The Thunder Rolls Part 2
Three-thirty in the morning
Not a soul in sight
The city's lookin' like a ghost town
On a moonless summer night
Raindrops on the windshield
There's a storm moving in
He's headin' back from somewhere
That he never should have been
And the thunder rolls
And the thunder rolls
Every light is burnin'
In a house across town
She's pacin' by the telephone
In her faded flannel gown
Askin' for a miracle
Hopin' she's not right
Prayin' it's the weather
That has kept him out all night
And the thunder rolls
And the thunder rolls
~Garth Brooks, The Thunder Rolls
Pushing open the computer lab doors, Hawk walked inside and through the hallway; sounding almost similar to those movie villains searching for the main protagonist or the protagonist's love interest, he called, "Melissss-aaaa! I know you're in here! Figured you'd be hiding in the computer lab, my dear girl!"
Hearing his voice, Melissa closed her eyes and waited until his footsteps had passed by her, making sure the coast was clear. After she'd opened her eyes, she lifted her head up and peeked through a small window in the dark room. Through the glass, she saw him looking through the window of a locked door, pulling at the knob before he said, "I'm coming for you!" and moved to another door. Her heart raced, beating so fast she thought it might just break free from her chest. She took a moment to gather herself, taking quiet, deep breaths to calm the storm inside.
But as she mentally prepared to leave the empty classroom, a cold chill ran down her spine, and she suddenly felt that familiar sensation: she wasn't alone. Someone had entered the computer lab, and she had a pretty good idea who it could be.
Tentatively, she turned her head, her breath hitching as she scanned the shadows in search of the unwelcome presence. Then her heart leaped into her throat as she caught a glimpse of movement. It was then that she realized this game of cat and mouse had just become more intense. She might have thought she was safe, but Hawk had a knack for finding her, no matter how well she hid. The thrill and fear of the chase sent adrenaline coursing through her veins as she weighed her options—stay hidden and hope for the best, or make a break for it while she still had a chance. The thrill of the hunt had become far too real, and the stakes were higher than ever.
