My 24th Birthday and Surprise
HEY GUYS! THANKS FOR READING! AND COMMENTING AND VOTING AND... YOU GET THE POINT. THIS IS JUST A LITTLE ADDITION, SO ENJOY!!
I woke up and smelled cooking- not burning or a fire alarm or anything. I smelled buttered pancakes. I rolled out of bed and walked down the stairs wearing flannel pants and one of Percy's tee shirts. "Percy? Is your mom here or somethi-" I couldn't finish my sentence because there, in the kitchen stood Percy, happily flipping pancakes. On the table, there was a meal fit for kings. There were sausages, french toast, bagels, muffins, coffee, toast, eggs, cinnamon rolls, sticky buns, and four or five pancakes. "Uh, hey, Perce. What's the big brea-" "HAPPY TWENTY FOURTH BIRTHDAY WISE GIRL!" Oh my gods, I had forgotten my own birthday, yet my Seaweed Brain remembered? "You really outdid yourself, Seaweed Brain. I can't believe you made all this..." "I know!" "You sure your mom didn't even help?" "um, n- Well, she made the muffins. And the sausages. And the muffins. And the eggs. And... well, let's just say I am making pancakes and coffee. My mom did the rest." I couldn't believe Sally had put so much effort into my birthday breakfast! "What do you wanna do today, Wise girl?" Percy asked as he turned off the stove and sat down across from me. I immediately knew- "Metropolitan." I simply said. Amazingly, Percy didn't groan, or make a face, or anything, He just said, "Okay. You owe me big time." "But- it's my birthday!" I glanced down at my hand, with my two beautiful rings- my engagement ring was a pretty ring with sapphires all over it, My wedding ring was a simple silver band, with 11 little diamonds on it. Percy's ring was just a gold band, but I thought it was gorgeous.
Twenty minutes later, Percy and I were driving to the city. As we passed Camp, I made a vow to myself that we'd visit this week. I was sitting in the passenger seat when my phone buzzed. I saw that my dad was calling. "Percy, I gitta take this. My dad." I answered the phone, and heard my dad on th other end. "Hello, dear! I haven't talked to you in so long! Happy 24th birthday. I can't believe that it's already July 12th! Oh, by the way, your mother and I are visiting NYC in two weeks. Mind if we come see you guys?" "Oh, sure, Dad! How's SF? How are the boys?" "Oh, they're wonderful. Their birthday's coming up too, you know. Oh, and they found out which High schools they got into! They both got into Lowell, Urban, S-I, S-H, Marin Catholic, and International." "Awesome, Dad. I have to go- we're about to go through a tunnel. Love you!" "Love you too. Tell Percy I say hi!" "I will. Bye!" I hung up and told Percy about our conversation. "We should tell my mom. She adores them, ya know." It was true- Sally really liked my parents. The last time they came, Sally made a nine course dinner that they really liked. And that wasn't even Thanksgiving! I turned on the radio just as Hey Soul Sister came on. I watched Percy's intense green eyes as they eyed the road. The New York skyline still amazed me- it's VERY impressive. Finally we pulled up to the Metropolitan. "This is gonna be a long day. Can we please be home by four?" Percy said, and I knew he was hiding something, but I din't ask. "Sure. I'll try to keep track of time, okay Seaweed Brain?" We explored the museum, and Percy actually liked some of the stuff in the musuem. At least he said he did, but it might've just been part of a 'Make Annabeth Happy On her Birthday' act that I thought he was putting on. I knew this wasn't Percy's favorite place, and that it brought back memories, but I loved the place. It was a true piece of perfectness, if that's possible. Finally, by 3:30, Percy was getting agitated, so we decided to leave. "Satisfied?" He asked as he buckled his seatbelt. "Good enough." We pulled out of the parking lot and Percy turned on the radio to fill the silence. "Love you, Seaweed Brain. Thanks for putting up with this. I know- I know it's hard for you." "No prob." What I said that day, I really meant. He was such a trouper for putting up with me 24/7, but it's his doing that we're married, so it's his fault we're always together. But we were sorta inseperable before that too. But I will always love him, even when I die.
I walked downstairs wearing jeans and a nicer shirt since we were going to Sally and Paul's for dinner. I couldn't wait to see them, or their new dog, Posiedon. They'd just gotten him last week and I still hadn't met him. I saw Percy was wearing a button down blue shirt and jeans. We got our coats on and I watched silently as he grabbed two grocery bags. "What are those, Perce?" I asked curiously as he put them in the trunk. "Oh, just some dessert that I wanna bring. But it's a surprise, so no peeking!" He did some cute little puupy eyes that won me over. "Okay, fine, I won't look yet. Good? Deal?" I said, putiing my hand out for him to shake. "Deal, Wise Girl." And with that, we got in the car once again and drove to the city.
Okay, I know it's sort of a cliff hanger, but I might continue this one depending on how many comments and reads it gets. LOVE YOU GUYS! :) Hope you liked it! If I do continue, I'll still need some ideas, so if you have any, tell me!!
