Chapter 21

3rd POV

The next day Bonnie woke up from her nap on the ground with her head in her Ninetails' furry lap. The Pokemon woke up as well and Retribution healed them both as he had used his powers to keep watch over them both through the night, and Bonnie drew her Ninetails back into it's Poke-ball and brushed herself off as she stood. Then Bonnie made her way back to the road, to find Sean there, sleeping in a chair.

"Get up" Bonnie said as she kicked his chair making him jump in it and cause it to go more off balanced than it already was, and he fell sideways in it with a slight scream of surprise, and Bonnie chuckled a little in amusement as he got back up and brushed himself off as well, even though the road was cleaner than his pants looked at the moment. So if anything he was getting the road dirty.

"Let's go" Bonnie turned away from him and he stuffed his collapsible chair into his bag and rushed after her, and once he was caught up he looked at Retribution's ball and grew curious once again. An hour went by as they walked in silence and the front of the city was starting to come into view, Bonnie pointed at the gym excitedly and yelled "THERE IT IS" and Sean tried to reach for the white button of Retribution's colorful Poke-ball, but was stopped by a force field and Bonnie started to run at full speed towards the small city.

Sean brushed the strange feeling of the field as a part of his imagination, but the thought still lingered. What is she hiding something from me? Though he followed after her not too long after recovering from his lasting second shock.

Bonnie got into the gym entrance first and Retribution decided to tell her that Sean had reached for his Poke-ball.

Back there Sean had reached to touch my ball, and cause me to come out into the open Retribution said and Bonnie stopped moving towards the front in shock keep it down for now, but if he does anything worse than what his curiosity does to him then you can beat him in a volcano of rage okay.

Bonnie nodded silently, and moved to the front desk to tell the person at it that she was scheduled to have a battle today with the gym leader.

"He's expecting you" the lady at the desk said and Sean appeared just then at the door and Bonnie looked back at him with a slight glare of annoyance before heading inside to battle the old man. Bonnie wasn't surprised at what the man looked like, he looked exactly as other's had described him to be, though less hunched and old looking as Bonnie had first thought of him to be. He described the rules, and then Gogoat was brought out, just as Bonnie planned, and so she brought out Ninetails and the battle had begun.

Ninetails jumped to the side as Gogoat used Seed Bomb and Bonnie told her Ninetails to use Will-O-Wisp and the purple blast of fire hit Gogoat head on as it froze in place and the mountain Pokemon barely stood and it used Bulldose but Bonnie's Ninetails just jumped over the attack and used Fireblast, and the Gogoat fell to the ground with stars in it's mind and swirling eyes. Bonnie was declared the winner of the match and Ramos came up and gave her the badge after calling Gogoat back to it's ball and telling it that it did well.

Ninetails went over to Bonnie's side and waited there, and Ramos came over and pet its head after giving Bonnie her last badge, and they exchanged a few words and Bonnie turned to leave before being stopped as Ramos called out in warning to her.

"Beware the power you hold in your hands" he said and Bonnie nodded in thanks and walked out, passing Sean without a word, as Bonnie was still mad at him for trying to force a look at Retribution when he'd probably freak out and cause a commotion that she nor Retribution wanted to have towards them.

Bonnie left the Gym and then went into the forest so that she could let out all of her Pokemon, Retribution included, and they could all eat. Once she was about a mile deep into the forest, all of her Pokemon came out of their balls on their own and Retribution extended his powers into the surrounding forest, about the mile that they had went and then he came out as well. His powers still active and surveying the forest just in case he needed to push the button to go back into his ball quickly. Retribution used his powers once more to make the boxes of Poke-puffs appear in-front of everyone from where they floated around meaninglessly in the void.

"I'm starting to think that we should just ditch Sean and head for the city to fight in the tournament with no one near us as a distraction" Bonnie said looking at Retribution, and he shook his big, scaly head at her and she scowled "why not?"

If we don't stick around to the only person that has actually shown you some hospitality over all of the people and others your age that we've passed, then you would have no friends, and he was the only one to have come to you first. Plus he came from a different region, one that we've both heard about, but never seen.

"I thought that you saw the Alola region when you were--" she was cut off as Retribution growled in annoyance at the memory of all the havoc that he'd caused while blinded by that red light.

