Ain't That a Kick in The Head

Narrator's POV

"Do you have your sleeping sack?" Stephen asked, rolling up his sleeping sack.

"Yes. I tossed it in the Jeep." Tony said.

"I secured the beach chairs on the roof." Bruce said.

"Everyone ready and packed?" Bruce asked the rest of the people.

"I don't have my shovel." Everett said, looking around.

"I put it in the car along with your fossils." T'challa said.

"Oh." Everett sighed. "Thanks."

"Why do you find rocks so interesting?" Bucky asked, putting a cooler in the back of the car.

"It's history." Everett said. "It's important... Plus, they're cool."

"History's pretty cool." Steve said.

"Banner! Banner!" Thor shouted, running to Bruce.

Bruce turned around. He saw Thor running to him. He had something in his hands. "What is it?" Bruce asked.

"Look." Thor said, stopping and opening his hands. "I made this for you." He said, revealing a shell necklace.

It had beautiful colored shells on a string. There was a pearl on one side. It was messy, but unique and cute.

"That's great, Thor. Thank you." Bruce smiled.

"Put it on." Thor said, handing it to him.

"I will." Bruce said, putting it over his head. He looked down at it. "It's beautiful. Thank you."

"I knew you would like it." Thor smiled. Bruce smiled at him. Thor put his hands behind his back and blushed. He looked down at his feet. "Now, you can remember the wonderful time we had at the beach...together."

Bruce smiled. "Yes. Yes I will."

Thor looked up at him, smiling.

"Hey." Tony's voice ruined the moment.

Bruce and Thor turned to him.

"I'm driving." Tony said.

Bruce and Thor looked at each other.

"I call shotgun!" Bruce said, running to the car.

"Hey!" Thor ran after him.

Soon, everyone was all packed up and ready to go. They all said their farewells to the beach. Thor even put a small cross on some rocks for Robert.

Life's like a road that you travel on
When there's one day here and the next day gone
Sometimes you bend and sometimes you stand
Sometimes you turn your back to the wind

There's a world outside every darkened door
Where blues won't haunt you anymore
Where brave are free and lovers soar
Come ride with me to the distant shore

Tony turned the radio down when he looked back through the rearview mirror and saw Thor embracing the same cooler Robert had come in on the trip. "Hey Point Break, you okay?"

Everyone looked at Thor now.

He took in a deep breath and let it out. "I miss Robert."

Stephen, who was sitting with Thor in the backseat, put a hand on Thor's knee. "I miss him too, but he's at least in a better place." Thor only staid quiet. "I bet you he's playing with all his lobster friends in lobster paradise."

"Oh, the way his little beady eyes stared into your soul... I-I just..." Thor's lip trembled. "I miss him so much!" He whined.

"Don't cry, Thor. I sure he'll-" Bruce stopped when he felt Tony swerve the car a little. "Tony, do you mind?"

"Sorry." Tony said. He looked up at the windshield. "This dumb bird pooped on the windshield." Tony said, turning on the windshield wipers.

"And when he pinched me. Gods, he was just the sweetest lobster I had ever met." Thor said.

"There, there." Stephen said, rubbing his back.

The car swerved more.

"Tony, seriously. Stop." Bruce said. "It's just a dumb bird."

"He's purposely pooping on the windshield." Tony said, looking up. He served the car again.

"Tony!" Bruce slapped him on the arm.

"Hey-"

Thud

Everyone stopped and looked up at the roof of the Jeep.

"What was that?" Stephen asked.

"Tony probably made one of the ropes that was holding the chairs in place snap." Bruce said.

"Tony, seriously?" Stephen asked.

"Hey. It wasn't my fault." Tony said. "That dumb bird-"

Thor stood up and opened the small window on the roof of the car. He looked around. A huge smile spread across his lips.

"You could've ignored the bird." Bruce said.

"Quit distracting me!" Tony said, looking at Bruce and at the road.

"Tony, please focus on the road." Stephen said.

"Yeah, you'll kill us all." Bruce said.

"Excuse me, I'm not Thoring this one up." Tony said.

"Did you just use Thor's name as a verb?" Bruce asked.

"Hey, that's not nice." Stephen said.

"Why are you two suddenly attacking me?" Tony asked.

"YES!" Thor suddenly screamed.

Everyone stopped arguing and looked up at him.

"Thor?" Bruce asked.

"Guys look!" Thor suddenly came down. "Look who's back!" Robert was in his hands, holding a seagull leg in one of his pinchers.

"Oh. My. God." Tony's has dropped. "How the hell is that thing still alive?"

"Is that a seagull's leg?" Bruce asked.

"Who cares? Robert's alive!" Thor said, nuzzling the lobster.

Stephen and Bruce looked up through the roof's window.

"Where'd the seagull g-"

"AH!" Tony yelped when something hit the windshield. He slammed on the breaks. Everyone was jerked forward.

"What the hell, Tony?" Bruce asked, rubbing his head.

"Robert? Robert!" Thor looked around. He saw Robert clamped down on his finger. "Oh, thank goodness you're okay. I wasn't about to lose you again." He cuddled Robert.

"I'm okay...just in case anyone cares." Stephen said.

"What did we hit?" Bruce asked.

Everyone looked on the hood of the car. On it, laid a dead seagull.

"Could that be?" Tony asked.

Everyone looked back at Robert, who was still holding the seagull leg, then back at the dead seagull on the hood. It was missing a leg.

"Oh my god." Tony said before letting his head fall on the steering wheel and blaring the horn.

"I knew you'd come back." Thor told Robert. "He wasn't ready to go." He kissed the lobster.

Bruce's phone rang. He answered. "Hello?" Steve's voice came over the phone.

"Are you guys okay? I saw Tony slam on the breaks, and now I hear the horn going off. We're turning around to check you."

"We're fine..." Bruce looked at everyone. "Tony just hit a seagull." He said.

"He hit a what?!" Suddenly Bucky came over the phone.

"Here. Let me." Tony said to Bruce.

"Hold on. I'm passing you to Tony." Bruce said, handing Tony the phone.

Tony looked at Bruce and ended the call. He smiled at Bruce. "Let's get back on the road, okay?"
