Where Canon Disappears
Winner of the Trivia is ruby_mcandrew Good Job! Now that Quarantine is happening, I've revisited my incomplete works. I'll try to update regularly now!
Percy POV
I uncapped Riptide and took a deep breath, as long as Annabeth got away okay it didn't matter what happened to me. The Arai cackled at me "You think you will save your lover, think again" they said in one echoey voice. "No" I said calmly, "You want a fight, you'll get it here, with me" I raised my sword and charged.
I sliced and swung, and jumped and ducked. I felt pain coming from all directions, but I didn't stop, I was doing this for Annabeth. Anything for her. I could tell I was surrounded by the ugly bat-like creatures, I knew the only way to get out of this alive was to run, but I was worried they would follow me back to Annabeth.
I mapped out a path through them, hoping that they couldn't follow me far. I didn't want to give up a chance for a happy future if there was any way I could survive. I ran into the pack, doing my best to dodge their talons. I cut one in half and felt my vision go dark. "Oh Gods" I muttered, "I'm so close".
I kept moving, wary of the cliff I was blindly fighting along. I ran, escaping the Arai, but having to pull myself up after slipping on the cliff's edge. "Percy?" asked a familiar voice cautiously. I laughed in relief "Bob!". "Are you okay?" Bob asked. "Probably not, but the biggest thing is that I can't see" I responded. "Is Annabeth okay? Where is she? Why did you leave her?" I asked frantically.
"Annabeth is safe, she wanted me to help you"
"Can you heal me? We need to get back to Annabeth as soon as possible" Bob nodded and touched my forehead. Immediately I could see again, it felt like a huge weight had been lifted off my body. "Thank you, Bob". Bob nodded.
Annabeth P.O.V.
A huge lizard-like creature emerged from the darkness, its scales shimmering in the lava light. I started praying to Athena, Zeus, and even Hades, knowing it was pointless, but the only way I was going to survive was some kind of divine intervention. The monster shrieked again, this time Annabeth couldn't help but cover her ears. It locked its eyes on her and started to creep forward.
"Please, I can't fight, this isn't fair" Annabeth pleaded, feeling the farthest from herself. "I'm going to have a baby, please don't hurt us". The creature paused and tilted its head. Annabeth was taken aback.
"Can you understand me?" she asked. The monster bobbed its head. "Are you going to hurt me?" It shook back and forth. Annabeth hesitated "Would you... help me?" the monster nodded.
Annabeth laughed, how was it she managed to find a good monster in Tartarus.
She was broken out of her thoughts by a different, quieter battle cry coming from behind her. It was charging at the giant lizard.
"Wait no! Don't hurt it" She hoped this was Bob's friend, and not another hostile creature.
"I must kill it" the Red Giant said, "It is my curse". Annabeth paused "Curses are meant to be broken, this is your chance to make your own fate".
The Giant smiled "I suppose you are right, child". Annabeth returned the smile "I'm a child of Athena, I am always right".
