#24 Never Again Pt 2
*EXTREMELY IMPORTANT*
I almost cried during the last one shot, so I thought I'd make a Afterwards part for it. Yeah. If you didn't read the last one shot, you might want to go back and read it.
And if you didn't go back and read the One Shot, this probably won't make any sense.
So yeah.
Percy held her sleeping figure to him tightly, his head laying on the soft pillow they shared. His entire body ached for sleep, ached for just one minute of shut eye and relaxation.
But he couldn't. He wasn't going to let it happen again. He'd hold her and never let her go, never let Hera get her again. After all, he wasn't sure he could survive if she died again. He would have anything to keep him going. Sure, there was his mom and Tyson, but his leaving wouldn't completely destroy them. They'd hurt for a little while, but they'd get over it. If he had died during the war, he wouldn't be able to make sure his friends were okay.
It was the only thing that kept him going when his will to live had left him.
Percy pulled her closer, still. Taking deep breaths as the pain of losing her washed away. It seemed like a dream. Walking through Camp Jupiter, looking for her, then finding out she was gone. Gone forever. The pain had been unbearable, like cold knives piercing every single bit of his body.
Annabeth shifted, her eyes opening as she looked up at him, "Percy?" She asked softly, narrowing her eyes in the dim light, "Why are you still awake?" Percy smiled, taking a deep breath.
"Not tired." He lied, taking one of her blonde curls between his fingers. Annabeth frowned, shifting slightly. He could tell she was still tired, but her eyes were open wide as she looked at him.
"You're lying." She said factually, looking him in the eyes. Percy laughed out loud, dropping the curl of hair and placing his hand on her waist again. He stayed silent, so she kept talking, "Why are you awake?" She repeated.
Percy rubbed at his eyes, shaking his head, and suddenly Annabeth's stormy eyes lit up with understanding. "Oh." Was all she said, biting her lip,
"Yeah..." Percy wrapped his arm around her again, looking into her analyzing eyes.
"You're an idiot." She shook her head, but a smile played on her lips.
"I know I am," Percy smirked, "But I'm your idiot." Annabeth laughed, kissing his lips lightly.
"I love you, Seaweed Brain." She said, curling up next to him. Percy's head ended up tucked right under her chin, his arms at her waist.
"I love you too, Wise Girl." He whispered, his eyes fluttering closed.
He fell asleep to her heart beat.
