Ricky Hauk-I'm Yours

This is a TV role that Pedro did when he was first starting out acting. Touched By An Angel: Stealing Hope.

It's on YouTube if you want to check it out. It's definitely worth watching!

You've been good friends with Ricky for years and also have a crush on him. He doesn't know.

Do when he mentions another girl, you finally break down and tell Ricky how you feel.

Some minor swearing and angust.

...................

You watch as your best friend, Ricky, comes barreling out of his latest job at a place called Taco Town. Yeech. Who the hell comes up with these ridiculous names?

Probably some guy, who's making millions off of the poor suckers who work at those places. Ricky jogs over to your car and leans down, his youthful face looking tired and tense.

"Hey."

"Hey. I just stopped by to see if you'll need me to come over this evening?"

"I want you to, but Mom's...in a mood. Again." You nod. Ricky's mom hasn't had an easy life and sometimes, it just really wears on her.

"We'll catch up tomorrow, though. I promise." Ricky suddenly flashes that adorable grin of his and immediately you feel your insides turning to Jello.

You've been in love with Ricky for a while now. You want to tell him. But... well, you're scared if you do, things will just get all messed up.

"Okay. If you get a chance, call me later?"

"I'll definitely try." Ricky grins again. "I swear, Y/N, if it wasn't for you, I would have lost my shit years ago."

You duck your head, blushing. Although, it is kind of embarrassing to hear Ricky talk that way, it pleases you as well.

"Aww thanks, Ricky." You kiss your fingers and then gently place them on Ricky's... lips. He blushes, too.

"I should jet. Before Mom calls here and yells at the manager and then ends up yelling at me."

"Okay. Later!"

Ricky waves and then heads for this truck and you drive off.

.................

Ricky doesn't get around to calling you that evening and it makes you feel depressed. You lie in your bed, wishing with all your heart that Ricky was lying here next to you.

You shift around in bed, trying to find a more comfortable position. It doesn't help your mixed up thoughts, though.

You need to just tell him, you tell yourself. Just tell Ricky how you feel. Even if he rejects you, it's better than keeping it pent up inside.

You close your eyes and just conjure up an image of Ricky. Slowly, you drift off to sleep, with Ricky still heavy on your mind.

....................

Ricky catches up with you the next evening and you're thrilled. That is, until he reveals his news.

"I got a date with this pretty blonde girl." He's grinning from ear to ear and your stomach sinks.

"Sounds.. great." You try really hard to smile, but you know you're failing miserably.

Ricky immediately looks concerned as he takes your hand. Your heart jumps.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing."

"Come on, Y/N," Ricky says. "We've been friends long enough that I know when you're upset about something."

"Really, Ricky," you insist. "I'm okay."

Ricky studies your face and you blush, staring at the ground. You realize with satisfaction that Ricky still hasn't let go of your hand.

You reach up and touch his cheek. He smiles a little and oh...how you want to kiss him! There's this funny, little ache inside you.

You move your hand and pull the other one free. Ricky immediately slides his arm around your shoulders and you lean into him.

"You don't want me to go on this date, do you?"

"Why would I not want that?"

"I don't know. You tell me."

"Ricky, I'm...." You stop. You just can't make yourself say the words.

Ricky gently puts his fingers under your chin and gently turns your head so you're looking at each other.

He looks so tender and kind that you're finding yourself being even more drawn in by him.

"Just tell me. Please?"

"I'm in love with you, Ricky." The moment the words are out of your mouth, Ricky does something strange.

He gently kisses you and you nearly jump out of your skin. He cups the back of your head and leans closer.

You smile, touching his hair lightly and Ricky smiles, too, touching your cheek.

"You like me, too?"

Ricky nods and hugs you closer. You nestle against his shoulder and smile against him.

"That really makes my day." Ricky eases you back and gently presses his lips to yours again.

"Yeah. Same."

"Are you going to break off your date with that other girl?"

"I could still give it a try."

You lightly punch him in the arm.

"Or I could just break it off." You grin.

"Yeah, do that one."

...................

Ricky takes you out on a date. A real date. You go see a movie. It's kind of a cheesy one, but you have fun simply because you're with Ricky.

Afterwards, you go grab some milkshakes and then go sit on a hill, overlooking the city. It's radiant and magical and it makes you forget everything else except you being here with Ricky.

As you sit on the back of the truck, leaning against Ricky and slowly sipping your milkshakes and watching the stars come out, you feel so at peace.

"I almost can't believe this is really happening," you say to Ricky. He gives you a gentle squeeze around the waist.

"Yeah, I can't either." Ricky suddenly starts tickling your sides and you burst into giggles. Ricky laughs, too.

You manage to escape and start tickling him back. Ricky's laugh is such a beautiful sound. He hasn't always had a lot of chances to really laugh over the years.

Things have always been hard for him. You know that he's a good poet, but because if what happened with him and his dad years ago, he's scared to write anything down in paper.

You finally stop tickling him and gaze into his beautiful brown eyes and then gently kiss him.

"I think it's time you started learning to write your poems down, Ricky," you say softly.

"I do write them down."

"On paper?" Ricky sighs.

"You know that's something I'll have to work on."

"You can do it," you encourage him and then gently kiss him again. Ricky grins.

"Thanks, Y/N. I'm really happy to have you in my corner." You rest your head on his shoulder.

"Back at you, Ricky."
