Butterfly Kisses
WHAT DID I SEE?
The sea breeze carries scents of rose petals on cherished gifts,
soft fluttering wings beneath my ribs,
you gave me butterflies and then you fluttered by,
leaving water drop kisses beneath thunderstorm skies,
and dripping blood red heartbreak in your wake,
walking away,
at the throw of the bouquet.
Secrets whispered on the breeze,
of sea salt waters turning to the blackest symphonies.
WHAT DID I SEE?
Dripping salted waters heal,
where butterfly kisses were the medicine of old,
the only cure left for broken wings now,
is threading the fibres all alone
with a singular little caterpillar
remembering dreams of flight,
on its own.
