Chapter 15: Coffee Shop
Annabeth
Four weeks later
For the last four weeks of meets, I stay late, and the Savior and I just talk. About anything and everything... I think I... like him? Even though I don't know what his face looks like, it is easy to say he is not only ripped, but is extremely nice and is really easy to talk with. He is also really funny, sarcastic, and... I think I dectect a bit of...sass?
It is time for his last match of the day. As far as I know, he has never lost a single race ever. I don't think he ever will either. Today, he is just doing an "easy" 200. I watch him swim back and forth, wondering how he can swim so fast.
Later
After the meet, I wait in the bleachers until he comes out, like usual. This time you can see fingerprints bruising his neck and I can see that someone has once again tried to hurt him. I really hate seeing him like this. He runs a hand through his raven hair.
"Uhmmm..." he says awkwardly, "do you want to go to a coffee shop with me, or something?"
"Sure, I would love to." I reply. We head out into his surprisingly modest car where he starts to drive to the nearest coffee shop. When we get there, the Savior still doesn't take off his mask. We sit down, and the cashier greets us with a slight wide eyed notion, seeing as the guy I am with is The Savior.
We sit down and are immediately found by a waiter. The waiter goes up to us and asks for our order. The Savior get a blue cherry coke, which is weird, and I get an iced tea.
"So," I say, "how have you been doing? I see that those jerks haven't stopped trying to beat you up." Raising an eyebrow and gesturing to his neck and the bruises lining it.
He shifts to rest his chin on his hand, covering up as much as he can of the bruises. He suddenly directs fire onto me.
"Well, clearly, you've been seeing some abuse too." The Savior says. My eyes widen, and I give him a death glare.
"What?!" I bite out, keeping up my glare.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean it so harshly. It's just..." He trails off and raises a hand to my cheek, where a bruise from yesterday has begun show.
My eyes lock with his, and the next thing I know, I am slowly leaning forward. My eyes brush shut.
"Hi!" The waiter jumps up, seemingly out of nowhere.
The Savior jumped back into his seat.
The waiter raises his eyebrows and hands us our drinks. "Well, I'll let you two lovebirds at it." He says with a wink.
"I-um-we-u-I-we-uhhhhhh..." The Savior stutters, awkwardly.
"Thank you," I smile at the waiter. I can feel my cheeks blushing a bright scarlet.
(Hi, guys. Happy new year!! I am sorry that this chapter isn't entirely great, but I promise they will start to get more intense and hopefully more interesting. I look forward to writing for you this year, and I resolve to start writing more this year. Interesting fact, this last scene is loosely based of a scenario that happened to my friend and her boyfriend. I love you all and will see you soon.
Love,
Leah
