supernatural being is trying to kill you, Dionysus called you stupid, and of course, your paranoid." Nico said, cross his arms.

"Dionysus is not the first person to call me stupid, I'm used to that. And I was the one that summoned Slender man, I deal with what happens afterwards." I said surely. I was ready to break something, anger swelled in my head, but I refused to act on it, I will not hurt anyone.

"You should have help, you shouldn't have to do this alone." Will said, putting an arm on my shoulder, and I shook my head.

"I'm not, you guys are all doing your best to help. Fates got me good this time." I chuckled, looking at the sky. "Of course they made us stumble upon the Slender man challenge. They knew what would happen." Nico and Will have yet to speak up. "Personal loyalty sucks." I huffed, looking at the other two.

"Perce!" Jason shouted, jogging towards us. I looked at him curiously. "Annabeth needs you, she's devastated right now, we don't know how to help her." He said worriedly, and I ran to wherever Jason came from before, which was the beach.

"Annabeth!" I called out, my eyes landing on her, so I ran and slid on the sand, hugging her tightly. Her body racked with sobs and her tears stained my shirt but I didn't care. "It's going to be okay." I soothed, rocking her back and forth, squeezing her tighter.

"I can't lose you, seaweed brain." She cried out. The others have left to give us our space.

"I know, wisegirl. That's exactly why I did this though, because I wouldn't be able to lose you." I said gently. She shook her head, still crying.

"You could have just made us all swear on Styx not to do it anyways." She claimed, slightly becoming mad.

"Almost nobody would have listened, I understand that I am stupid, especially for going through with this, but keeping you guys safe matters more to me than anything else." I said, and she stayed silent.

"We were supposed to grow old together." She whispered quietly, the tears slowly down.

"I know wisegirl, just promise me you will move on if I get taken." I whispered, looking into the forest, where I saw him.

"How could I ever move on? I love you, seaweed brain." She said, burying her face ever further into my shoulder. I would not react to Slender man, I could not.

"I love you to wisegirl, but you can't torment yourself if I don't get out of this alive. If you have to, erase me from your memory." I stated calmly. I don't want her to forget about me, but I want her to be happy.

We were silent for a while, until she decided to stand up, rubbing her face. "I'll see you later." She smiled, pecking me on the lips and walked away, leaving me to stare into the trees.

It looked like a spider, with many branch like things coming out of its back, making it stand at an even taller height. Slender man stayed like that, until he took a few steps forward, which caused me to stand up, walking backwards quickly.

"What are you doing?" Clarisse asked me with a raised eyebrow. I forgot she didn't know I summoned Slender man. By the time I adverted my eyes from Clarisse, it was gone. My eyes switched between Clarisse and where Slender man was previously standing. "I asked what you were doing, you look scared out of your wits." She scoffed.

"I summoned Slender man the other day." I said quickly, looking all around me to make sure he wasn't there.

"The Hades, Jackson! Why would you do that! Surely you heard of the stories!" She shouted at me.

"I did it so the others wouldn't! But I keep seeing him!" I said anxiously.

"Is it really how the drawings describe him?" She asked, and I nodded.

"Yes, very accurate." I gulped, walking away from the beach, Clarisse following.

"What else has happened?" She asked me curiously.

"Just nightmares, and I've seen him 3 times today." I said, continuing to walk. She clearly can't see I'm trying to avoid the conversation, or she just doesn't care.

"And what are you gonna do about it? You know you don't go to the underworld if you get taken." She said worriedly.

"Then I would have to kill myself before I get taken but obviously that's not an option." I huffed, until suddenly I got dizzy.

"Percy? Are you okay?" Clarisse asked, holding onto my shoulders.

And suddenly, Slender man was in front of me, I gasped, falling, but I kicked the ground and backed up as far as possible. "Stay away!" I shouted, trying to stand up, but my legs felt week, I couldn't stand.

Where is everybody? It's like they all vanished! Nobody could help me! Dread took over me, but I managed to stand up, and run. While I ran, I couldn't find anybody, and dark clouds were covering the sun, and not even the border stopped the clouds.

It was gone, I'm safe. I laid down on the grass, trying to calm my breathing, and I closed my eyes. It was peaceful for a few moments, until claw like fingers wrapped themselves around my face, and my eyes bolted open, and I screamed. I was dragged under the ground I couldn't breath, but I wasn't able to do anything as Slender man also grabbed my arms.

When I was released, I still couldn't see, I couldn't breath, but I wasn't underground, why can't I see? I kicked the ground, trying to feel around where I'm at, until I felt my face, where's my eyes? Or my nose! Feelings my face, I started clawing.

"Percy! Stop it!" Annabeth screamed, and I was suddenly able to see, and everybody stared at me in shock. I stood up so quickly I almost fell over again, but Thalia held me by my shoulders. "What happened?" Annabeth asked me, it was clear that whatever just happened scared her.

