Chapter Eleven: I Get Rejected

After reading the House of Hades, I'm going to have to change this book a little bit. if you don't want a spoiler... then unfortunately you'll have to stop reading. If you've already read HoH you probably already know this stuff.

1. Remember Calypso from the original Percy Jackson series? She's back, but this time it was Leo who fell onto her island. And this time, Leo likes her back. See where I'm going? Leo leaves the island but swears on the River Styx that he will come back for her. I'm sure he will by the end of the series, but he hasn't yet by the end of the House of Hades. So, that's going to change Leo's love life a little bit.

2. So, Nico's gay. He had a crush on Percy. Well, put that together with the fact that I now realize Rachel is supposed to stay single forever, and their relationship isn't really possible. Still, I'm not really sure how to fix it so I hope you guys can just ignore that and go on with it.

3. If you read this chapter before I revised it, you'll know that I said I was going to do Lazel. Lucky for you Frazel lovers, I'm not. Hope you guys don't mind these changes.

Enjoy***

Chapter 11: I Get Rejected

LEO'S POV

Capture the Flag ended up being Artemis and Hepahestus vs. everybody else. Luckily, the hunters, with super powers of sorts plus there godly parent's power and lots of practice, were really good. Especially Thalia. How she could look so hot while releasing something so deadly, he wasn't sure. But, in a hunter of Artemis's hands, a bow and arrows were definitely deadly. Thankfully, though, they didn't kill anybody. That might cause minor problems.

The previous night had been a dream to Leo. He had had a crush on Thalia ever since he first met her, but at that point, she had looked at him like he was pond scum. He couldn't imagine that someone so hot could like him, and more than that, risk who knows what to see him.

But it wasn't just Thalia's looks that Leo liked. It was her personality, which was just plain cool. You could call her goth, or punk, but cool fit the description pretty well. She wasn't girly at all, and Leo liked that about her.

So, you can imagine that he loved working with her. He got out his most technical weapons in hopes to impress her even more. Or just win the game.

Leo and Thalia's team absolutely kicked the other team's butts. The Aphrodite cabin never did much, except for maybe Piper, but she could only do so much if you covered your ears. Percy wanted to stay by Annabeth and the Athena cabin had lost their best fighter by far. Hazel and Frank, being from Camp Jupiter, didn't participate in capture the flag, so that basically left Ares cabin and Jason as there biggest enemies.

The Ares cabin couldn't do much from a long distance with their swords and heavy spears, so they had a hard time getting close to the other team's flag without Thalia shooting them with an arrow. Jason managed to fly overhead without being noticed, but Leo kept him from getting the flag.

Meanwhile, most of the other hunters snuck around the woods to get the enemy flag. With their speed and stealth acquired from Artemis and their experience hunting, they managed to get it pretty quickly. The hunters and Hephaestus's cabin cheered wildly as the symbol on the flag changed to a bow and arrow (the hunters had been the ones who had actually captured the flag).

Afterward, Thalia told Leo to meet her by the canoeing area of lake again. Without hesitating, he made his way through the woods and sat down on his side of the log again.

The sun was just sinking down over the water when Thalia sat down next me.

"You did really good there," he complimented. "That was awesome how you kept all the Ares kids away."

"Thanks," she grinned at him.

And they sat there taking again, about weapons and music and Leo's favorite topic, food. He slowly out his arm around her, waiting for her reaction, but she didn't reject it. Suddenly she turned her head and their eyes met. She slowly leaned in, and soon their eyes weren't the only things that were meeting.

Leo pulled Thalia into him, savoring the kiss. Unfortunately, the noise of snapping twigs behind startled them away from each other.

"Who's there?" A girl's voice called out. Leo and Thalia stayed silent and motionless, except for Thalia's eyes, which widened in fear.

"Hello?" The voice yelled. Soon Leo saw a silhouette sneak into the edge of the woods by their clearing, a bow and arrow out and ready to shoot.

One of Thalia's hunters.

"Hello?" She called out again. Leo heard her footsteps coming closer and closer until she stepped into their little circle of moonlight and saw the pair together.

"What the- Thalia?!" She said in shock. "Thalia, get over here!"

Without saying a word to Leo, Thalia took a shaky breath and stood up.

