Chapter Eighty (Ryan Peavey, the Ace of Spades)
Ryan's POV
"Mr. Peavey, the court finds no sympathy for your recent activities," the stout middle-aged judge (who reminds me of Jabba the Hut). "And after learning of what you and the late Theo Blake have done, the court holds you in contempt in the crimes."
Sure enough, I was currently being arraigned one day after my arrest. Of course, no one from my family or at school came to see me. I had a feeling that no one would want to see me after the shootout and trying to discredit Demario, especially with me outing Demario being a love child. And I'll even admit that the move was a bit of a low blow to my lost boy. Even so, it wouldn't hurt someone to at least come by and show some love towards me.
"Your Honor," the rail-thin female DA (who was a human version of a surgeon-botched rooster with a bad haircut) said. "We would like to inform you that the Lomax and Kendricks families alongside those regarding the victims have sent in affidavits and statements that pertain to the crimes listed."
She handed the portly bailiff a folder of documents which was given to the judge who continued to shoot me glares full of contempt.
Fucking hell, I thought to myself. The moment that I do find a way to get out of here, I was going to make sure that Demario AND Oliver wouldn't dare refuse me.
The arraignment went on for twenty more minutes as various witnesses from school and all came forward and spoke against me before a list of proceedings came forward. The attorney didn't help much but offer marginal support, even saying that I was just a misguided kid who was lost in the madness. Unfortunately, that only made things worse for me when my attorney was reminded of Demario's past and all the trials he faced.
At the end, I was soon remanded back into the prison custody with no chance of bond since Ma and Pa didn't want me in their homes. "Young man, you ought to have known better than to go after someone who didn't want to be caught up in the madness," the judged said brutally, his glare trained on me. "If you do get off by some technicality or whatnot, then may God have mercy on your soul since you're a faithless heathen with no values."
I was soon led out of the courtroom, the guards forcibly hurrying me along as we navigated through the halls and out the door where a waiting prison van was designated to take me to the detention center.
I couldn't believe this. I was going to be tried as an adult and was likely going to grow old, if I was indeed convicted when the trial (which was set after New Year's Day) brought in a guilty verdict. But I wasn't going to be a sitting duck and wait for that to happen.
And when the prison van stopped at a nearby gas station so the guards could grab a bite to eat before getting back on the road...I knew that I had an idea, a dangerous and reckless idea.
Enjoy what freedom you have left, Demario Bader. I have BIG plans for you!
Oh...FUCK! Ryan's planning something nasty that will involve Demario! And how it will go down is one straight out of a soap opera!
But coming up next, Demario's circle of foster families and allies decide to give Demario a special holiday gift that truly defines the meaning of family bonding! With the last ten chapters of this story leading to the end, you can best believe that the end is going to be MEMORABLE! Stick around, folks! You can't go wrong!
