Chase's P.O.V

"What'll it be Chase?" Rose asks me. This is a big decision for me. I know what I want, but I'm having second thoughts. I mean, if I go back, I'll end up here anyways. But staying here would break Ryder and my family's heart! I look around. The flowing green grasses, the bright blue sky. The sky. Skye! I can't leave her! I have to be there with her. I will not leave her. I don't care if I'm supposed to die, because I won't. I refuse to die. I will live until Skye leaves, and then I can go.

"I'm sorry Rose."

"What?"

"I choose to stay with my family, and my friends. Don't worry Rose, I'll be here soon enough. But for now, I'm going to live the life I was made to live."

"I see. I'll miss you Chase." She says as she throws her paws around my neck.

"I'll miss you too Rose. Tell Mom and Dad I said hi."

"I wont have to." She points her nose at the staircase. At the top my parents sit together waving at me.

"Bye Chase!" Their voices carry down into the field. I look around. Rose climbs up the staircase and walks with my parents into the light. Everything is black now. I hear faint voices that grow more distinct. I open my eyes again and see my family and friends surround me. I'm greeted by hugs and tears of joy. 

"Chase!"

"Hi Skye!" She curls up next to me resting her head on my shoulder.

"I missed you."

"I missed you too." 

"Did you see anything while you were in the coma?"

"I did."

"Tell me."

"We'll leave you two alone." Ryder says walking out.

"Tell me."

"There was a big field. And you and I were running and playing there. We were pups again. But then you disappeared. And a big white staircase was there. My sister was there and my parents to. Rose told me I was in a coma, and it was my choice to live or not. I knew I wanted to stay with you, but each time I looked at my sister I felt a little drawn away. I looked at the sky and it reminded me of you. And then I woke up."

"You chose me over your family?"

"You're my family Skye. I made the decision to live with you. I want to have what my parents had. We'll go together. I'm going to live with you until it's time, then I'll let myself go."

"Chase, how can you make that decision? We can't control when we go."

"Rose told me I could make that decision."

"Chase, she gave you a choice to die or come back with us. That didn't mean you choose when you die."

"Love is the strongest power in the universe."

"I agree."

"I love you Skye."

"I love you too Chase. Get some rest now, you need to get a little stronger before we go home."

"Will you stay?"

"I never left your side, and I never will. I'll always be with you, no matter where we are." She licks my cheek, and rests her head back on my shoulder. I curl up next to her and fall asleep.