Oh I can't wait to follow through on my promise towards that---evil man once I find him again he said looking at the leaf-covered sky. Bonnie wanted to ask him what that meant, but by the way Retribution sounded she pushed the inquisition out from her mind. Retribution waited until all of the others had gotten to eat before he dug in himself, leaving a single blue Puke-puff left and using his powers to duplicate it until the boxes were full of them once again, and then he made the box disappear into the void once he felt that everyone was full and had enough energy to last the rest of the day. Bonnie redrew all of her Pokemon into their balls and Retribution touched the button of his own Poke-ball and was surrounded by red light before being sucked into it.

Bonnie turned back and ran to the road before sitting on a bench, waiting for Sean to come back out, since it appeared that he hadn't yet. After about ten or so minutes of sitting there thinking about which path Bonnie wanted to take to the city to get there the fastest, Sean had finally come out whooping with happiness.

"I got my last badge!" he yelled and then caught a glimpse of Bonnie glaring at him from where she got up to stand, leaning on the bench as he shied away from her gaze and blushed a little.

"I thought that you'd already had left, after your ignoring me and all" he said and Bonnie shrugged

"I am a little mad that you tried to force one of my Pokemon to come out against it's will, but I'm good now" she said and then turned away and headed towards the path down the road that was the fastest route to the city for the final tournament. Sean quickly caught up to walk next to her and Bonnie started to conversation before he could say anything about Retribution's Poke-ball.

"What is the Alola region like?" Bonnie asked and Sean smiled

"It's awesome, the moves that we have there are much different than mega evolution power here, as by my battle a couple weeks ago when I first came here" he said and Bonnie looked at him in surprise. A move more powerful than mega evolution power, that was something that she wanted to see. He then showed her his wrist opposite of the ones with the two mega evolution key-stones on them. The sleeve came down to the middle of his arm and it revealed two more bracelets. They were black with a hole in the middle of them that looked like a Z shape with one having a red diamond in the middle and the other having a icy blue diamond in the other. Bonnie assumed that it was for his two Ninetails since they matched their coloration and Bonnie couldn't think of anything else they could possibly be used for besides what you do with a mega-stone. Touch it, and the power of the stone connects to the Pokemon's stone and evolves it through trust and strength.

Bonnie thought back to when she first saw the two standing close together, and they both didn't have a mega-stone visibly on them, nor a bracelet like Sean had on, but they all could've been hidden Bonnie guessed, especially since Ninetails had a lot of fur, even the ice type one. Bonnie's thoughts were cut off as he explained that Z power was due to some sort of magic landline going throughout the entire planet, but the landlines in the Alola region were strongest and that those were why Z moves were so strong. Bonnie looked at her watch and saw that it was almost two in the afternoon and through Sean's talking they had only traveled three or so miles, and Bonnie broke into a slight run.

She needed to stay fit for her and her Pokemon, Sean saw her start running suddenly and he ran after her before appearing at her side and running with her, and by the time they got to the outskirts of the city, Sean was breathing heavily and Bonnie was breathing mildly, but not too hard, and she sighed as Sean gave her a hand to say 'one second' as he couldn't speak from where he stood with his hands on his knees.

"Come on, I'm not waiting for you" she said and started to walk off into the crowd gathering as it did daily on the walkways and paths to different markets and stores. The quicker they got to the front. The sooner they could sign in for the tournament and the happier Bonnie will feel about her strength and preparation. Sean raced after her as soon as he relinquished his needed amount of air and they both got to the stands before any line had even started, even after the announcement to sign up for the tournament in a couple days went through out the city, and get early discounted tickets.

"Name" said the bored clerk at the front of the desk as she wrote in the letters of a crossword puzzle on the magazine and Bonnie caught that there was one last word that she was puzzled over, as a dash with a question mark by it.

"Bonnie" was all she said and the clerk straightened and looked at her in awe as she recognized her from the paper that she was holding. It was a picture of her and saying that if anyone saw her, to call Clemont immediately, and the clerk was about to grab her phone when Bonnie ordered her to stop with a loud shout.

"NO! I don't want my brother to know where I am just yet" she said and the clerk nodded and got out the sign up papers, and grabbed a pen before putting in Bonnie's name and then she asked Bonnie a series of questions.

