Bobcat
Chase looked over at the blind Zuma who was moving unsteadily behind him. The sand underneath them flew upwards every time they took a step. Chase's paw accidentally kicked some sand into Zuma's face.
*cough*
"He he sorry, Zuma," Chase said.
"It's okay."
*growl*
"Gee Zuma, I said sorry. You don't need to growl like that."
"That wasn't me Chase."
Chase looked over his shoulder and stopped dead in his tracks as his jaw dropped to the floor. Zuma who wasn't conscious that Chase stopped abruptly, ended up walking right into him. "What the heck, Chase?"
"Ssh... shut up Zuma. Walk toward me, quickly," Chase whispered as he began to back away.
"Yeah, suwe. I could EASILY do that. Just one small thing. I can't see!" Zuma said annoyed.
The bobcat behind Zuma suddenly snapped his jaw and hissed. Zuma felt the bobcat behind him and screamed. He ran as soon as the bobcat almost pounced on him.
"Zuma! Quick! Come over here!" Chase said. Zuma followed his voice and ran toward the general direction he heard it coming from. The bobcat was close behind him. Zuma could feel the bobcat's breath on his back while he ran blindly.
"Do something Chase!" Zuma yelled. The bobcat opened its mouth about to bite Zuma's tail when Chase came and kicked it in the face.
The bobcat hit the floor hard and blood poured out of its mouth. The bobcat suddenly shot right back up again and ran toward Chase head-on. "Uh oh," Chase said quietly.
Zuma suddenly ran around in random directions with his pup pack activated. The propellers on his pup pack spinning crazily. "Chase! Move so you don't get hit!" Chase moved and barely missed the propellers, but the bobcat didn't. Zuma felt the fast, violently-moving propellers hitting the bobcat, but felt no sympathy for it even when it yelped out. Then, the bobcat began to punch Zuma. "Chase! Use youw pup pack!" Zuma yelled. "Huwwy!"
"Ruff ruff net!" Chase said.
Zuma and the bobcat still fought with each other without stopping. Then, the net fell over him and the bobcat.
"Get it off get it off get it off get it off!" Zuma screamed. Zuma began to panic when he felt like the net was closing in on him and the bobcat. Still, underneath the net, the vicious bobcat kept punching Zuma. Zuma's nose began to pour with blood nonstop. The bobcat even scratched Zuma on his back. Dripping red crooked lines appeared on his back because of the bobcat's terrible uncut nails. Zuma kept punching in random directions because he was still blind from the paint and couldn't see what he was doing. He was so scared, he almost had a panic attack.
"Ruff ruff! Net away!" The net retracted. "I'm so sorry Zuma!"
"It's okay. Let's just take down this... what are we even fighting?" Zuma was fighting something and didn't even know what it was because he couldn't see.
"A bobcat! We're fighting a bobcat!" Chase answered. Suddenly, he gasped. "Zuma! Look out!"
"Yeah, I wish I COULD Chase! But I can't see a th-" Before Zuma could finish what he was saying, the bobcat picked him up by his neck with his pointy teeth. Zuma winced in pain as blood came out of his neck and tears filled his eyes. He blinked his tears away though when the bobcat threw him about ten feet away.
Chase's eyes widened at what he just witnessed.
"Ruff ruff net!" He yelled without thinking twice. Since Zuma was quite a few feet away, the bobcat got caught in the net WITHOUT Zuma this time.
The bobcat growled and howled to get out of the net, but Chase did nothing. He ran over to Zuma who was having trouble breathing.
The bite in his neck was pretty deep and blood wouldn't stop coming out. When Zuma tried to breathe, blood bubbles filled his throat.
With his paint-covered eyes, Zuma looked up into the general direction Chase's eyes were, still seeing darkness. He shook his head faintly. "Zuma. You have to stay strong. You can make it through this. We just need to get help. That's all."
Zuma's blinking began to slow. Tears filled his eyes as his lip began to quiver. "It's okay it's okay. If you need to rest, you can rest. You can close your eyes and sleep if you want. Just be sure to open them later."
"It huwts," Zuma whispered. It was so quiet, Chase barely heard.
"Ssh ssh... I know I know," Chase said gently while tears filled his eyes. He tried to stay strong, but seeing Zuma who was so young bleeding to death, broke his strong heart. Chase blinked as tears fell softly down to Zuma's face and the earth "It's okay. It's okay..."
The bobcat's howl was heard nearby as Zuma and Chase sat in the sand quietly.
