Poem 9 - Home
Home.
Switching on the light,
I took a glance at my watch.
Oh, it's past midnight.
But look at me,
Slumping here and sipping coffee,
All alone, in this huge mansion.
How I desired I had a home,
rather than a house.
Is it too much to ask for,
A sibling to bicker with,
Yet have each other's faith?
A mom to run for comfort,
When I have a sudden burst?
A dad to guide me on the right path,
And prepare me to seek the truth?
How I yearned I had a home,
And not a house?!
I'm willing to give up anything,
To get my family back.
I promise I will not repeat my mistakes, again.
It is now that I realise,
That the house isn't our home,
But the people we love are.
I would've had my family with me, right now,
If I hadn't killed them all, that day.