"Do you have all of your required--" Bonnie put her badge case on the counter, open and turned so that the lady could see, and she nodded and checked the box needed.

"Do you have all six of the required Pokemon for the tournament?" she looked up and Bonnie nodded "what are they?"

"I have Dedenne on my shoulder here, a Ninetails, a Tyrantrum, a Samurott, an Arcanine, and one that I cannot tell you about" Bonnie said and the clerk nodded for a second before freezing and looking up as she grew curious.

"Why not?" she asked

"Because it's one that doesn't like other's knowing about it's name unless he trusts them with it...like me" Bonnie said and the clerk nodded in understanding and wrote down the sixth Pokemon as (unknown). Then she asked Bonnie a few more questions and Sean got to come up to the front, and the same questions were asked and he said all his Pokemon's names, the fact that he had evolution stones, but didn't want to say which ones they were for, and that he also had Z moves from another region and then he was done.

Sean walked up to Bonnie as she started to head into the forest and touched her shoulder, and her response was grabbing his hand and arm, and flipping him over her back as she walked.

"Don't touch me" she said nonchalantly and he groaned and nodded from where he was on the ground, and Bonnie kept on walking as Sean got up and quickly jogged to her side.

"Is that the same Pokemon that you don't want to show me?" he said "the one that you wouldn't tell the name of to the clerk lady?"

"Yes, and I am going to feed my Pokemon and train with them for the next few days in the forest, so leave us alone and don't dare follow me, or the same Pokemon that remains a mystery to you will keep you from following" Sean scoffed, a Pokemon could keep a person from following if they were inside of their Poke-ball still, and yet it felt like Bonnie was telling to the truth to him, and she was as she slipped into the forest. Sean tried to follow, but something kept him from entering and after a half hour of trying to push his way through the invisible field that kept him from entering the forest. Sean left and went to a hotel in the city to chill for the next couple of days, he knew that he should be training as well, as Bonnie was in the forest without him to see what, or how she did it, but he had no doubt in his Pokemon, and their abilities in battle.

Bonnie went deep into the heart of the forest surrounding the city, and about three or so miles in Retribution came out of his ball and tossed her and Dedenne onto his back. Where they stay for the ride until he reached the center of the forest, where no one would dare go as far from the city as they were and landed. Letting Bonnie and Dedenne off of Retribution's back and Bonnie's other Pokemon came out and they all looked at Retribution expectantly.

I guess that look means that you have no idea how to train any more than you already have, right? they all nodded and Retribution sighed, and then he covered all of their feet in ice and told them to run with him, he had ice on his feet too, and it was at least a couple inches thicker than theirs, but Bonnie stood still for a second questioning why she was doing this, and an hour later she figured out why Retribution had them do that.

The ice made all of their feet numb as they ran, making them clumsier, and the extra weight wasn't something that they were used to, and even though Retribution was going on just fine, they were panting and slacking as they got back to the heart of the forest where they had been, going in a giant two-mile long circle, and once they were all stopped. Retribution made a wave of cold water cover them and they all yelped, or screamed in shock as the cold water awakened them entirely, and yet they felt relinquished and re-energized, but they were still shivering and cold from the freezing water that had covered them and soaked them from head to toe, even the big dragon dinosaur Pokemon Tyrantrum was tired out and soaked to it's core.

We can rest now for the night, I have soaked you to wash you of your sweat and clean you from the dirt grime and stink of sweat, but this is basically what we are going to be doing to the next, what? Four days? Retribution looked at Bonnie and she nodded in agreement and collapsed, her Pokemon were surrounded with red light and sucked into their Poke-balls and Retribution wrapped himself around Bonnie and Dedenne and warmed them up with the heat of his body, causing him to emit a slight purple glow, and the two fell asleep soon after with Retribution staying up to keep watch for a little while, and once he called the all clear. Retribution put up a glamour around the clearing that they were in and a force-field that teleported people through the area and out the other side to keep them walking.

