Peace

Diana stared in wonder around her.

A large metal room, almost like a box, loomed around her. It was dark, the only light came from the door open behind him, every sound echoed, including Diana's steps and the steps of her three companions.

"Hello?" She called out brashly. "Please, please come out! We know you are here. Help us end this war. You must know about it, space and time will be torn apart by it and only you can stop it!" Diana begged.

We cannot help you.

Diana could not say where the noise came from, when asked later, she had said that the only place it could have come from was in their very hearts. As soon as it spoke, a ball of light, brighter than a dozen suns, yet easy to look upon, appeared at the opposite end of the room.

As it spoke, a feeling she had never felt before spread through her body. It was beautiful, yet sad, Diana felt her throat choke up, trying not to cry.

"Why not." She whispered, not wanting to destroy the beautiful feeling inside of her. Yet she was sinking in despair because they wouldn't help them and the war would go on forever. Endless destruction and fear and anger....

Lucas murmured quickly, "We need you. We don't know how to stop the war. Only you can help us." He almost seemed scared of his own voice, terrified that he had done something wrong in talking to this wonderful being.

It is not our place to infer. Only you can help yourself. They insisted.

"Please. The galaxies will tear themselves apart." Shyanne begged. "We can't stop it. We are not powerful enough."

You do not need power. Power will only bring more chaos.

"Then how can we help. The council was sure you would help us, so they sent a team to ask you. But if you will not help us, we are doomed." Vandel insisted.

Suddenly the voice boomed throughout the whole room, powerful enough that it shook through their very souls.

You are not doomed. The council chose well. We are not destined to stop the war, you, you four are. There is no other way that peace can be brought.

Diana paled. "We are not strong enough." She began crying. "You do not know how much we have been through to find you. Please, just-"

I know exactly what you went through. The voice said coldly. And we still will not help end the war.

The feeling of peace left Diana and she collapsed onto the ground. "I don't know what to do! I still need help if we are to end the war." She wailed.

The other three silently nodded with tears streaming down their faces.

I cannot help end the war, but I can help you. It said gently.

"I don't understand." Shyanne whimpered.

Shyanne, my child, step forward.

Slowly Shyanne walked up to the light. A figure, made of light stepped out of it. It was even brighter than the light, so bright that Diana had to shade her eye's.

Shyanne gasped and hugged the thing of light. "Mother!" She cried out.

I appear to be your mother, and in a way I am. But when I died I became one every other being. I am no longer completely your mother.

Shyanne nodded and stepped back.

The being lifted one arm and pressed three fingers to her forehead.

Shyanne, I give you knowledge, that when the time comes you may guide your friends when they need it.

She nodded and walked back to her original place. Her face was filled with newfound confidence.

Lucas, my son, please step forward.

Lucas nervously walked up to the figure. When he was about halfway he stopped and gasped.

"D-d-d-dad?" He cried out. He ran towards the figure, then stopped right in front of it. "Wait, n-n-no. It's like with Shyanne huh? Y-y-y-you're not my dad, though you kind of are."

The Figure of light nodded.

You learn quickly.

It placed it's hand on Lucas's shoulder.

Lucas, I give you bravery, that you will be brave enough to do that right thing when the time comes.

Lucas slowly breathed out and whispered,

"Thank you."

He then stepped back and walked behind Diana.

Vandel, my son. Come to me.

Vandel paled until he was white and slowly walked forward. As soon as he was within a meter of the light figure he cried out and started sobbing.

"Leisel I'm so sorry it was an accident! I'm so sorry I didn't mean to kill you!" He choked on his own breath and knelt at the figures feet.

"Please......." He begged.

Diana knew that Vandel had killed his three year old sister at age six. He had simply been playing with his fathers gun and had accidentally set it off.

Diana doubted he had ever forgiven himself.

"Please. I'm so sorry. So sorry. So sorry." He whispered over and over again.

The Figure pulled him up and and touched his cheek gently while he sobbed and whispered apologies over and over again.

I give you forgiveness. It said plainly.

He nodded and walked away. Still crying, but at last he seemed at peace with himself.

Diana, my daughter, come forward.

Diana gulped and stepped up to the figure. As soon as she got close to it, it transformed into the only person she thought she would never see again.

"Edward....." She managed to gasp.

Her husband smiled at her sadly.

Diana. He said quietly. Then he placed his hand over her heart.

I give you love Diana.

Feelings of love exploded within Diana. She choked on the beauty of it all, she suddenly understood what this great being felt for each person.

She finally understood that the being wanted to help, but it couldn't. It would only become worse, despite this being's power for the protection of all it must not infer.

Edward removed his hand and became the figure of light again.

Diana trembled with pain. For she felt pain for every person suffering because she loved them, yet she felt happy. For she finally understood everything, it seemed like.

No other feeling could compare to this.

"Thank you." She began sobbing and she trembled more and more. "Thank you."

Lucas, Shyanna, Vandel, please come forward. The figure asked.

They all stepped forward beside Diana.

The figure then hugged each and everyone of them. As it hugged Diana, she felt it whisper her something that only she could hear.

Peace my child.

The figure stepped back and dissolved into little particles of light, it slowly drifted to them, then entered into their bodies, filling them with it's hope and joy.

The cold metal room around them disappeared and was replaced by their ship, each one of them heard one final word from the light.

Peace.
