(S-1) Chapter 6 "Beach Pups"

(Disclaimer: Mature Language)

Commotion was strewn about the main building that a certain Great Dane was in, as the dog spotted the door that led to the man he always reported to. Nervousness led down the spine of the dog, as he moved forward he was stopped by a fellow Golden Retriever.

"Hey, Ajax, got a second?" The Retriever asked.

"Not now..." Ajax answered.

The Retriever sighed out of slight frustration. "It's always 'not now' with you, Ajax."

"And do you know why? I have to report to the boss about something important, Mavis." Ajax defended.

"You say that all the time, what can be so important this time?" Mavis asked.

"That's none of your damn business!" Ajax yelled.

The Retriever backed up, being frightened by the Great Dane.

"O-ok! J-just relax dude!" Mavis defused.

The Dane sighed and walked away, leaving the Retriever alone.

Ajax reached the door and knocked, receiving an answer within a short time.

"Come in." The voice called out.

Ajax walked in the room, seeing the man sitting near a counter, having a drink.

"Hello, Ajax, drink?" The man offered.

"No, sir." Ajax replied as he walked to the man.

"I take it you have some good news for me?" The man asked.

"Well, yes and no sir. The good news is that I found the Shepherd and the pendant, the bad news is that I don't have it with me." Ajax nervously said.

"I asked for some good news Ajax." The man finished his drink as he was getting impatient.

"I understand that sir, but if you just—." Ajax's paw was impaled and stuck to the bar counter. "Ahh! Fuck!!" Ajax cried out in pain.

"There is no 'if' Ajax, I want the pendant! You had one simple job and you fucked it up!" The man yelled.

"Sir, I would've had the pendant but he said he was going to bring it here personally!" Ajax explained.

The man removed the knife from the Dane's paw.

"Why didn't you just take the pendant and be done with him?" The man asked.

"I would've caused a ruckus sir, I kept things quiet!" Ajax answered.

The man stood up from the stool as Ajax held his paw.

"Chase is a number of things, a liar isn't one of them, if you say he'll come here on his own accord, then so be it." The man looked back at Ajax. "Go to Cody, he'll patch you up."

Ajax hopped off the stool, stumbling a little and reached the door.

"Oh and Ajax?" The man called out.

"Yes sir?" Ajax answered.

"Don't disappoint me again or next time it'll be your throat."

Laughter filled the air as the sun shined down on the culprits behind it.

It was Ryder and the pups, they recently arrived at the beach and decided to spend some time there.

"Rubble! Over here!" Rocky yelled out as he saw Rubble bounce the ball to him, allowing him to pass it over the net.

It was pointless, Marshall hit the ball, giving it more air.

"Skye! Now!" Chase got in position, allowing himself to be a boost up for Skye.

Skye ran towards the pup and as the Shepherd felt the pup on his back, he launched her up a decent height before seeing her hit the ball perfectly and making them win the game.

"Yeah! That's what I'm talking about!" Chase cheered as he caught Skye on his back.

"Nice job, Skye!" Marshall cheered along.

"Those two are too good as a team." Rocky laughed.

"Yeah, they definitely are. You pups wanna rematch with them? Im feeling confident this time." Zuma remarked.

"The last time you said that, we were playing Pup Pup Boogie, Skye beat you and your high score in the same match!" Rocky snickered as did Rubble.

"Hey! I wasn't feeling good that day!" Zuma excused.

"Oh, I bet." Rocky smiled.

The Labrador sighed at the sarcastic remark from the mix.

"So is that a yes or a no to a rematch?" Zuma asked.

"I don't know, go ask them." Rocky shrugged.

"Hey! You three wanna do another match!" Zuma yelled out for the other three to hear.

"No! Skye and I are going for a walk around the beach, probably when we get back, ok?" Chase yelled out in response.

"Alright! Well, I guess it's just us three." Zuma said as he looked back at Rocky and Rubble.

"What now?" Rubble asked.

"You wanna go surf boarding?" Zuma suggested.

"I would love to but what about Rocky?" Rubble asked.

"Ah don't worry about it, you know I don't like water, I'll just watch." Rocky answered.

"I guess it's settled, come on Rubble!" Zuma led on.

The beach was mostly quiet as the two pups walked along the shore, feeling the water hit their paws from time to time.

"This is so relaxing." Skye sighed.

"Especially when you have someone special by your side." Chase said as he smiled at the Cockapoo.

"Oh, Chase." Skye replied as she nuzzled the pup. "I'm so happy we're spending time together, it's been a while since we've done something like this."

"Yeah, I know. All these emergencies kinda ran us dry, don't you think? It's about time we caught a break." Chase said.

"You're telling me, that last emergency wasn't too bad, except for...you know." Skye murmured.

"Yeah, I know." Chase agreed. "Let's be grateful that it's over and I can spend more time with you!" Chase picked up the Cockapoo and got the small pup on his back.

"Woah! Chase? What're you doing?" Skye asked.

