💀Special Edition: Solangelo's Kid🌞
AN: OUR FAVORITE GAY SHIP...SOLANGELO!!! In this special chappie (I did say we would have special chapters, after all), Solangelo adopts a kid? But who will it be?
Nico's POV
"We're here, Sunshine." Will parked the car, ruffling my hair. I scowled but didn't protest. To be honest, I really liked Will, even though I made out I did not want him around.
"C'mon." Will said, tugging at my hand. He was officially my beautiful husband now. I smiled a little to think that I had him all to myself.
"So, this is the amazing Stoneybrook Orphanage." I said sarcastically, looking at the big gray building. It made me feel like a kid again, like the orphanage was saying, "Hey kid, you'd better behave or you get a beating." It was like a strict teacher, gazing down at me with that stern gaze.
"I don't understand how kids can live here, y'know?" Will frowned. "Poor orphans."
"Mm-hm." I followed him, my hands in pockets. "So let's see what kind of kids they got."
Will rang the bell and waited. We heard the din inside, kids screaming, and a single loud voice, louder than all the rest, yelling, "SOMEONE'S AT THE DOOR, YOU LITTLE RATS! YOU DON'T WANT THEM TO HEAR YOUR NOISE!"
"Well, we definitely heard her." I commented to Will, who chuckled.
The door opened moments later. There stood quite a stern looking matron---or who I assumed must be that screaming matron. She had put on layers of sloppy make-up in an attempt to look pretty. She looked fierce instead, her face all wrong, her lips too bright.
"Hello, dears!" she exclaimed. "How may I he----oh. Well, hello, gentlemen. Ah, I'd better let my colleague handle this---gays."
She said the last word very softly, but both Will and I had heard. I flushed a bright tomato red as she went away, probably looking for her colleague.
"Hey, it's okay, Sunshine." Will murmured. "She was an idiot anyway."
I flashed him a weak smile. Just then, came another lady rushing to the door. She had light sandy hair in pigtails and looked like she should be one of the kids, not someone in charge, definitely not a matron. But she shook hands with me and smiled genuinely. "Hi, I'm Matron Snippers but call me Hayley---I know, a very stupid last name, I know. The kids tease me all the time. Oh, and by the way, don't mind my fellow matron, Matron Hubert. She's----um, quite hard on any member of the LGBTQ+ society. I should know---I'm bi."
She said this all in one breath, and I nodded slowly, trying to process her words.
"So, are you here to adopt, sirs?" she asked brightly.
"Yeah." Will smiled.
"Sure! So, please come this way...yeah, to the right."
There was a whole room full of children. At first, they didn't see Hayley, Will and I there. The room was in full chaotic mode. There were kids fighting over toys, kids bawling their heads off, kids screaming. Once they saw us, they gasped and lined up immediately. Hayley laughed and rolled her eyes at us.
"So, lemme ask you." Hayley began. "What kids are you looking for?"
Will squeezed my hand, encouraging me to speak.
"Uh, we're looking for a girl---"
At this the boys scowled while the girls looked hopeful. One little boy started to bawl loudly.
"And um, not too old." I continued. "So maybe around six to ten."
The older girls sighed and looked disappointed. The youngest ones didn't really know what was going on and continued playing, while the girls from six to ten lined up.
There were 4 girls that were six to ten years-old. A dark-haired one named Margo, a blonde-haired, blue-eyed one named Crystal, a scowling brunette named Claire, and a dark pushy girl named Brittany.
"I-I don't think any of these girls are right for us." I told Hayley after asking them questions.
"Aww." Margo tugged at Will's jeans.
"Wait, don't go yet." Hayley called as Will and I turned to the door. "I don't know where Tania is. She's eight, and quite timid, but smart too. The other kids keep bullying her because they're jealous. TANIA!" she called.
A whimper came from the room across the corridor. The library, Hayley had told us.
"Tania?" Hayley said uncertainly. I peeked into the room and gasped.
Two boys were pummeling a small redhead, who was sprawled on the floor, tears spilling out of her light brown eyes. A third boy had a silver heart necklace cupped in his hands and was tugging at the chain, obviously trying to make it break. The little girl sobbed and choked out, "D-d-don't t-t-touch t-t-that n-n-necklace..."
The boys laughed and one of them kicked her. The girl whimpered again. I couldn't take it anymore.
Neither could Hayley. "BOYS! WHAT HAS GOTTEN INTO YOU?" she yelled. Boy, she was mad.
The three boys snapped to attention. Once they saw Will and I, they stood even straighter. But I only had eyes for the little girl called Tania.
"Hi. I'm Nico, and this is my husband, Will." I said softly, gesturing to Will and I. Tania jumped at the sound of my voice. She had cupped the heart necklace in her hands like it was a precious treasure. "What's that?"
"I-it's the only thing my m-mother gave m-me." Tania whispered shyly.
"Tania was found on the doorstep of this orphanage." Hayley explained, "At least, that's what Matron Hubert says. I wasn't there at the time because I'm new, so...anyway, she was just laid there, wrapped in a blanket. With her was the silver heart necklace and a note saying, 'This is from her mother.' Where she came from is a mystery."
Tania sniffled. The three boys stood there, heads hung and faces full of guilt.
"You may go, Thomas, Michael, Raymond." Hayley said in the sternest voice I'd heard her use since we met her. "This isn't over yet."
With that, the three boys fled, leaving Hayley, Will, Tania and I standing there.
For a while it was silent in the little library.
I gathered up my courage and told Hayley, "I want to adopt Tania."
"Nico? Are you sure?" Will asked me softly.
"Yes." I said, looking into Tania's eyes. "I just have that feeling, you know? That special feeling. Tania, do you want us as your dads?"
"Really?" Tania said shyly. "I-I'd love to. And...I don't want my name anymore."
"What?" Will and I asked in unison, bewildered.
"This is not who I am." Tania said suddenly, speaking with confidence. "The orphanage gave this name to me. With this name I am weak and timid. But with a new name, it's a new, fresh start." She stopped talking and looked at Will and I shyly. "Um, if it's okay with you guys, that is."
Will smiled at me. I was briefly reminded of Hazel, who had said the same words to me before. "A new start," Hazel had said. "A second chance."
It made me even more certain that Tania was the one.
"Yes, we'll change your name." I smiled warmly at her. "How do you feel about...Bianca?"
A smile spread across her face. "Bianca. I like it." Tania--no, Bianca whispered.
