Carbon & Copy
After coming out the shower, I wiped the fog off the mirror and took a look at myself. There's no way anyone could recognize me from my old self.
My face is so bony, not only that, but I'm bony in general. I really miss my small curves. All of those days that I spent having to starve myself in order to stay up has caused this.
The Professor is very fond of drugging the food or drinks of his patients. I took caution and chose not to eat, but that just enraged him. He not only tied me down and forced food in my mouth, but he also stuck a tube down my throat often.
The deep dark bags under my eyes were the result of my lack of sleep. The first few nights in Division 7, I was in isolation. Usually, I'd be happy to be away from everyone...but all that was on my mind were my babies.
My babies...Zain and Ant.
They must've been devastated when they heard news of my death. I really didn't expect that to happen. Zain must've thought that I broke my promise, but I didn't. I'm here and I'm coming back to him and his brother.
Hold on- I can go see my babies now...oh my gosh I can go see them!
Quickly, I put on the clothes that the old lady had given to me and exited the bathroom. I walked down the hallway towards the living room with a burst of excitement jolting every step I took.
"Hey! Unfortunately I can't-" My words were cut off after catching the old lady's cat laying dead on the ground.
Staring at the body, all I could think about is run!
"Medu, you seem to be in a hurry." A familiar voice had said to me.
Turning around, I saw the old lady casually playing with a bloody knife as she calmly leaned back against the wall.
Why does she sound different? She sounds manly and very sinisterly. And why did she kill her cat?!
"What are you doing?" I asked nervously.
"The Professor was right, your mindset seems to have reset...that means it'll be much easier for me to bring you back home."
Home? No, I'm not going back to that place. I hate that the Professor calls his Division, home. It's not a place to call home, its hell.
"I'm not going with you." I said, backing up towards the front door.
"Aht Aht, if I were you, I wouldn't try and make a run for it Medu. You're a valuable asset to the professor, it'd be a shame if I brought you in dead." Said the old woman as she got up off the walk and creepily walked towards me.
She dropped the knife that was in her hand and began to do morphing movements. Her arms and neck moved in unthinkable ways, and several severe bone cracking noises came from each inhumane movement that she's done.
What she started doing next freaked me out even more. Her skin sizzled like it was burning, but at the same time I saw new skin growing in its place.
I wanted to run, but I remained in place and watched the horrific scene before me. My heart beat increased by each passing second, feeling helpless against this shifter.
I need all of my fucking memories back! I know for a fact that I'm obviously stronger than him. His words are enough to say so. He was relieved that my mindset was "reset"
That has to mean that I'm stronger, right?!
The person before me finally stopped morphing, then immediately glued his eyes on me. His blonde hair was buzzed, and his ocean eyes had nothing but pure evil swirling within them. There was no doubt that he's one of the people back in Division 7, who clowned my Unit for being weak.
He's the lieutenant of Unit 4, making him and his team members older than mines.
"Carbon" I whispered out after my mind linked his name to his face.
He grinned happily at my ability to recognize him before lunging at me. He was quick, really really quick, but I seemed to be quicker. In a blink of an eye, I caught his arm that was coming towards my face and ripped it off his body.
Huh?!!! I could that?! I can't be that strong!
A loud groaning moan came from Carbon as he held in his yell from the excruciating pain he was in. Impressive, I would be in the floor wailing with tears all in my eyes.
I dropped Carbon's arm on the ground and calmly approached him. He was quick to grab the knife off the ground and use it to defend himself.
"Please...don't hurt me." He whimpered as he backed away from me.
"I won't hurt-"
A sudden urging pain coursed behind me, having me instantly drop to the ground.
"Ahhh!" I yelled out in agony as the sharp pain grew. My screams could be heard from neighbors and passing people. There were no words to describe what i'm feeling.
My breathing increased as I stared down at the ground. What happened to me? Why do I feel so weak? Why am I not fighting back??
I need my memories, all of them
...
"We're a team, remember? We fight to protect one another at all times, no matter what."
I laughed at Beast's honorary statement.
"Beast, you do know that what the Professor had put in me can start world wars? People will come after me the moment they know what I possess. Will we still be a team then?"
Ennim patted my shoulder and signed, "Heck yeah, we will, Medu! Wherever you go, we follow, right Beast?"
"Right, Ennim."
"We're always gonna have your back Medu, the amount of times you've literally carried us off the battlefield shows that you're loyal to us. So we're loyal to you and whatever cause you have."
I smiled reminiscing the times that I carried my whole Unit to safety whenever they'd get injuried during battle. One thing they can know for certain is that I'll always come back for them.
"Thanks, Vissi...thank you to you all. One day we'll all get out of here and you guys can finally meet Zain and Ant. They'll love you." I said happily imagining everyone as one big happy family.
...
My team...I've figured out all of my Unit members! Oh my gosh, I know everything now! What they did and why they did it. Fuck, I even know what to do right now.
Oh Carbon, you should be very very afraid of what I'll do to you. Since it shouldn't take long for me to heal, I'll use this time to toy with them.
My breathing calmed and I relaxed onto the ground, extending my legs and laying my back on the ground. I put my hands behind my head and looked at the person who helped jolt me up.
The pain that I presume, Copy had bestowed onto me, had helped awaken my true mindset.
"Thank you, Copy" I said smiling up at Carbon's brother.
Copy dropped the poison laced knife on the ground and gave a very fearful look to his brother.
Oh if only you didn't stab me Copy.
Carbon and Copy are shifting brothers. One shifts into humans, while the other shifts into animals. This was all a plan to trap me here, Carbon took the form of an old lady and Copy to the form as a cat.
Pretty clever
"I'd like to play a little game." I said smiling to myself since I already knew that I'll win. But it'll be absolute fun, watching these fools run and hide for the sake of their lives.
The brothers's heartbeats increased at the tone of my cold playful voice.
"Copy, run!" I heard Carbon yell in fear to his brother. Oh he knows that I am back. My true self is finally back!
My head slowly turned towards Carbon, "Now why would you say that? I didn't even get a chance to tell you the game." I said, pouting my lips out in sadness.
He started the game too early and that's not fair, I didn't even get to tell them the rules.
Oh well, hide and seek is still about running from the seeker. Either way, I'll still win.
