Chapter 59
Chapter 59
Much to the rest of Fall Out Boy's disappointment, the last Quidditch game of the year was cancelled. Professor McGonagall explained to both the Ravenclaw and Gryffindor teams, who would have played against each other in the final match, that it was simply too dangerous to have that many students outside of the castle at once and that the school did not want to risk having the Death Eaters interrupting their Quidditch match, but that did not stop the members of both teams from being furious over her decision. "I can't believe Professor McGonagall cancelled the match!" Joe exclaimed. "We would have beat Ravenclaw and won the Quidditch Cup if it wasn't for her!"
"Don't be daft, Joe," Andy said. "Ravenclaw definitely would have won. It doesn't matter. Since we beat Slytherin by more than you did, we got the Quidditch Cup for this year."
"That's so unfair," Joe said. "Everyone knows that Gryffindor is better."
"Can you two please stop arguing?" I asked. "You two are friends. There's no use in fighting."
"Alright, alright, but Quidditch is a hell of a feeling though," Joe said.
"I agree wholeheartedly," Andy said. "I wish we could have played each other one last time before we graduate."
"Me too," Joe said, reminding me that most of my friends would be gone in a few weeks. Graduation wasn't that far away, and all my friends, along with being heathens, were also seventh years. They would have to graduate, and I would be moving to Chicago. There was a good chance that I wouldn't see them again after graduation.
I cleared that thought from my mind and walked away as Joe and Andy continued talking. That day was the day of the prison break. In just a few hours, the Flying Car Brigade would fly into Azkaban, and the thought of that terrified me almost as much as teenagers terrified Gerard.
As I climbed up the moving staircase, I reviewed Tyler's plan in my mind. Tyler and Josh, or Blurryface and Spooky Jim, as he referred to them, would operate the flying car. Meanwhile, Mr Sandman, Horseshoe Crab, Donnie Catcher, and I would enter Azkaban itself, locate as many prisoners as possible, and use magic to break them out. Once all of the prisoners were out of their cells, we would send green sparks to signal for the flying car. Alternately, if one of us was to encounter trouble, we would send out red sparks. Assuming the mission was successful, Blurryface would steer the car towards the sparks and assist in loading everyone into the car. We would then return to Hogwarts, where everyone would be safe.
It seemed like a simple plan, but there was so much that could go wrong. We could easily get caught, and nobody knew just how many prisoners there were. I already knew that I would feel horrible if we had to leave someone behind. We needed to find a way to rescue everybody. In short, I was feeling incredibly paranoid over anything and everything that go could go wrong with this plan.
As I was thinking, I managed to walk right into a closet. I pointed my wand at my head. "Episkey," I said, hoping that the healing spell would fix my bruise. I looked up, and saw that the closet door had swung open. A perfect clone of myself was standing in the closet, except he had yellow eyes and a hook instead of a left hand. Dead bodies were sprawled around him, and I recognised each one. Gerard, Tyler, Josh, Joe, and Andy were all clearly dead, but Pete wasn't quite dead yet. He was reaching up towards me, but my clone got to him first. He reached for Pete's throat and used his hook to slice it. Pete immediately collapsed to the ground. All of them were dead, and it was because of me.
It's only a Boggart, I told myself as my heart rate began to increase. "R-Riddikulus!" I exclaimed. My clone's eye colour changed back to blue, and a clown nose appeared on his face. I laughed, and the Boggart disappeared.
"Oi Patrick!" I heard Pete say. I turned around and saw him standing right behind me. "Are you ready to go?"
"Almost," I said. "I think I need a minute or two to recover from that Boggart."
"You have a really terrifying Boggart," Pete said. "I remember when I watched Gerard face a Boggart during his third year, and his Boggart is so lame. It's just a group of teenagers. He's one of the bravest people I know, and the thing he fears most is teenagers."
I shrugged and said, "They could care less, as long as someone'll bleed."
"That's a good point," Pete said. "So are you ready to go?"
I had to think about it for a few minutes. What if I managed to hurt someone? I could never live with myself if I did that. I didn't know who I would live or die for, but I could say that I would never kill. Nevertheless, the thought of entering Azkaban still scared me. I was only a Hufflepuff. Even the Sorting Hat agreed that I was a coward. I took one last look into Pete's beautiful brown eyes, and that gave me the answer I needed. I had to be brave, even if it was only for a little while.
"I think I'm ready," I said.
Pete smiled and took my hand. The two of us went back down the staircase and left the castle. We met up with Tyler, Josh, Andy, and Joe outside of the Forbidden Forest. "Remember, we have to use codenames and wear those ski masks once we get into the Forbidden Forest," Josh reminded us. "We can't risk having the Death Eaters find out who we are."
"Alright, Spooky Jim!" Joe exclaimed, and all of us put on our black ski masks. Then, we found our way to the flying car and went inside. It was time to change the wizarding world like a remix.