The next day was the same thing, but they woke up, Retribution drenched them in cold cleansing water, they ate, ran, got a quick drink at the stream during the run, ate again, got back, collapsed into sleep, and again for the next three days onward. When it was finally the day of the tournament, Retribution blew warm water on everyone to wash them off and get them clean and ready for the day, and then they went back to the city. Retribution made the blocks disappear as soon as they stepped onto the city grounds, and Bonnie and the others sighed with gratitude and stretched their limbs, and then Bonnie called the others into their Poke-balls, and then retrieved Retribution's ball from where he had grabbed it and went back into the forest, and inside of it.

Then Bonnie put them all in their places on her belt and went to the front, and the person ushered her inside, just as the lines were starting to form to buy tickets and enter into the tournament. Bonnie noticed that she had built a little more muscle and she was brought to a lone cell and room and she surveyed the screen trying to catch sight of Ash, her brother, or Serena in the stands, even Alain, but he was always roaming the region so she didn't expect him to be there, and then she caught sight of her brother, sitting there in the stands with his yellow hair sticking up in his usual lightning bolt. Bonnie smiled, he was there, after all he was actually there waiting for her in the stands, and with the others. Bonnie had caught sight of Ash and Serena sitting next to each-other in the stands as well waiting along with Clemont.

The door closed suddenly and the screen cut off from the crowd to the announcer as he explained the rules of the tournament and the expectations of what they were to see, he told them that there were a couple with unknown talents and surprises ahead, there always was though and then the screen showed the matches and Bonnie saw that she was going against some kid named Clairvoyant, and it showed her main types, Ice. Against Bonnie's Fire types. In fact almost all of the people were pit against ones weaker of stronger than their Pokemon in the first round, probably as a motivation factor.

But Bonnie wasn't up first, actually Sean was up first against a kid with mainly fairy type Pokemon, as the match list said, and then a thin slit in the wall lit up and a paper came through. It was the tournament's first round of matches, and there were sixteen matches in total with three more brackets to go through till the final match. Bonnie had a strange feeling that she was, in the end, going to go up against Sean and it slightly annoyed her that she wouldn't get to see what he had been hiding until then, or what his stones were for: whether it was the mega evolution stones or the diamond shaped Z-ring power stones because the screen cut off as soon as the two were called out, and Bonnie went over to her bed and sat there waiting.

Ten minutes passed and the screen came on again labeling Sean as the winner and the brackets changed with him moving on into the second row with a blank space under him, and Bonnie realized that she was last, and he was first, and it seemed like a very suspicious coincidence. The screen cut off fourteen more times. Ten hours had gone by, with Bonnie stretching, feeding her other Pokemon, talking to Retribution, and playing one of the many games on the shelves of the far side of the room. Then the screen came on once more and Bonnie's room door opened and she stepped outside and looked up at another, bugger screen to see her opponent also appearing from their door. It was a girl of sixteen with black hair, black eyes, and lots of pale make-up covering her face, making her look like a white Haunter.

Bonnie turned and walked away from her to the front and arrived at the start where she went over to her side of the arena and the other girl appeared from her side of the bridge and they shook hands and exchanged "good luck's" before the stadium separated them and the arena floor appeared.

The announcer told what the arena specialized in and Bonnie's opponent brought out a Manectric, and Bonnie brought out Samurott. To say that Bonnie's opponent was surprised was an understatement; Bonnie knew that her Samurott was weak against electric types, but Bonnie knew that her Samurott was strong enough to resist them, and Samurott was used against electric types a lot during their training and it helped it build up a resistance better than what it would've had with pure will, will certainly helped, but being prepared was also something important for Bonnie and her Team.

"BEGIN" was all the announcer had to say before the two rushed to give orders to their Pokemon, and Bonnie wanted to end this fight quickly, and with caution, and that's exactly what she did as she told her Samurott what to do, it trusting her every word, and taking heed of her warnings.

Thanks for reading and if you have been waiting for me to update this story thanks for waiting patiently, and if you are new and have just started to read this story and just got to this chappie, then you're lucky. I am sorry for not having had updated in a long while, and I am using my time while I can to keep my writing mood up. As I've had a long nice couple weeks to cool off, rest a little, as I've needed, and write this long chapter. I made it long due to my time having been stretched on for 'years' and so I hope you'd enjoyed this one, and I'll try to have the next one out soon.
Not counting this A/N this chapter is 3754 words, and again thanks for reading and I will try to not do this again...not update for months/a while on this book--3910 words with the A/N.
