Warrior Scars
(WARNING: Mentions of self harm, self harm scars)
A/N: This is based on something that I saw on Tumblr a while ago!:) Pretty much, somebody had to babysit and they have self harm scars. The kids pointed them out and the person explained to them that they were warrior scars and the children got excited. They went to the store and saw someone else with self harm scars. The children went up to them and were excited of them because of their scars and how wonderful of a warrior they were. Well, let's go on!:)
"Hello, Mrs. Reign," Scott replied after the door opened, his blue eyes crinkling in happiness. The young mother of two smiled up at the tall boy as she welcomed him inside. "I am elated to watch your children today. Is there anything I need to know?"
"M.J needs to do her homework," Mrs. Reign replied as she gathered her stuff. She quickly grabbed her purse and handed a small teddy bear to Scott. "Alice already took her nap and I need you to go the store. I left some money and the grocery list on the counter for you. I'll be back around ten and make sure that Alice goes to bed at eight and M.J goes to bed at eight thirty."
Scott nodded as he saw Mary Reign look down at his wrists. Scars covered his wrists nonstop. They are old though. Nine months of therapy helped the young boy with everything he was struggling with. Mary is good friends with Connie and Richard Hoying so it sadden her when she heard what Scott was going through. She helped the Hoyings a lot when Scott went to the rehabilitation center and therapy sessions. Scott is really grateful for her.
"I hope everything is going fine. I'm sorry if they point them out," Mary murmured, rubbing Scott's wrists softly. Scott nodded as the older woman let them go. "M.J and Alice will probably ask about them. I'm sorry if they do. Margret Josefina, Alice! Mommy's leaving!"
"Bye, Mommy!"
Scott laughed when the right and four year old trampled down the stairs. They hugged their mom and she laughed as she hugged them back. She waved to them, reminding M.J to do her homework. Scott then walked into the kitchen, taking some stuff out for dinner and put the money in his pocket for later. He then distanced himself from the knives and looked down at his wrists. He sighed as he tried to figure out why he did that. He didn't realize that the girls were behind him until M.J pulled his shirt. He quickly turned around and smiled at the girls.
"Hey, girls," Scott responded, squatting down so he could eye level to Alice. The four year old giggled as she hugged him. "How are you guys?"
"Good," M.J replied, pushing her bangs pack on her pixie hairstyle. She looked up at him when he stood up, Alice in his arms. "We missed you. You were gone for a long time. Mom said that you went to a special place for a long time because you were sad. She didn't say what it was called though. She said we're too young to know what the place was called."
"She's right," Scott confirmed, his chest tightening after M.J shared that. He knew that the Reigns heard the whole story. The family was nothing but supportive when the Hoyings were going through that tough time. "How about we watch Spongebob until we have to go to the store?"
The girls nodded their heads excitedly and the three of them walked into the living room. Scott set Alice down and was about to turn on the T.V when her small hands caught his wrist. He sat down, not resisting. Alice stared intensely at it, tilting her head once in a while. M.J stood up, looking at the wrist too. Scott didn't even move, he was too scared to do so. What are they going to say? Alice then smiled up to him and let go of his wrist, which he brought back nervously.
"A pirate looks like he hurt your arms," Alice commented, M.J nodding in agreement. Scott then widened his eyes. He never heard on a child's perspective on his wrist, only teenagers and adults. They were usually judgement and sympathetic and he can't tell which one is worse. "Are you Peter Pan? Because if you are, Captain Hook is a meanie. He has no right to hurt your arms! That's mean!"
"Yeah," M.J agreed, nodding her head in agreement. She then looked at Scott's wrists, observing every scar. She looked up at him, sad. "Some of them look deep. Did he really cut you that hard?"
Scott couldn't answer. In fact, he had idea how to respond to that. An idea, thank God, finally popped into his head. This will hopefully work.
