For the next two weeks, Zuma stayed in Ryder's bed. Every night, Ryder would come in and sleep with him, but during the day, outside of when Charm would come in to check on Zuma's neck, he was often alone and bored. Zuma soon became sick of just lying in bed all day and since Charm wasn't there, he decided to get up and pay his friends a little visit. 

At first, it was very painful to even move a paw, but since Zuma really wanted to leave at least the bed, he forced himself up and got off. When he started to walk slowly out of the dark room, he paused in front of a mirror. He saw a chocolate Labrador retriever with bright green eyes and a brace around his neck staring back at him. He sighed and glanced to the side of his reflection. He suddenly gasped. 

He saw a young female chocolate Labrador retriever with green eyes as bright as Zuma's, standing right next to him. Zuma's eyes widened as his pulse began to increase at an extremely fast rate. He choked when he swallowed. "Elena..."

Visions of what happened that horrible night began to fly across his eyes. Tears began to fill Zuma's eyes, but he blinked them away. All those other times he had let his tears come out like waterfalls, he had hoped the tears would wash the memory away, but he knew it would  always stay with him forever. This isn't real. This isn't real. It's just my imagination. Then the realization hit him like a rock. The other time I saw Elena was in a nightmare. THIS isn't a nightmare though. This is real. He lowered his head down.

At first there was silence.

Then Elena said, "I know it wasn't your fault and I never thought it was. You're my big brother for goodness sake."

Zuma picked his head up to look at her, his neck still sore.

"That nightmare you had was just a nightmare, it wasn't true. I would never blame what that burglar did on you."

Zuma felt tears come to his eyes when she said that. He kissed her on the head. "I love you sis, I miss you," Zuma whispered. 

"I love you too," Elena said back. She then hugged Zuma, pushing her head into Zuma's shoulder crying. "Good bye Zuma."

Suddenly everything turned bright white blinding Zuma for about 10 seconds. When he was able to see again, Elena was no longer there hugging Zuma and he felt crushed. She was gone. He didn't do anything after that except stare at the mirror.
