A New Perspective

I'm just going to preface this chapter with a little clarification, because if I didn't... well, you guys would be extremely confused ;). I thought it would be interesting to try a new point of view at this point in the story, and as many of you guys have asked to see more of Sophia and Logan... well, here's your surprise :)

Sophia's POV

The sun streamed in, streaking its rays on my face as I awoke that Friday morning. The silhouette of Logan's toned body as he searched for a shirt was the only thing blocking the sun from my eyes, and to be honest, I liked my view much better.

"Good morning," I said, trying not to close my eyes. I didn't want a second of the day to slip away.

"Hey beautiful," Logan smiled, his brown hair messy as his chestnut colored eyes bore into mine. He leaned over the bed to kiss me.

"Do you really have to go today?" I asked, sitting up as Logan went back to packing. Logan's job had been really impressed with him lately, and now they were sending him to San Francisco to close some important deal. And as proud as I was of him and his success, I hated seeing him leave.

"I really have to go," He repeated my words back to me, his voice soft like morning light before it pierced through the windowpanes. But as the light does, harsh reality always seemed to set in eventually. It was almost December, so Logan and I had been married for two and a half years. I guess the 'honeymoon glow' had to wear off at some point.

"I'm just going to miss you so much." I took his hand, smiling the kind of smile you see on TV when the girl knows it's only right to let the love of her life go, but she can't bear it.

"About that... Jeremy, from work, he was supposed to be on the same flight to San Francisco... right next to me, actually, but, uh, he had to change his flight so he gave me his ticket to give to you. And I would be absolutely thrilled if you would come with me." Logan laughed as I jumped into his arms, his shirt far too big on me and flowing.

"Of course I'll come with you, Zombie," I smiled, remembering the day that name had first come about.

I was sixteen, learning to drive, with Logan by my side. And let's just say my early driving skills... well, it was a rough time. Long story short, I had to retake the stupid test three times. Turns out you can't assume the test is based on logical answers.

"Okay, Soph, now slowly back it out..." Logan said as soothingly as possible. I pressed the brake and he was immediately slammed back into his seat.

"Was that better?" I asked, admiring my handy work. I was in the road and out of that fake parallel parking space on the driveway.

"You're supposed to imagine the chalk lines are cars! You just ran over a car!" Logan laughed, rolling his window down to try and see how many hypothetical cars I damaged.

"Okay, so I need to work on it how much more?" I released my fingers from the wheel, allowing the white knuckles to receieve blood again.

"Until I stop feeling like I'm a dead man walking when I get out of your car," Logan chuckled, smiling that goofy grin he only smiled at me. And occaisonally himself in the mirror when he thought he looked really good.

"Okay then, Zombie," I said, raising my eyebrows. "Let's do this."

That day, I realized not only that parallel parking was just about as hard as getting a god apologize, but that I had the most perfect, irresistable, caring, funny boyfriend in the whole world. Flash forward about a decade... I guess I was right.

I found myself back in reality, in Logan's arms smilingly wildly. "Let me pack really fast"-which really meant give me 10 minutes, I'm a pro at this- "and we can head to the airport after that."

"I love it when you get all professional," Logan grinned, lacing his fingers around my waist. "But speaking of which, can you get time off from your job?"

Before I met Logan, I would have freaked out. Before I met Logan, I would have canceled on him. But living every day to the fullest is more important to me than a stupid assistant job at Eckermann Publishing. As Logan always says, your life is two numbers and a dash in the middle. Make the most of the dash.

I was planning on making more than the most out of my dash.

Coughing, I dialed the number on my phone. "Hi Miranda" - cough cough - " I'm so sorry, I'm really sick... Oh no, I gotta go! I'm gonna-"

She hung up before I could finished, making a disgusted grunt. "Looks like I'm off the hook," I laughed.

"Gods, I love you,"

We landed in San Francisco only hours later, but that silly, schoolgirl smile hadn't left my face. Honestly, did it ever leave my face when I was with Logan?

"I have a dinner later tonight, but until then... Well, I though we could redo that night from Junior Year..."

Ah yes. Junior Year. Stanford. Taking a paddle boat out after hours and hoping we didn't get caught. Eating pastries at Alta Plaza at midnight. Getting lost and ending up at USF. Catching a cab to the hottest club in town. Yeah, I recalled that night from Junior Year vividly.

"Let's do it," I said, feeling the challenge's adrenaline starting to kick in. "But I can't guarantee that we won't get caught on the paddle boats this time,"

"I can ask my dad to get us out of it," Logan said, taking my hand in his.

"My grandpa would do a better job," I laughed, waiting for Logan to recoil the way he used to when I said Poseidon beat Zeus in literally every category except maybe fashion sense. But he didn't. Instead, he just squeezed my hand, sending a pulse of electricity through me.

"I could always try my hand at saving damsels in distress," Logan said, turning to look at me. "But I know better than to try and save you- you'll probably end up getting us out of this one. Once again."

"Gladly," I giggled, leaning my head on his shoulder as the sun dipped lower in the sky.  Logan turned to face me, pressing his warm lips against mine. I could feel his heartbeat through his shirt, as though he still got nervous when he kissed me. But as I closed my eyes, allowing myself to sink into his arms, I knew it was something else completely. Confidence.

"You are definitely the best part of my dash, Sophia Abbott," And I couldn't help but blush, because he was the best part of mine too.

AUTHOR'S NOTE:

Hey guys! I can't believe it's already May! Anyway... I felt like changing up the scenery a little bit for Chapter 97 (I can't believe we only have three more left!!), so I hope you liked it! Sophia and Logan... well, I have such weird relationship with them. I mean, I love them almost as much as I love Percabeth! And though they're a lot like Percabeth, I could literally write a whole essay on how they're different. But they're both so, SO great.

Anyway, lots of surprises coming your way (I actually just planned a really good one that I'm super excited about) but some of them you may not actually see until the sequel.

I realized a really strange thing today, which I actually messaged all of you about... Sophia and Logan were born in 2019. SO... it's technically 2043 in this chapter. I'm not sure why that seems so weird to me, but it is. I mean, in 2043, I can't even imagine where I'll be. I mean, Percy and Annabeth are 50! Sophia's been married for two and a half years, and our baby twins are in college/army! GUYS. They're all grown up and I"m getting emotinal like they my own kids. I really need to talk to more people and create less characters.

School has been so crazy lately, and I'm stressing about finals and stuff that I haven't started studying for, so that's always fun. Are you guys last minute studiers or months in advance? I'm definitely in between, haha. Literally the only thing getting me through the day is seeing my friends at school and writing when I get home.

As a bunch of you know, I'm writing another series on the side that I've invested tons of time and effort into. It's ridiculous how many files I have on it, and yet how much I still have to figure out. But it's occupied my whiteboard for about six months now. And I was wondering... would you guys want me to post it on here? I still think it needs tons of work, but I love getting opinons on it and if I feel the need to update for you guys, it will definitely motivate me through writer's block. It's a completely different style of writing than most of what I do in this fanficiton, but I am pretty proud of it. I've edited my first chapter so many times already, and I keep telling myself to move on and edit later, but I don't know, it seems so... well, I don't really know. It always needs more, or sometimes it needs less. But I'd love to post it on here if you guys are interested!

Thanks so much for reading, by the way! I've gotten such sweet comments from you guys telling me that you totally understand when I am a slacker about updating. And I love reading your comments on my chapters! I try to respond to them all!

QUESTION OF THE CHAPTER:

Would you want me to post my other story on here?

XOXO