"Do you know what?" Scott asked, bringing their attention to him. He then cleared his throat, nervous. He never talked about what he went through those last nine months." Somewhere around last year, there were pirates, monsters, anything evil that you can think of, that wanted to hurt me. They hurt me with every chance they had, even if I didn't want to. They did it when I was sad, really sad. They did it when I felt like crying or screaming. I hated it because it hurt and I cried even more after they were done. The worst part is that I made them do it, even though it hurt.
" I thought nobody will find out, but my mommy and daddy did. They were sad and couldn't find out why I did it. They then took me to the special place, where I stayed for nine months. One by one, they began to disappear. They tried to come back, but heroes saved me. They fought them so I wouldn't get hurt. I loved my heroes so much. When I had to leave, I was sad. They told me that I was a warrior because even though I went through it, I fought back. My scars symbolize me being a warrior.
"Yes, there are warriors that got taken away by the monsters that made me hurt myself. They are still warriors though; they just needed to go someplace happier. So you see guys, whenever you see someone with scars like me, tell them that they are warriors."
M.J and Alice nodded excitedly, nick naming Scott 'the tall warrior'. He laughed at the nickname, but he held it close to his heart.
~~~
Alice, M.J, and Scott all walked into the store and went towards the back. After telling them the story, Scott rolled his sleeves up, showing his scars. He knew he'll get stares because of them, but he doesn't care. He is his own warrior. Be went to get some milk when he passed a boy shorter than looking at something and Alice and M.J stopped suddenly. He didn't notice until he saw them talking to the boy, who smiling and laughing at whatever they were saying. Scott then turned around and went back up to them.
"In so sorry," Scott apologized to the boy. The boy smiled at him, his dimples prominent. Wow, he's cute. "I'm babysitting, haha."
"It's okay," the boy answered. He then put back down whatever he was reading and stared up at the tall male. "You're Scott Hoying, aren't you?"
"Yep. And you are?"
"Mitch Grassi," the smaller boy responded. He was about to say something when Alice grabbed his arm, making him flinch. "Ow."
"Alice," Scott scolded, crossing his arms. Alice them looked up innocently. "Why did you do that?"
"He has warrior scars," Alice pointed out, making Mitch raise an eyebrow. Scott nodded his head slowly, realizing what she was saying. "You have them, too!"
"You're a warrior," M.J spoke up, smiling up at Mitch. "Scott's a warrior, too."
"I'm confused," Mitch responded, looking up at Scott. Scott was about to answer when Alice answered for him.
"Scott said that people with scars like his face monsters. He said that the monsters make you hurt yourself when you're sad. Even if you don't want to, they force you to. Scott when to a special place to get better and there were heroes there! They helped him fight off the monsters. After he got better, they called him a warrior because he managed to fight the monsters off himself. He said that there are warriors that lost to the monsters but went someplace happier. He said that if we ever meet someone with scars like his that we should tell them that they are warriors. You're a warrior and you're strong!"
"And amazing," M.J put out, smiling at Mitch. She and Alice didn't see him tear up at the beautiful words. They began to talk about something random.
"Wow," Mitch responded, wiping his eyes. His scars looked brand new and old, red and white colliding with each other. He then looked down at them, looking at each of them. "So, a warrior then, uh?"
"Yeah," Scott replied, looking at his own. He forgot the last time he cut, but he is happy that he doesn't do it anymore. "Uh, want to hang out sometime? I'm always free."
"Of course," Mitch responded, getting a pen out of his bag and wrote a number on Scott's hand. "Feel free to call me, Warrior."
The two boys began to see each other and Scott helped Mitch stop cutting. They eventually began to date and whenever they were together, they kissed each other's scars. They are each other's warriors and their warrior scars only made them into the couple they are today. Five years passed since they met in that grocery store and that was the day Mitch began to stop cutting himself. Of course, there were relapses, but the love they have for each other made them stronger.
And their warrior scars made their love for each other grow as each year passed.
A/N: Another cheesy one. Please, though...if you are going through a tough time and/or cutting yourself, please get help. You are so, so important. You are all my warriors and I love you all so much.:)
