Imagine #14: Once Upon A Time (Part 1)
{Suggested by Patrick_AtThe_Disco. Two words: mermaids and fairy tales. Nuff said. Enjoy!}
*Patrick's P.O.V.*
The atmosphere in this place never changed and going back here give me this strong nostalgic feeling.
I can smell the sea and hear the waves which still calms me, I'm so glad I agree to come here. I'm currently at this special beach in my hometown, it's special because I have lived around it with my grandparents 15 years ago. It felt so long ago, and now I'm finally back and honestly almost nothing has changed.
The sea is still clear, the atmosphere is relaxing, and the most beautiful part is this wasn't a beach with many people since it's considered as a hidden gem, only those who love this city would know this place.
I came back here because I was invited to perform at a beach party and the moment I heard it was here, I immediately became excited and agreed to come. It's also a perfect timing since the band in on a break and I really want to take a vacation.
Another thing why I became so excited to come back is that I remember this girl that I always hear in here before. I actually have never seen this girl I'm talking about, but I always hear her singing when I was by the seashore. It was a beautiful voice and it's so relaxing. I really tried to find her and also asked my grandmother about her, and I couldn't forget what my grandmother used to answer me.
Mermaids. It seems that those kind of entities are popular around here and most believe that they are really existing. Some believe that they were evil creatures, attracting men to the sea with their voices then eating them alive and some see them as goddesses protecting the sea, and the beliefs of my grandmother were the latter.
"It's probably a mermaid, Patrick. Legend says they pick who hears them, looks like you've been chosen by one, darling." I remember my grandmother telling me sweetly and I would just chuckle. I never really believed it fully, but I'm not closing out the possibilities and also, I see them as friendly creatures too.
And now that I'm back here, let's see if what grandmother thought was true.
I was reminiscing all this while standing on the deck of this huge yacht where the party is happening. I just finished performing and chose to go out for a while to get fresh air, and I really like being outside at night. It's currently around 8 pm now, but enough lights are illuminating the area. I can still clearly see the waves of the seas and the surrounding area.
The party continued inside and I stayed here just taking in this familiar view. This is also the time where I always hear that girl's voice...actually, it's just like a hum but it's beautiful. She's actually one of the reasons why I became interested in music.
Soon I realized I remembered the tune and was humming it loudly myself. A smile grew on my face, I really hope I'm able to meet her someday. I stopped humming, but then I continued to hear the tune.
It was the same beautiful voice that I was hearing years before. Out of instincts I just find my way out of the yacht and walked along the shores, literally following the voice. Thankfully, I'm wearing something I can swim with and I just plunged in the sea water and swim around for a while.
Seriously, if the mermaid thing being a vicious creature is the truth. I'm a dead meat here.
I was happy that the tune continued and I swear I'm so close to her now.
"Hey, where are you? I'm literally hearing you around here." I called out, really determined to see who she is.
I continuously swim and look around the water and I'm really beginning to think this is just all happening inside my mind. I smiled to myself and finally deciding to go back to the shore and the moment I turned, I saw a girl few feet away from me...and I'm telling you, she's really stunning.
"H-hi there! Are you the one singing?" I asked while smiling at her. She was just staring at me curiously and I love how innocent looking she is. "Don't worry, I won't do anything bad to you. I'm Patrick, by the way, and I just want to say that you really have a beautiful voice and trust me, I've been hearing you since I was a kid, I'm assuming we had the same age back then too. I lived here before and almost every night heard you, I'm glad I'm finally able to see who you are." I stated excitedly and finally, she smiled shyly and god, how stunning that is.
She just stared at me, probably shy to even speak because she's definitely just speechless there. I was looking at her eyes and it was so beautiful because it's deep sea blue in color, her hair is perfectly long and seriously all of her physical attributes are amazing.
"Patrick?! What are you doing there? It's getting late, come on dude." one of my childhood friend, Matt, shouted while he was by the shore. I looked over to him for just a while and the moment I looked back at the girl, she was not there anymore...
That seriously sent chills to my spine because that impossible to just happen. No one else is in the water and I'm not seeing her now. It's not that I'm scared or anything, the thought of mermaids just came to my mind.
I took a deep breath and swim back to the shore to meet my friend.
"You look a bit shock, what happened?" he asked me and I just smiled.
"Nothing...I just...uh, never mind. Let's go back to the yacht." I told him and we walked back as I take one last glimpse at the spot where I saw her and I know I'm now seeing her silhouette again before she dives into the water once more.
I could have asked a lot of questions right now...who is she? What is she? where did she come from? and so on, but seriously I'm just busy regretting that I didn't even have the chance to get her name...I hope I'll see her again soon.
{Thanks for reading! New mini fic! Hope you enjoy!}