"You ready for a ride back to the pups?" He asked, dodging the question.

"I mean, I guess I'm—." Skye was cut off.

"Alright, let's go!" Chase immediately ran at full speed with Skye on his back.

Skye was happy to see this side of Chase, a happy, more laid out version instead of the tough, serious pup she's known for some time.

But something just didn't feel right with the Cockapoo, she had a faint feeling of something, but the pup just couldn't get her paw on it.

The pup decided to brush it off and enjoy the time she had with Chase and the rest.

The two pups regrouped with Ryder and the pups after some time, sharing some laughs along the way as the Cockapoo hopped off the Shepherd's back.

"Hey you two, where'd you go?" Ryder asked.

"Oh, just went for a walk, talked about how relaxing it is to finally have a break from the emergencies and he gave me a ride back." Skye answered.

"Yeah, thank goodness for these breaks." Marshall smiled.

The pups enjoyed the sunny view of the sea, sticking together as a team like they always have been.

"Hey Ryder?" Chase called out.

"Yeah? What's is it buddy?" Ryder asked.

"You think Captain Turbot will give us a ride around in his boat? Would be a nice way to end the day." Chase suggested.

"What do you mean? We still have a lot of daylight left." Marshall answered.

"Yeah but it would be nice to just see the sea, you know?" Chase stated.

"He does have a point." Zuma sided.

"Yeah, I don't see why not. I'll call him up to see if he's available." Ryder said as he pulled out his pup pad to call Captain Turbot. After some time, the pups heard the familiar friendly captain through the pup pad.

"Hey, Ryder! What can I help you with?" Turbot asked in a friendly tone.

"Hey, Captain Turbot, the pups were wondering if you can ride us around in your boat for a while?" Ryder replied.

"Oh sure thing! I was actually on my way back, you should be able to see me not too far! I'll be there in a bit!" Captain Turbot agreed as he hung up.

Ryder placed his pup pad back in his pocket.

"Well, he agreed pups, we should see him in a bit, just rest up until he gets here." Ryder stated.

After what seemed like forever, Captain Turbot finally reached Ryder and the pups in his boat. It wasn't the best, but to the pups, it was like a home for the water.

"So where to pups?" Captain Turbot flicked his hat.

"Just around, the pups want to admire the sea before we head back to the Lookout." Ryder answered.

"You got it! Away we go!" Captain Turbot pointed as they took off for a ride around the water.

There was silence after some time, not awkward silence or anything like that, the pups gathered together and looked at the beautiful sun was beginning to set, leaving a orange hue in the sky for everyone to admire.

Skye leaned up against Chase once again but this time had Ryder and rest behind them to admire the view together.

"Here's to many more adventures..." Chase broke the silence.

Skye smiled and began to say something that the pups hopefully haven't forgotten about.

"In dark of night, in light of day..." Skye trailed off.

"We, the PAW Patrol will serve Adventure Bay..." Chase continued.

"From runaway trains..." Rocky passed on.

"To stranded whales..." Zuma looked at Rubble.

"We'll rush to the rescue with wagging tails." Rubble passed to Marshall.

"If danger is near, just give a yelp!" Marshall called out.

"The PAW Patrol is here to help!" Ryder and the pups all said in unison.

The pups shared some laughs.

"Can't believe we still remember that." Rocky said as he and Zuma leaned on the edge of the boat.

"It's something we live by, something we fight for." Chase stated.

"Don't get all sentimental on me." Ryder added as he petted the pup.

"You know me." Chase smiled.

"Cant believe it's been that long though." Marshall said.

"Time flies when you dedicate yourself to saving people." Chase replied.

"Guess you're right." Marshall nodded.

Ryder and the pups enjoyed the peaceful ride around but after some time Captain Turbot lead the pups back to shore.

The pups got out one by one and thanked the Captain, waving goodbye as he drove away.

"Well, that was a good time, wasn't it pups?" Ryder asked as he and the pups headed to their rigs.

"You bet, Ryder." Skye replied.

"Alright, let's head back home, you pups can talk about it more when we get there." Ryder stated as he and the pups got in their rigs and headed back to the Lookout.

Ryder and the pups made it back to the Lookout not long after, the pups parked their rigs and transformed them back into their pup houses, one by one, they all headed into the Lookout for the night.

Chase, on the other hand, was alone, telling the pups that he'll join them in a bit. The Shepherd walked in his pup house and looked at his pendant, giving a deep sigh as he grabbed it, after some time looking at the pendant, the pup heard a voice call to him.

"You know my dear pup? I wasn't expecting you to run from your past like this, like nothing happened at all." It was the mysterious pup that Chase kept encountering, he doesn't know how but he always seems to show up when the Shepherd is on his own.

Chase placed the pendant back down and walked out of pup house, ignoring the formally dressed pup.

"You can't run away from this, my Shepherd friend, you tried and look where it got you." The pup smiled.

Chase stopped in his tracks and turned his head.

"Who said I was running?"
