Gone Fishing

Narrator's POV

"I think Robert's time has come." Bruce told Thor as he stared inside Robert's tank. The lobster looked very ill and weak.

"No, Robert's just sick. He will recover." Thor said, tapping the glass of the tank gently. "I know him. He's strong. He'll pull through."

Bruce smiled at him. "Sometimes I wonder how you have so much hope and how you always find the positive side to things."

"I'm an optimist." Thor said.

"Wow, where'd you learn that word?" Bruce asked him, laughing a little. "It's a big word."

"I read it out of the small blue book you keep in that shelf. I was bored and took it from the bookshelf, and I read it. 'Thor's such an optimist' is what a sentence said. There's a few chapters in it dedicated to me." Thor said.

"You mean the one in the third shelf in the between the two red books?" Bruce asked. His face was red.

"Yeah." Thor nodded.

"I told you not to read it." Bruce said, taking it out of the shelf. "It's my journal." Bruce turned his back to Thor and began to look for a better place to put it.

"Oh." Thor said. He began to process things...slowly. "Do you really think I'm bulk?" Thor asked him.

A blush tainted Bruce's cheeks. "Um..." He put the journal against his chest. His heart was pounding hard. "Yeah. You work out a lot, so yeah. You're really buff." Bruce said.

"Thanks Banner." Thor smiled. "You're really buff too." Thor put a hand on Bruce's shoulder and winked at him before walking to the door.

"Um..." Bruce grew red in the face, and his knees felt like noodles.

"I'm gonna speak to Stark and see what he's up to." Thor said walking out into the hallway.

"Y-Yeah...you do that." Bruce said.

While Thor made his way to Tony's room, he noticed there was a small crack in the door. He heard mumbling coming from it. He peeked through the crack and saw Tony on the phone.

"I know, I know...but it's really important." Tony said.

Thor listened closely.

"Yes. I know it's far." Tony walked in circles with the phone against his ear. "But it's a school trip, and everyone's going..."

"School trip?" Thor questioned.

"Unfortunately the school doesn't think we need to go that far, so they won't pay for it. My class and I really want to go, so we discussed the details and decided to pay for it ourselves. We gathered some money here and there, but we're short." Tony said tossing a small globe in empty his hand.

"Liar. You haven't been out of your room in a week." Thor whispered.

"Hey, Thor-"

"Not now, Sif. I'm busy." Thor shooed her away.

"Since when do you not have time to work out?" She asked.

He looked at her. "Work out?" He asked.

"Yeah, Fandral and Hogun got out early today." She said.

"Oh, that's great!" He smiled.

"Hold on." He heard Tony say.

Suddenly the door to room 205 closed.

"Oh..." Stephen sat up slowly, putting a hand to his head. "What-"

"How long?" Came a familiar voice.

"Hm?" Stephen looked around. This wasn't his room. He saw The Ancient One standing in front of a window with her back to him.

"How long have been drawing magic from the dark dimension?" She asked.

Fear struck Stephen. He got out of the bed. "I didn't mean to. I was just trying help a friend. I was going to tell you but-"

"Stephen, how long?" She asked again.

"Three months." Stephen admitted, letting his head drop. "Only once, I promise." He said.

She turned to him. Stephen looked up at her and gasped. She had a red glowing mark on her forehead.

"You..." Stephen couldn't believe his eyes.

"Draw magic from the dark dimension." She finished for him.

"But how? Why?" Stephen questioned. He was confused and emotionally disturbed. "Everything you taught me about and how we should never be drawn to it...you're just going to ignore that?"

"Stephen." She started. "I-"

"I can't believe it. You're-"

"I had to do what I had to do. Certainly, I was dishonest and a lot more morally grey than I presented herself, in that I drew power from Dormammu's dimension and in doing so led him to Earth in the first place." She turned to the window again.

"But-"

"I was doing what was necessary to protect the world, and much like Mordo challenging your aversion to killing, I certainly believed some circumstances require actions we wouldn't prefer to make. At best, you can say I was hypocritical in using power I had forbidden others to touch because I didn't trust them with it." She explained. Stephen staid quiet.
"But now, you've discovered a way to use it." She looked back at him. "You require more training, special training."

"I understand." Stephen said.

"I will be the one training you." She said. "Stephen, no one else is allow to know about this."

"Haha! Until next time." Thor said, coming into his and Bruce's room covered in some dirt and holding a shield in his right hand and Mjölnir in the other.

"I see you've been training hard." Bruce said.

"Yes." Thor said, putting the held down. He tossed Mjölnir in the air and caught her. He went over to Robert's tank. He smiled at him. "Hi, Robert." He took the lobster out of the tank.

"How was Tony?" Bruce asked him. "Did he have anything to say?"

"Oh, I totally forgot about him. Sif offered me to go and train, that I got off track." Thor laughed. He looked back at Bruce with Robert in his arms. "But he was on the phone with someone talking about a school trip."

"School trip?" Bruce asked. Thor nodded. "The school isn't making a trip."

"Then why did he say he was going somewhere that was really far, far away." Thor asked him.

Bruce raised a brow. Then he realized something. He ran out to the hall to Tony's room.

"Hey, wait for me." Thor ran after him.

They stopped in front of Tony's door. There was a piece of paper stuck on the door with tape.

Gone Fishing

"Gone fishing." Bruce took the paper from the door.

Thor gasped hysterically. "Do not say that in front of Robert." He shielded Robert's eyes.

Bruce rolled his eyes and turned the note over. It was blank.

"Where do you think he went..." Thor looked down at at Robert. "...the "f word"?" He whispered.

Bruce looked up from the note. "I might have an idea."