"I'm not sure, one moment I was talking to Clarisse, then the next, Slender man was standing in front of me. I crawled away, and ran, and everybody disappeared. When I thought he left, I laid on the ground. Suddenly, he dragged me underground." I slightly explained. "When he let go of me, I couldn't feel my facial features, I couldn't scream, I couldn't see or smell, and then I started clawing at my face." I explained and they all looked at me in shock.

Leo walked up to me, grabbed my eyes and put my hand right in front of my face, and the sight surprised me, blood was staining my hand, skin and flesh in my finger nails. "That's what happened. We should take you to the infirmary." Piper insisted and I nodded.

When I finally saw a mirror, I was surprised to see blood dripping. "Percy?" Will asked, and it drew my attention from the mirror, only for a second, when I looked back I saw it in the mirror, which caused me to jump, and then Slender man disappeared.

"Yeah?" I asked casually, quickly walking away from the mirror. Will lightly poured some lake water on my face, washing away the blood. He had a shocked expression, which worried me, and I decided to look in the mirror. Cuts weren't healing, I had long, deep scratch marks all over my face, almost like Slender man's claws. "Why didn't it heal?" I asked, walking away from the mirror.

"Was it Slender man who clawed your face or you?" Will asked me, splashing my face with some more water, but it didn't do anything

"I remember doing it, but it looks more like Slender man's claws." I gulped, tenderly tracing the cuts on my face.

Time skip again

It's been a week since I had the freaky incident where I clawed my face. They all think that I'm going to survive this, that Slender man gave up with me, but they don't understand. He still haunts my dreams, makes me hallucinate, and calls for me. Every night I resist the urge to listen to his call, to go into the forest.

I haven't told my mom, I haven't told Paul, or my dad, or much of anyone other than my friends. Camp thinks I'm crazy and paranoid, the scars on my face don't necessarily help.

"Perseus, may we talk?" Chiron asked me, trotting up to me. His voice surprised me, causing me to jump, until my eyes landed on him, and I smiled casually.

"Of course." I said, and we started walking towards the big house.

"This Slender man isn't going away, and I feel like something is going to happen sooner rather then lady. So I brought Sally and Poseidon here so you can tell them exactly what happened before you disappear." Chiron said, and fear over took me. They haven't seen me since about a month ago. They still think I'm alright.

"Actually?" I asked worriedly and he nodded, and opened the door to the big house, where my mom and dad were standing, slightly arguing? The two instantly stopped talking as soon as the door had shut, and they looked at me in shock.

"Percy?" My mom asked worriedly, walking up to me and trailed the scare on my face, which caused me to tense up slightly, the image of my bloody face coming to mind for a small moment.

"Yeah, mom. I guess I have some explaining to do." And I told them everything that's happened, and they went from confused, to angry, to worried, to upset and back to worried.

"Percy, you know that Slender man is the reason your brother passed." My mom said quietly, and both Poseidon and Chiron did a double take, looking at my mom and I in shock.

"He was adopted." I said, looking at my dad and Chiron, who nodded. "He was 12 when he and his friends did it, he was the first one to be taken, 5 days." I frowned.

"How did you guys know it was this Slender man?" My dad asked in confusion. I wasn't surprised he didn't know the legends.

"He had drawings, like many of the ones people drew after they saw him, he also admitted it to me, I was 6 at the time, I didn't really understand." I said, diving into my thoughts. "He also had a video, nobody was able to see Slender though unless they watched the video." I explained and my dad nodded.

"Have you drawn him? There's a movie of what happens, most had multiple drawings." My mom asked curiously, and I looked at my feet, nodding.

"It's like an urge so strong that it takes over, like my natural instincts get kicked back and a robot takes over my actions." I said briefly. "It's almost happened with me going to the woods for Slender man to take me. It's getting harder and harder each day." I said, looking at the roof, trying not to cry. The last week and a half had been dreadful, and I'm ready to surrender.

"Why has Slender man waited so long to take you?" My father asked me, and I shrugged, making eye contact, which surprised him for some reason.

"Probably because I'm older than most of his usual victims. If it were Nico, he would've gotten taken quicker, but I'm 18 almost 19." I explained and he nodded.

"Perseus, your phone is ringing." Chiron said, not sounding impressed that I had a phone. I grabbed my phone, and it was from unknown.

"I don't know who it is?" I said questionably, picking it up, dropping the phone right away, and looked around hysterically. "Run." I gulped, and they didn't hesitate, they thought I was following them.

I stayed still where I stood, I couldn't bring myself to look behind me until the silence grew to loud, and I slowly turned my head. It's face, was gone! My mouth stayed close, and I brought riptide out of my pocket. Staring closing at Slender man, I could see screaming children, and I stabbed him, but he still stared at me, it did nothing.

"Percy!" I heard Annabeth scream as Slender man grabbed me by my throat and pick me up, and started dragging me towards the words. I screamed bloody murder as I punched and kicked, until I pointed riptide at me, smirking at Slender man, and stabbed my heard, and I was dropped, and my world went black.
