I stood alone, in the circle. I shifted from one foot to another, pack members' eyes following my every move. 

Just as the moon was at its peak, pain shot through my body. 

Nothing but pain coursed through my veins, shooting from my back to other body parts. My bones broke and rearranged, making me give out a scream.

I collapsed on the floor, writhing in agony. The snow melted under the heat emanating from my body. Fur grew on my back, feeling like a thousand needles poking the inside of my body.

My claws grew, making me want to tear out my nails. I screamed out so loud, that the shift stopped. The pain was unbearable.

"You must, daughter, you must," said someone in front of me, vaguely familiar, Everything seemed blurry.

I took two deep breaths for my shift to continue. 

I collapsed, my legs spread out beside me. 

Someone came up to me and pulled my chin up. I shouted at them, but it came out as a growl.

My eyes were shutting themselves, making my vision dark from the ends.

I closed my eyes, and welcomed the darkness.

I woke up, to find myself in the same spot, although many kids were missing. They did say, after all, they wouldn't try to move a sleeping alpha wolf.

My mother stood in front of me, telling me to shift back. I shook my head, one time was enough.

She pleaded yet again. I gave in to her pleas.

I shifted back to home, letting out a scream. 

I closed my eyes, and when I opened them, I was sprawled out on the floor, my plain white shirt and shorts absorbing the moisture from the ground. I tried to stand up, but failed miserably.

Dad helped me up, carrying me to the stage.
