"Luke, you okay?"

I always needed time on my own

"Fuck off Silena---I mean, go away." I sobbed into my pillow.

"I'm Zoë, stupid." She bent down and looked at me worryingly. "What, you have a crush on Sammy?"

I never thought I'd need you there when I cry

She was obviously just teasing, but I fell onto the floor from my bed. "What the---"

"Oh gods. You mean---you're gay? And you really like my boyfriend? Oh gods."

Boyfriend. The one thing I'd been wanting to call Sammy Zhang forever.

And the days feel like years when I'm alone

"I'm bi." I mumbled, wiping away the tear streaks on my face. "And there I was trying to keep it a secret forever."

"You should've told me earlier." Zoë sighed, patting my back. "Look, bro, I love him, you love him, I told him first, so um, there's really nothing we can do now..."

And the bed where you lie
Is made up on your side

She trailed off, shuffling her feet. I stared at the ground.

"You could give him up. For me." I said quietly.

When you walk away I count the steps that you take

"What? No! I had him first! You should've told him first, right?"

"Yeah, and who's been the popular girl since forever?" I growled, my anger bubbling up. "You! Who's always been the twin in the shadows, the bullied geek? Me!"

Zoë stood there in shock. I guess I'd never been this angry before.

"You get everything." I continued, pointing a finger at her. "Friends, happiness, popular without trying. You could at least be less selfish and give him to me for once! So fuck off!"

"Luke, I---" Zoë had tears in her eyes.

"Just go." I said quietly. She ran off, probably to tell Sammy. Good. Good riddance.

I collapsed onto my bed sobbing louder than before.
