Bullies

Under the table, my feet began to excessively tap the ground as I anxiously watched Zain walk over to a group of boys.

There were three of them, all taller and very much older than Zain. This isn't going to come out good. I wanna intervene but I could just make things worse.

I'd most likely go overboard and try to kill the kids, it's taking every ounce of my strength right now to keep seated.

"Hey! Why are you messing with my brother?"  Zain yelled as he pushed the middle boy back.

The two side boys backed up a little and started smiling at what's about to prevail before them. "Ayo, Jackson who do you think you are? You've got some nerve putting your hands on me." The middle boy calmly said as he dusted the nonexistent dirt off his chest.

Zain rolled his eyes before launching a punch onto his jaw. His hasty moves left the other two boys flabbergasted. When the fuck did he learn to punch like that? The last I taught him was to control his breathing.

The middle boy fell down onto the ground, before getting back on his feet and throwing a punch to Zain.

Zain dodged it and grabbed his arm, he twisted it hard enough for the little boy to yell out.

By now kids started to surround the 4 children, chanting on "fight! fight! fight!"

"What are you guys doing? Hold him down!" The middle boy yell to his little sidekicks. Both the big boys grabbed onto each of Zain's arms, holding him back as their friend got back up.

The middle boy stood up and wiped his nose of blood from the hit he received earlier.

"Whoever you got protecting you shouldn't have hurt my brother." The middle boy said before kneeing Zain's stomach.

I winced in pain as my baby yelled out. Where are the fucking administrators?!

Zain pulled and thrashed his arms around, trying to get out of the grip of those bullies. Come on baby, find a way out.

"I don't have anyone protecting me." Zain grunted as he held his head low.

The middle boy rolled his eyes, "You do newbie, and whoever it is put my brother in the hospital. You're an enemy to the Red Skins now."

Shit. What have I done? That guy wasn't even hurt that bad, why are they retaliating with such force.

The middle boy leaned down towards Zain, and was about to say something when Zain powerfully bumped his head up, resulting to the middle boy screaming out a loud yell.

That yell finally turned the heads of the adults. People from the cafe rushed outside to see what was going on, and administrators ran outside, pushing pass children to get to the center on the commotion.

A couple of the administrators separated the fight, while the other administrators were telling the bystanding children to return into the school.

Brunet is gonna have yet another stressful night.

~

I stayed in the cafe the whole school day. A little after the fight, I saw Brunet go into the school and so did the parents of the other children.

That one lady I saw earlier was also there, I wonder if Brunet knows that she's a criminal. She should go to jail for having kids in her little gang organization, especially my child.

Not to long after, Brunet stormed out of the school with both Zain and Ant.

"Really Zain? Why didn't you just go to a teacher about it? Why'd you have to handle it yourself?" Brunet asked Zain as they stood at the entrance of the school.

Zain brushed pass Brunet, "I hate it here." He commented under his breath.

Brunet immediately shook his head no and grabbed onto Zain's shoulder, abruptly turning him around. "Hey! Where do you think you're going? I'm not don't talking to you." Brunet said to Zain, and by the tone of his voice I could tell he was fed up by Zain's attitude.

Zain swatted Brunet's hand off of his shoulder and sent a daggering glare to Brunet. "Don't touch me." Zain said.

They began arguing, having me bored out of my mind. Arguing isn't gonna resolve anything. My eyes drifted from their conversation, and looked at Ant.

My heart stopped as our eyes met...oh shit.

Ant blinked twice before a huge smile crawled across his face. He was happy, I can't believe it, He's happy to see me. My emotions couldn't be contained and I too smile back.

He lifted his little hand outward and waved at me. I of course couldn't just let my baby hanging so I waved back.

My heart beated twice as fast as excitement boiled my blood, I want to hold him. Seeing him through a window isn't enough.

Ring
Ring
Ring

Brunet's ringing phone had everyone turn to him. His face remained neutral as he spoke to the other person on the phone.

After the phone call he sighed and pulled out his wallet. "Here's $20, I have to get to work. You both get home safely, I'll have Jaja come pick up Sugar from school later since her program doesn't end until 5pm." He said as he handed the money to Zain.

Zain rolled his eyes and took the money before grabbing Ant's arm and walking off.

Brunet stood still as he watched the children walk away, "Sometimes I wish Janunu was here." He whispered to himself before getting into his navy blue Cadillac and driving off to the opposite direction.

I am here, Brunet.

~

Knowing the route that my babies took to school, I figured they'd take the same route home. I wanted to be closer to them so I went ahead and found a place where I could get an eye level view of them.

I find their route to be fine until they get to the alleyway part.

The alleyway was the back of a shopping plaza's building. There were back doors to all the stores in the plaza, so I hid myself in front of a door dent.

It was dark, so I'm sure my babies won't see me.

Two pairs of footsteps could be heard from afar, I knew it was my babies.

"How can you forget about what just happened today, and only focus on the good part of your day?" I heard Zain annoyingly ask Ant.

I could tell Ant was smiling from cheek to cheek, "Because I'm not a grumpy grinch like you, the good stuff make me happy so I remember that stuff and forget the bad stuff." Ant smartly answered.

He's so optimistic, I hope that never changes.

"Whatever" I heard Zain dismiss to Ant. Not long after, Ant went back to talking about his day. They walked right past me, completely oblivious to my presence.

"I even saw mommy today!" The Ant exclaimed happily. His adorably huge burst of positive energy was quite contagious, but unfortunately Zain didn't catch the sweetness of it.

Zain abruptly stopped walking and turned around, he dreadfully looked at his younger brother in question. "You saw mommy?"

Ant eagerly nodded.

In a swift second Zain pushed Ant, having him fall onto the ground. His bottom met the hard ground and within seconds his wails echoed the alleyway.

"Mommy is dead!! She's dead! Don't you ever-"

"You shouldn't have done that." I calmly said as I intervened. Stepping out of the corner that I had hid within, I showed my figure to the boys. Yet my face remained in the dark shadows of the alleyway.

Zain glared at me, beyond pissed by now. "This doesn't concern you. Leave us alone, that's my first and only warning to you."

Funny. His little intimation act doesn't scare me off easily, actually nothing scares me off anymore.

I took my hands out of my pockets and kneeled down, then I opened my arms wide and awaited for Ant to come.

"Ant, come to mommy." I softly said to the weeping child.

As his instincts took over, he stood up and ran straight into my open arms. My hand went to pat his back, while the other played with his hair. "Don't be afraid, I'll handle Zain's attitude." I cooed to my child as his cries died down to whimpers.

"Let go of my brother." Zain lowly said.

I stood up, taking Ant up with me, a smiled ran across my face as I looked directly at Zain. "Or what?"

"...or I'll kill you, impostor."
