Annabeth's POV:

Summer was over and it was finally the first day of school. A mother's vacation. I was making the kids blue pancakes. Out of all the kids, I was the most worried about Zoe.

She was gonna be in 6th grade. Having a summer birthday meant she was the youngest in her class but hopefully her Athena genes would keep her floating. Lol floating cause she's also a legacy of Poseidon...nevermind. I'm worried because her powers have gotten stronger but, it takes a lot of strength out of her. She tries to heal to many things at once and its usually not good. Zoe gets too caught up in her "special power" and being an 11-year-old meant she tried to heal everything from paper cuts to little sunburns and she didn't realize how much energy that sapped out of her.

"Kids, hurry up! Charlie, Zoe, your bus comes in 10 minutes!" I yell up from the bottom of the stairs. Percy was really sad when he left for work. He was hoping to see all the kids off to school.

I suddenly heard feet tumbling down the stairs. Charlie walked in and sat down at the counter. He was wearing an under amour shirt and some sort of sports shorts.

"Hey, excited for eighth grade?" I ask handing him a plate of pancakes. He just nods his head. Then, I hear what sounds like the rest of my children coming down the steps.

"Hey, mommy." They all say in unison. I looked to make sure I approved of their clothing.

Selena was wearing a cute pair of pink shorts and a plain white T-shirt. I mean she was in first grade (as is Luke). Luke was wearing jeans and a blue shirt.

Zoe was a different story. She was wearing jean shorts and a white razorback tank top with the american flag on it. She was also wearing coral vans and her hair was in a very intricate braid.

"Zoe, I like your outfit, but I don't remember buying you those clothes." I didn't think they were inappropriate or anything I just didn't know where they came from.

"Aphrodite thought I needed some new clothes," Zoe said slightly annoyed. I laughed. She was kinda obsessed with our family.

I saw the middle school bus pull into the neighborhood and I yelled,

"C'mon Charlie! C'mon Zoe! Bus is here!" Charlie gobbled up a 5th pancake and then they both ran out to catch the bus. The bus for the elementary school kids came about a half hour later. The twins and I sat out in the driveway waiting for the bus just talking.

"You guys ready for elementary school?" I asked the twins.

"Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes!" My grandchildren of Athena answered.

The bus pulled up and I waved goodbye to my kids as they climbed on the bus. Then I proceeded back to our house.

After all the kids left and I got dressed and ready for the day I started working. I was designing for this new up coming building. I was working from home today sketching and making blue prints and calling clients. I ordered a pizza for lunch, I don't why but I was craving pizza, and didn't realize it was almost time for the kids to get home. Charlie usually went to RJ's house after school.

I was about to walk to the bus stop where Selena and Luke and Zoe would be when there was a knock at the door. I walked over and opened it to see RJ carrying Zoe in his arms. Zoe looked like she was asleep and they both looked like they had been in a pretty rough fight. Both of their clothes had been torn.

"Oh my gods. Come in," I said rushing RJ to the couch to put Zoe down. He put her down but kept his hand on hers. "Tell me everything Rj."

"Charlie and I were in our last class when we heard someone scream outside. Charlie thought it sounded like Zoe so we got excused from class and ran outside. When we got there we saw a kid on the ground his arm was bleeding badly. Zoe was standing next to him trying to fight of a monster. She must've saw the monster from her class and chased it to the eighth grade side so she could get help. Charlie and I ran to her and we eventually killed it. Then, Zoe turned to the kid and who was mumbling in pain. Zoe tried to help him but Charlie held her back saying that she'd hurt herself and that we could heal him with ambrosia. Zoe got out of his hold and ran to the kid. She grab his arm and closed her eyes. She started whispering something and water started coming from the wound healing it. Zoe started glowing, like actually glowing. Then, it all stopped, the water, the glowing, everything. Zoe slumped over and passed out. Charlie stayed with the kid and I brought Zoe here." RJ said.

"Are you guys okay?" I asked. I started mumbling to myself. Is she having a blackout right now? What memory is she having? This the 2nd time in about 2 weeks.

"Ya, were fine," RJ said looking at Zoe. He was always really kind to her. "Is she going to be okay?" RJ asked.

"Ya, she doesn't look in pain, when she uses to much power she just needs to sleep." I say brushing some hair out of her face. "I mean I'm guessing this has only happened on her birthday..."

Charlie burst through the front door and walked over to the couch where Zoe was still out.

"You okay?" He asked Rj who was leaning over Zoe.

"Yeah dude I'm good, you?" He asked.

"I just iris messaged Chiron," Charlie said. "Ya know, just so he knows Zoe has had her second blackout." "

"Good idea," I said. I should call Percy, I thought.

"Hey thanks for carrying my sister," Charlie said to Rj.

"Yeah, it was no problem at all. Well, I should get home before my parents get worried. I have to babysit Greta tonight," RJ said grumpily.

"Have fun dude," Charlie says. RJ nods and leaves.

We brought Zoe up to her bed and I called Percy and told him everything after Charlie explained the entire story. Apparently he didn't know the kid who was hurt, Charlie said he must've been a new 6th grader like Zoe. I walked into Zoe's room about 2 hours later with something to eat to find her starting to sit up in bed.

"Hey mom," Zoe said more awake now. "Wait why am I here? Where's the monster? Is Justin ok?"

"Shhhhh Zoe, everything is ok. The monster is dead and...Justin...is ok. You just used too much power and you passed out."

"Ok. Hey mom is Rj still here?"

"He left." I say.

"Tell him I say thank you." Zoe says then she picked up the soup and began to eat it silently.

"Remember to sleep a little more," I say to her and then I took her silence as my cue to leave.

I walked downstairs to find Charlie and Percy talking on the couch.

"Hey sweetheart," Percy says to me as I sit in a chair next to them.

"Hey Seaweed Brain," I answer. "Hey wait a second, do you guys know a...Justin....he was the guy Zoe healed and fought the monster with."

"JUSTIN?!" Percy and Charlie yell at the same time.

"Yeah what about him?" I ask.

"That's Zoe's 'boyfriend'," Charlie answers.

"He's a demigod?" Percy asks. "Oh gods I wonder if Zoe knew that."

"Well she's sleeping now so let's not ask her," I say getting up to go make dinner.

"Who wants hotdogs?" I ask.

"I'll turn on the grill!" Percy said jumping up.

I walked over to get the hotdogs still confused on the story. When Zoe wakes up, will she remember any of it?
