Carnival Gifts [Paper x OJ]
Requested.
Plot: OJ and Paper, while going to a carnival (NOT A DATE), try doing something for the other
Fluff.
About the image above: The one on the right is Paper's "night gown clown" costume, which is actually a Pierrot clown, while the one on the left, which IS NOT used or mentioned in this story, is supposed to be OJ is a clown costume, which is actually a Harlequin clown costume.
It was not a date, which OJ had made very clear, hoping to not confuse and/or disappoint Paper, who had already known that it was not a date but liked the reassurance from OJ. Paper had dressed in a somewhat weird costume that looked like he was planning to fall asleep, but what he was actually doing was trying to dress like a clown.
Long story (from five years ago) short, Pickle and Knife never had the heart to tell him that the costume Paper would wear while pretending to be a clown, which is the one mentioned above, wasn't even close to looking like a clown. OJ didn't have the heart either, especially considering OJ was Paper's boyfriend.
Pickle found the "night gown clown", as the three called it (privately), interesting and cute, so did OJ and Knife. Even though Pickle was dating Knife and Knife was dating Pickle, they still found almost everything and anything Paper did cute.
So, every couple of months, Paper would dress up as the clown if something clown or carnival related was happening, or if it was April Fools. Even then, nobody, not even Nickel or Trophy, got the courage to tell him what a clown costume actually looked like.
So, during this "not a date date", Paper was wearing the clown costume and OJ was wearing some dark purple and dark gray makeup, to match Paper's somewhat ridiculous "clown" costume.
They decided to go to a somewhat crowded carnival, where nobody would notice them or Paper's costume, which OJ was hoping nobody would make fun of or point out, as Paper was somewhat fragile, physically and emotionally.
After a couple minutes of walking around the carnival, which OJ had been going to since he was young child, which is were he might Paper, which is when their friendship started, which is where they went on their first date, they found something that interested them.
It had taken them several minutes to find what they were looking for due to the carnival managers constantly changing the design of the carnival around every six to twelve months, maybe a year and a half if money was tight.
They had arrived at a special area that had a silent auction on one side and a special bingo game on the other. Paper went to the silent auction, as he saw some cheap and interesting items that he could add to either the hotel, OJ's office, or their shared bedroom. OJ went to the special bingo game in an attempt to win several cute and cuddly items (a big teddy bear, duck plushie, and some generic pajamas) for Paper.
OJ felt a little bad about what he was doing, considering the many people with either young children or people in the hospital who wanted those gifts, but he decided to ignore those people to prevent his guilt from spreading and growing in his head.
Eventually, after several rounds, Paper had moved on from the silent auction to another activity that was nearby, as the silent auction results were happening in thirty minutes and Paper couldn't find OJ at the bingo area.
OJ was still fighting hard to win those prizes, as there were seven copies of those items, meaning seven people could win (duhhh). Currently, three people had already won, which shrunk the crowd from 30 people to 10 people.
It was a closed bingo match, so OJ had somewhat high odds (10% chance), and had an even higher chance when slowly, but surely, only him and one other man was left, with two more prizes left.
The announcer decided to give one to each of them, meaning that OJ had "won". OJ gladly took the items and went to go back to the car they drove in, which took about three minutes to get to. Once OJ did get to it, he quickly shoved the items in the backseat, out of view from any mirrors or the passenger's seat.
OJ then decided to walk around the carnival, letting Paper know he was okay and where he was going. Paper responded by doing the exact same, and told OJ about what he did. OJ responded by telling Paper what he did, before ending the conversation and continuing to walk.
After a couple of minutes, OJ was able to find even more cuddly items, which were being sold and not auctioned or set up as a prize. He speed walk to the stand and bought the ones he thought Paper would enjoy the most.
I must add, OJ and Paper are high middle class (about $100k to $300k a year, which I think is high middle class (no, I'm not rich)), so they weren't worried about the money they were spending, but Paper was still cautious.
OJ went back to the car to shove those cuddly items in the trunk, as there was no more room in the backseat to add them (without Paper seeing), which is when OJ facepalmed and moved the other bag to the trunk as well, thinking that Paper would shove his items in the backseat and see it when they walked back to the car.
Paper, at this time, went back to the silent auction just as it was ending, as he accidentally spent 45 minutes doing other things, only to find out he won almost every single item he bid on. Paper squealed quietly, as he had never gotten so lucky.
Paper grabbed the items and speed walked back to the car he arrived in, only to see OJ quickly closing the trunk and walking towards him. OJ helped Paper, who didn't explain what was in the bag, with the bag by putting it in the backseat while Paper got in the passenger's seat.
I must add, OJ has a drivers license while Paper doesn't, as Paper is afraid of driving, due to drunk driving stories he overheard as a child (constantly, might I add).
They were only ten minutes away from Hotel OJ, so when they got back, it was only nine in the evening, which was basically the start of the evening to them (the "start of the evening" is 5 in the evening). They had only been out for an hour and fifty minutes.
Paper went to take his bag inside while OJ sneakily took the two bags and shoved them in his office, behind his desk, through the office window, before quickly closing the window and running inside.
OJ took a second to catch his breath before walking back inside, seeing only Paper in the living room, as everyone was either asleep, in their rooms, or somewhere not in relation to the hotel.
They went to bed shortly afterwards.
Paper woke up to see several new cuddly things in the room and a note next to him. Paper grabbed it and read it. It said,
"Dear Paper,
Thanks for the new items, which you got at the carnival, obviously. I know you haven't set them up yet as you didn't have time to, but I saw the bag, which you hid behind a plant. The new cuddly items you see around you are the items I won in the carnival, which I got just for you.
Enjoy yourself, if you want to.
Love,
OJ"
