20 things. Sigh. 20 things.

1) When I took sailing lessons two summers ago, my instructor told me that I was the most seasickness-prone person she'd ever met.

2) I have a crush on Sydney Carton from "Tale of Two Cities".

3) While we're on the subject of literature, I think Hamlet was only pretending to be mad. Also, you know Donald Duck's Austrian-accented uncle, Ludwig von Drake? (what? Disney comics are totally literature. So there) I firmly believe that he's Donald's uncle by way of being married to Matilda McDuck (Uncle $crooge's sister).

4) One of my middle names is an adjective meaning "lovable" or "amiable" in a European language. If you ask which one, I'll assume you're an identity thief trying to thieve my identity.

5) Raw tomatoes give me hives, but I can eat cooked ones without any trouble. Fabric softener also gives me hives (this actually happens to everyone in my immediate family), but I don't think cooking it would make a difference.

6) I saw "The Blair Witch Project" on DVD, once. I found it to be incredibly boring - the whole film was just some rude people wandering in circles around the same tree, arguing. It bored me so much, I fell asleep. When I woke up, the characters were still wandering around the same tree having the same argument. I was sort of glad when it was heavily implied they were all dead. Sort of glad - but mostly bored.

7) I am often counting - steps on a staircase, beats of music, cracks in a sidewalk, or even windows on passing vehicles - but silently, in my head, so nobody else notices. The counting just sort of keeps track of itself in the background.

8) I love to read poetry, but I can't write it. Having to write it in school was an exercise in frustration.

9) Talking on the phone makes me really nervous. I always have to rehearse what I'm going to say before I call. Sometimes I even write it down.

10) I don't actually know who most allegedly famous celebrities are. I always have to google them.

11) I can touch the almost-tip of my nose with my tongue.

12) I've never been stung by a bee, but I've been stung by wasps twice.

13) Speaking of bees, I'd like to keep bees, and have several books on the subject, but I'd like to take some beekeeping lessons before I go and put in an order for a nuc. Anyhow, if I ever get my hive, I suppose #12 will become false pretty quickly.

14) I hate coffee, and red and blue icing. They all have the same dry, bitter taste.

15) I have a poster with Ray Bradbury on it.

16) I hate travelling. I enjoy being interesting places, but I don't like getting there. At all.

17) I prefer to drive cars with manual transmission. Automatic makes me nervous.

18) A few years ago, the BBC had a quiz up on their website that purported to measure musicality (I can't find it now, so I assume they took it down, but I think it was on the "Lab UK" part of the site). On most parts of the quiz (rhythm, melody, etc.), I did pretty well, scoring around the 80th percentile. But, on the section for emotional engagement with music, I scored in the 0th percentile (yes, that's a zero). This implies that everyone, every single other person who had taken the test, is more emotionally engaged with music than I am.

19) I try to avoid using my debit and credit cards, and use cash for almost everything.

20) I think our purpose in life is to strive to do good, and to avoid doing evil. Unfortunately, I'm not really very good at being purposeful.