THALIA'S POV

"What in Hades do you think you're doing?!" Nadia, daughter of Apollo and Thalia's fellow hunter exclaimed to her as soon as they were out of earshot of Leo.

"It's not- we're just... friends," Thalia mumbled.

"Sure you are. But even if that was true, which it's clearly not, he's still a boy and you are not supposed to be with him! Especially alone! What were you thinking?"

"Are you- Are you going to tell Artemis?"

Nadia sighed. "No. She'd probably kill you. Or turn you into a bear. Or fried quesadillas. You're a great hunter and a great friend, so I don't want to lose you. But if you keep doing this," Nadia jerked her head in the direction that Leo was still sitting on the log by the lake,"she'll find out anyway. And there's now saving you then."

"I'm sorry," Thalia murmured.

"I don't know what got into you, Thalia. A crush is one thing, you can hardly control that. But acting on it.. And did I hear a couple kissing? Artemis doesn't make you take that oath for nothing."

Thalia as ashamed. Hearing it from one of the hunters, her crime sounded much, much worse.

"Can I go... say goodbye to him? I mean, tell him it won't work anymore?" She asked quietly.

"You'll have to," Nadia agreed. "I'll be back at the cabin. The others wanted to have a discussion about where we're heading next, so I came to find you. I'll tell them you'll be back soon." She gave Thalia a look, like, "You better be back soon." With that, she turned around and headed back into the woods.

"Leo?" She said shakily. He didn't answer, just stared down at the ground. He knew what was coming.

Thalia really didn't want to do this to him. Leo deserved so much more than to be single, and she really didn't want to let him go. Still, she had taken the oath for a reason, and she she has to keep true to her word.

Thalia sat down softly on the log beside him and gazed out at the lake in silence.

"Leo, we can't do this anymore," she said suddenly.

"I know," he muttered. Thalia sighed.

"It's not that I don't like you, Leo. I really do. It's just... If Artemis finds out, which she definitely will if we don't end this now, we'll both end up as fried quesadillas. It just won't work."

This time Leo sighed, and she knew that she had just ended their relationship. She really wished she didn't have to do it, but it wouldn't work. It couldn't.

"I'll just go, then," Leo mumbled as he got up. He brushed himself off, took one last look at Thalia, and headed away into the trees. Thalia sat there staring out at the lake for a few more minutes before she too got up. She slowly trudged through the woods, and, wiping the depressed expression off her face, she entered the brightly lit Artemis cabin to face her fellow hunters.

LEO'S POV {Sorry for all the switching around...}

Leo didn't get it. What had he done wrong to deserve this? Everyone had a boyfriend/girlfriend/husband/wife except him. Percy had Annabeth, Jason had Piper, Frank had Hazel.

He always fell in love with people that were off limits. Khione the snow goddess (she hated him because he had powers with fire), Thalia and... Calypso. The thought of her was always burning in the back of his mind. His friends thought the prophecy was over, though they hadn't been sure what the line "an oath to keep with a final breath had meant." Leo knew what it meant, and he knew that so far he had only broken that oath. He had sworn on the river Styx to go back and rescue Calypso, yet he hadn't even made an attempt to.

He was feeling really depressed by the time he got back to his and his friends' house. He knew that they always tried to help him fit in, but it wouldn't be the same if he never found a girlfriend.

Leo went straight to the basement, where his workshop was. He started tinkering around with bits of metal, trying to make something, but he really wasn't in the mood. Finally he gave up and threw his project down in frustration. He went back upstairs, planning to get something to eat, though he wasn't really hungry. Instead, he gazed out the window at the lake. It was the same lake he had sat next to with Thalia, just about an hour ago, though it seemed like much longer.

When he noticed Percy sitting outside on the bench, he opened the sliding glass door and stepped outside into the cool night air. Without saying a word, he sat down next to him and stared out, wishing Thalia was sitting next to him.

"It really sucks not having my girl around," Percy said suddenly.

"Tell me about it," Leo replied bitterly.

"Sorry," Percy muttered, though he didn't know the half of it.

**I apologize for the short chapter, but it's been so long that I really wanted to get an update in.

I've got lot's planned for the next chapter. I finally thought of a way to cure Annabeth, so, that'll be good.
Anyways, don't forget to vote! If you want.
