Ride or Die
"This Professor guy needs to be arrested for his crimes. What he's doing is illegal and inhumane." Brunet exclaimed.
Zain rolled his eyes at Brunet's statement, "No, he needs to die, sending him to prison won't do any god for my mom."
Beast was quick to agree with Zain, he nodded his head excessively, "Yes yes, I agree with the small human. Death upon the Professor will greatly satisfy everyone's raging hearts."
Ennim slapped Beast's head and turned to everyone, signing, "What we should be focusing on is getting Medu's powers under control. Learning to use this great power she has can help us free our comrads back in the Division."
She's right. If I'm able to turn this ability on and off, and be able to control its intensity, then I'll be able to get everyone out with ease.
"The only anticipating thing now is time, how long do we have before the Professor sends people after us?" Flight interjected.
Short mumbles came from everyone before they started chattering away, thinking of a way to speed my learning process up.
"Wait! We have Copy!!" Shade exclaimed.
Her loud outburst brought everyone's attention to her. "Copy, how long have you been in the Divison?" She calmly asked.
Copy contemplated before giving her his answer. "Since the very beginning, it's been 63 years." He said mumbling that last part.
He wasn't wrong, Copy may look like a regular young adult in his 20's but he's actually the oldest out of everyone in the Division.
Since his cells duplicate twice as much as a regular human, he's able to look the same after so many years.
"That makes you the most trusted subject of the Professor, and the most knowledgeable of us all. You must have some idea on how to help us."
Copy's facial lines began to become visible as he was about to frown. His mouth opened, "I don't- wait no actually I might have an idea." He said as he changed his mind mid sentence.
He looked around the room before his eyes landed on me. "The purpose of the Professor wanting to use astro energy is to prevent fails. Just by loaning me a very small portion of your power, I've gained immense energy. You could do that to your Unit members, and it'll advance their powers."
I thought back to when I held Copy's hand during that transaction we had. He's right, not only did he get better but I feel much closer to him, like theirs a thread linking our spirits together.
If I'm able to do that with my other comrades, how will it affect them? My powers just made Copy get better, and I don't really see any changes in his powers. So how will my power advance theirs?
From the corner of my eye, I saw Brunet turn to look at me. "I don't think this is a good idea. Janunu, you don't know much about this power that you have. You've only used it once on Copy, what if it worsens the others?" Brunet said worriedly.
Ennim nodded and signed, "I agree with the Solider. Copy was dying, so you're powers may effect us differently since we're well."
That's true. Ughhh my mind is in a haze, I can't think of anything! What can I do? It's 7 against an army, we have little resources and time. Can I even do this?
I gently push Zain off of me and stood up, "Vissi, take us to my bunker, we've stayed here long enough. Everyone grab what you need, we'll be gone for a very long while." I said.
Vissi nodded at my order and quickly opened up a portal. The vast winds from it blew in everyone's face as they one by one went in.
I held Zain's hand and stood next to the seated Brunet, awaiting for him to finish being flabbergasted.
His eyes bulged open and his mouth was held agape. "Get the other kids, Brunet."

After getting into the bunker, I set up a sleeping area for everyone. My bunker was big enough to hold at least 6 people, but I made things manage for us all.
This model is different from the ones I had back in New York. The ones in New York were mainly to store my material, and the one I'm in now is to hide out in.
It had 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, and there was a large open space with a sectional sofa, 4 chairs, and a wall filled with weaponry.
I had Ennim and Shade sleep in one room, while Vissi, Beast, Flight, and Copy slept in another room. Then Brunet and Sugar in another room, whilst my children and I slept in the master room.
We didn't get to finish our conversation from earlier since my mind was blank and for a first time, I felt no hope.
If I'm supposed to be the strongest then why do I feel weak and useless. Will my mission to get the others be a fail? Will I end up back on an operating table again?
If I go back, the Professor will turn me into a machine with absolutely no free will. I'd forget about everything and everyone.
As I laid on my back, staring up at the ceiling, I felt Ant turn in his sleep. He turned facing me and swung his arm on my abdomen.
He snuggled his face into my neck before letting out a soft sigh. My throat became sore as I tried to hold back my tears.
I'd loose them again. It hasn't even been a full week, and I'm already about to loose them again.
We just got together again. My babies can't grow up without me, I need them and they need me.
"Mommy." A small whisper came from my right side. I turned to look at Zain, his eyes met mines and stared into them.
"Why aren't you sleeping?" He softly asked.
I smiled and raised my hand to brush a loose curl off his forehead. "I'm just thinking, don't worry about me. Go to sleep." I whispered to him.
He frowned, "I can't, not when they're trying to take you again."
Turning to look back up at the ceiling I put up my hands and formed a W. "Do you know what your Grandpa would do when he'd have no idea on his next move?"
Zain shook his head no.
I smiled lightly as small pieces of my 16th birthday came puzzling back to me. "We were always forced to move growing up and most times we'd loose people, it was rare when we'd all come out with no harm done to us."
"...On my 16th birthday, we had a block party. There was so much good food and so many people. Lots of dancing and gambling was done outside, while the gossiping, babysitting, and cooking was done inside."
"...The Alphas raided the block about three hours after the party started. Everyone scattered and the Williams were left surrounded by the Alphas. I thought it'd be the end for us and I was accepting my end, while my dad fearfully yet bravely stood before his entire family."
"...In that moment, I knew my dad was out of ideas to get us to safety, that attack was a blind one and he had no back up plan. So he did the unthinkable and shot me with his last bullet."
Zain gasped, "What!" He exclaimed loudly, stirring Ant in his sleep. I chuckled lightly and shushed Zain.
"The shot was just a distraction to get the Alphas's attention off of him and on me. They swiftly brought my dad off his feet and pushed past my other family members to get to me."
"...What they didn't know is that, the bullet just grazed my side. My family made a run for it as I played the helpless victim."
"I remember my dad yelling out, 'Nu! The sun is coming!' That was his signal for me to get up and run. I counted 3 seconds before kicking the nearest Alpha away from me and running away as well."
"...Not even a minute later, the house blew up, killing the few Alpha members."
"A little damage to those you love is better than loosing them completely. When it comes down to getting to safety, always...and I mean always play your part in the game. Ride or die."
"When your Grandpa runs out of ideas, he relies on his family friends to help him." I said as I ended the little story time.
Zain clearly didn't like the story nor the message. He slowly shook his head, "But he shot you, you could've died."
I chuckled, and turned to pat his head, "My dad knew what he was doing. The move was risky but it was to worth it."
I have to play my cards right, and I'm glad I have my Unit and children with me. They're my backbone in all of this.
